I hope not. The more delays the better because that means the longer we can stay at Gay Meadow. And maybe if it goes on too long, the buyers of Gay Meadow will pull out and we'll be stuck there.

Please get that into your thick skull Build Housemartins Now That's What I Call Quite Good... Clambering men in big bad boots Dug up my den, dug up my roots. Treated us like plasticine town They build us up and knocked us down. From Meccano to Legoland, Here they come with a brick in their hand, Men with heads filled up with sand, It's build. Chorus: It's build a house where we can stay, Add a new bit everyday. It's build a road for us to cross, Build us lots and lots and lots and lots. Whistling men in yellow vans They came and drew us diagrams. Showed us how it all worked out And wrote it down in case of doubt. Slow, slow, quick, quick, quick, It's wall to wall and brick to brick, They work so fast it makes you sick, It's build. Chorus. Down with sticks and up with bricks, In with boots and up with roots, It's in with suits and new recruits, It's build...

I don't need to argue any case, you do !! you prove where the money can come from, you prove how a 10 thousand seater stadium can be built at GM, you prove how staying at GM could provide the future income streams that the NM will provide, time and time again from yourself and Jonah we here I hope it all falls flat on its face but not once in my memory have you said how the club could survive at GM without a sugar daddy chairman, and strive to reach the championship rather than just survive.

The key point is "With a will" which sadly is lacking in those that control Shrewsbury Town at the moment. They seem more concerned about following the current fad of moving to new grounds without even considering the fact that they have one of the best sites for a football ground in the country with easily enough room to build a larger all-seater stadium. What effort has been made to get sponsorship to rennovate the current stadium? None at all, because they made up their mind to move and stuff everyone else.

No, in the long term we can't stay at the current site Steve.
But I share with your dissapointment that we have to move. We can move the club forward with a move away, but that doesn't mean we won't be sad to say goodbye.

I certainly don't agree with Steve's view.
But I have also gone well past the 'Excited for New Meadow and all it brings' stage thanks to the rudderless PR ship aka STFC.
I'm now at that 'It'll get built soon - I've no idea what it'll be like as a football ground' stage.
Am I the only one who finds Keith's "I'm not going to put a timescale on the start of the New Meadow build. No way. No chance. We're going to do this properly. No making false promises.......but it is imminent" statements the most entertaining part of this whole sorry saga?

Soory Steve.
The ground is boxed in by a school, a railway track(on a hill) and a river.
We could build a 10,000 all seater stadium (at great cost) but without more entrances and exits, both to and from the ground and in and out of the stadium the attendance would still be restricted.
the sale of Gay Meadow is in the most part funding the new ground.
Will wont conjure up £10million+ to rebuild a new stadium on Gay Meadow.

Finance, who will pay for it as the available grants leave a shortfall running into millions? Access, a 10000 capacity stadium on the Gay Meadow site is not possible without additional vehicular access? Just a couple for you to chew on for starters. I await the "with a will" response!

As I said, if you'd read my post, by getting sponsorship for the ground and new stands etc. This hasn't even been tried and should have been avenue number one before the board betrayed the fans by going down the New Meadow route.

Sponsorship running into millions, yeah right!
What about the access issue, and issue that would eventually lead to a reduction in the Gay Meadow capacity. Such a reduction being currently "on hold" due to the New Meadow plans?

Steve, the cost for building a new, all-seated, 10,000 capacity stadium on greenbelt land is £10,000,000. You seriously think that Salop can attract at least that through sponsorship of stands? We're a league two club, not Manchester United.

And you seriously think that companies will sponsor the millions needed to build these stands in order to be associated with a club of our size? I think not.

People have put years and years of time and effort intoi the New Meadow project, looking into the possibilities mand acquainting themselves with the facts. Then someone comes along who can't be arsed to do the same with their pie in the sky fanciful ideas and wonder why people get narked!
