OUR OWN BANNER - not STOLEN. Or BURNT I really don't see the comparison. The time and effort to make a point , on a continual basis. Did you mix with the carlisle fans as well bowya in the station end towards as last season.

So banter is burning the aforementioned scarf? When you burn a Telford fan's house down, that'll only be banter - tell that to the police When we put up a banner on our house saying e hate shrewsbury (or similar) - before the burning down, it won't be illegal but it will be banter

Ok, so if Barnet fans come into the Crown next week, grab my scarf and set it alight, I'll pat 'em on the back and suggest they go for the Perrier best newcomer this year. And since it was a present, I won't be out of pocket! Everyone's a winner! As I understand it the scarf taken from the pub wasn't hanging around someone's neck at the time. Otherwise there would be an issue of assault. I don't see sanctimony of the type displayed on this board by our hard-up friend a particular badge of the left. His argument seemed to amount to "you're more of a moron than I am."

Perhaps the 'B&A community' could buy a Telford scarf and send it to the York with a suitably contrite note.
Should cost us about 2p each.

this thread is so ridiculous!! if p**sed up telford fans had burnt one of our scarves from a pub i think i wud just laff about it...(but im not in that situation rite now so cant say 4 sure ) it is only banter for god sake. The landlord did not stop them takin it down at all, so there was no problem there...so technically it wasnt theft. He may not have wanted them 2 burn it but he didnt stop them n by all accounts wasnt overlly bothered that they did! i think u TUFC fans really are takin this a bit seriously!!! and as for implying/sayin that the people who did it and or laughed about it arent fans...well i laughed and i aint missed a game all season n aint missed a home game for a good few years now, i laughed u gonna try n tell me i aint a fan hehe *awaits tellin off 4 bringin it back 2 d top*

No fires on the terraces Lee (unless you're bringing dodgy flares again). And was it burnt in front of your fans? Nope, that would be incitement on a huuuuuge scale.
Generally people when over-imbibing lose respect for property. Ask any Belle Vue resident from Town. Or anyone who lives near TCAT when the new trees were ripped up, and a fecking wire garrotte strung across the road. Assuming they were drunk, and not just murderous callous thugs.

Was in the York last night and heard about the scarf being burnt.
Firstly, it isn't particularly original. Stevenage fans set fire to a Woking scarf a while back and Ipswich fans just jumped all over a Norwich one. In the Stevenage case (please note) they sent a replacement.
Secondly, the scarf was badly damaged but most of it still remains. It was donated by a Telford fan and is one just over a hundred scarves, pennats and memorabilia from around the UK donated by fans who have come and enjoyed the hospitality in the York.
Finally, it is a shame someone tried to burn it as it does show a lot of disrespect to the people who donated the scarf, the people they presented it to, the rest of the fans who have happily drunk beneath it and to the whole ethos of why its there. I can understand why someone might burn it in the heat of the moment but I feel sorry for the sad muppets on here glorying in it. I don't mind winding up oppo fans for a laugh but some of it is pretty pathetic. And as for the EBF stuff - how sad to glory in the violent antics of a few pathetic and demented 40 year-olds with no life.
Shrewsbury showed their real colours in Morecambe on Saturday and it was a beautiful sight.

The Telford fans have a problem with the burning of the scarf because it would have become a collectoers item in a few weeks when they go under.

I was there and saw it happen. I didn't laugh at the time and am not laughing now. I'd had a few drinks myself, but my reaction was frankly be ashamed to be a Town fan at that point, and I know I wasn't alone.
Just for the record, a Carlisle scarf also went missing, and people also tried to take a Kiddy scarf when it was a little quieter, but the bar staff saw that and put a stop to it. After the game a Telford pennant was taken down and burned.
The reason why nothing was probably done about the Telford scarf was because the place was absolutely heaving, and the place was once again understaffed (as it had been in the Cup game).
I know it was probably done under the influence of alcohol, and hell we all do things we regret later. I've done my share in my lifetime, but I'm older and, hopefully, wiser. I'm not condoning what was done, but just saying I can see where it came from.
I know we are all different, and different people will react differently to different situations. I was rather hoping this wouldn't make the board and am disappointed Gallon brought it up and thinks it funny, but, as he says, he is entitled to his own opinion.
I do think people should sometimes think though, if the boot was on the other foot how they would react. I'm quite sure had it being Telford fans burning a Town scarf in a pub, all hell would have broken loose on here. Many people describing it here as a laugh, would be baying for blood. Think about it. Do unto others as you would expect to be done to yourself.
Finally, Bally, Lee, SNFC or Sim, if you are able to buy a scarf and a pennant, please let me know and I will give you the money for them and send them onto the York with a letter. If anyone off here also feels this way and wishes to contribute to this, please feel free as I can't really afford it all myself, but I will do so anyway.
