Either Hurst has had a word early with some of them and told them they wont be here next season or they simply have no professional pride and have already decided to down tools.
Something isnt right at the club and hasnt been for weeks...i realise some may say all season but I get the feeling that Hurst doesnt like much about this team and that some of them know it and have stopped playing for him and for the club.
Today was completely and utterly inept, no passion no effort and that wasnt just a bunch of players in bad form or suffering from a lack of confidence and low morale levels. That was a team that set out with complete intent not to win a football match for their manager, barring a couple who showed a modicum of effort at times during the game.
Apart from those with saleable potential i.e. Sraha and Bloxham, for me, the rest can go...Udoh et al included. None of them deserve to wear the shirt. Never felt so disillusioned about this football club for over 30 years. The apathy is deafening and it feels like the club is just rotten to the core in all areas. No doubt, Roland has been a brilliant custodian over the years, but he needs to sell up and we need to attract new investment immediately... the club is just ever so slowly dying in front of our eyes and I am genuinely concerned about the future.

I think it’s the ‘go to’ excuse to say a team isn’t playing for their manager. The reality is much more likely to be that they are s**t, inconsistent and lacking fitness/dedication.
Away at Pompey they certainly gave it their all.
I hope to see some kind of obvious reaction on Tuesday as today is a stain on each of their reputations imo. They really did look as though they were giving 50% effort.
I’m still angry!

Of course you are entitled to your opinion but easy to raise your game against Pompey away, especially in front of 20,000 fans and a few scouts in the stands no doubt.
Thing is when it counts this team goes missing far too often. I couldnt careless if Bayliss and Shipley never put on a town shirt ever again...same.goes for 90% of the team. They may not be the league's finest players but they are capable of so much more collectively...they either dont want to give more for either the cause or for their manager.
Get rid of the lot of em.

Well they need to keep the score down.....this could go down to goal difference between us and port vale.if they beat Wycombe Tuesday, and we lose, which is more than likely....then it's game on,and down to the last game I fear.trouble is,these players have downed tools already,so I'm expecting a 3-0 defeat against Bolton, with no effort whatsoever 🤦🤦🤷🤷

Haven't seen too many utter dross performances under Hurst but that certainly levelled Stevenage at home earlier in the year.
Am looking forward to a clear out and rebuild with pre season of rigour and standard setting by Hurst.
I still hold out hope for the bits of quality we do possess under contract. For me players like Shipley are never going to be leaders and are massively influenced by the players and performance level around them. If he could take games by the scruff of the neck there's no way he would be playing for us.
There is a lot of chaff accumulated though, including the disposed of Irish lads given some pretty mental length contracts.
I wouldn't want anyone else but Hurst at the helm for this type of task and im slightly optimistic.

I suppose it didn't help Dunkley's cause that former Captain Leahy was in Town either,
I couldn't help have some sentiment towards Luke either, that guy is wasted as a Left Back.

We signed 2 quality players in bayliss and Shipley...thats what was said when we signed them....I don't think so somehow.....never seen anything to like from them 2.....both lazy, and drift in and out of games, especially later on,and on a fair wage too.....get rid,you won't miss em.... I'd rather have a young player from the national league, who wants to prove himself, and actually run around a football pitch, and on far less money too....them 2 are cheating the club for there wages🤦🤦🤦 I remember very well when Jake King was manager and he signed players from the Conference: a former Town player said to me that if you are signing many players from the Conference, you will end up in the Conference. So true.

I am at a loss to understand how people see Bloxham and Mata as potential saleable assets. To me, neither are anywhere near L1 standard and that goes for Perry as well.

Well perhaps Bloxham was anasset at one point but he's been stuck out on the wing and plays like a headless chicken at times, he had a brief period when Hurst came in where he seemed to 'wake up' a little. Mata - Well maybe back to the League of Ireland.

However, even if our goal difference levels up with that of Vale's, we'll still lose out, as shamefully our goals for tally is only 31, which is the lowest in the entire division.

This has got to be a first for B&A, a whole thread with everyone is saying the same thing. To unite a fan base that loves to bicker about absolutely everything is some achievement.

How do you motivate a team that knows it won’t be here next season? I think the answer was evident yesterday; you can’t.
I was about to type things can’t get much worse, but with 3 games remaining I’m not so sure based on what was dished up yesterday and at Bristol Rovers.
I feel like Shipley is getting tarnished with the same brush as Bayliss which I feel is a bit unfair. Shipley at least runs and shows some kind of desire and gets angry with officials when decisions go against us, which shows that he cares to some extent. His performances aren’t up to the level they can be, but I think he wants to be here. Bayliss on the other hand …. His body language really doesn’t help him is about as positive as I can be after yesterday.

Mr Hursts game plan of publicly criticising his team is now reaping rewards…….but not the reward we want as a fan base.
In recent weeks he has regularly spoken about ‘heavy defeats if we play like that’. Yesterday he mentioned a heavy defeat on Tuesday night at Bolton ‘even if we play well’…….players don’t want to hear that their Boss has no faith in them.
Mr Hurst may not rate the squad he has inherited, just like the poor bunch he over first time around, the difference is that Mr Hurst had a full transfer window and a Chairman’s backing. This time he had no money because Mr Roly has spent it on legal fees.

Only saw the first 45 minutes as had something else on and certainly wasn't disappointed to be leaving. I've defended Bayliss a lot but that performance was one of the worst I've seen in a Salop shirt, a man who knows he won't be here next season.
Roll on the summer, **** most of the squad off, let the Yanks take over the club and hopefully we may see some form of entertainment next season.

Its really disappointing to see a completely negative thread with everybody agreeing with each other and as a town supporter for over sixty years I have never left a home match without at least one plus. The plus yesterday was the same as it has been for quite a few home games this season. Does nobody appreciate just how easy it is to drive out of the ground a few minutes before the final whistle with town losing and no prospect of us scoring. Come on town fans there is always a plus if you look hard enough.

It's probably worth remembering that 8 of the players in the starting lineup yesterday, were from last season. They have been pretty awful defensively and offensively for over a year now. And under 3 different managers/coaches. Bayluss in particular has never put the effort in, he thinks he's too good for this level.

Question is now who plays against Bolton. In a hostile atmosphere can you play our upcoming youngsters. But if we’ve got gutless players who don’t care it’s pointless playing those gutless players. What on earth is Hursty going to do. He'll keep with the same considering its not mathematically certain yet that we are to stay up (I don't think so anyhow). So then the question is what Town team turns up as we have been so up and down under Hurst. I mean we have seen some decent performances since Hurt's return (whether a convincing win, staying in the game and grabbing a decent point, even losing but putting in a decent showing) its just at other times it's been flat and disappointing. Hopefully a full house and an atmosphere against Bolton as we had at Pompey will get them up for it again.

Hurst could shuffle the pack to an extent, O'Brien and Bennett could start for example, and what of the loanees? Given their lack of match time they will certainly be fresh if not rusty.

Whatever division we're in, I really fear for next season. We've got hardly any players (& some of those we've got left we probably don't want). We'll have one of the smallest budgets and the clubs coming up will be significantly stronger. We're going to need to be very lucky. The only saving grace is that we should be able to do better on the loans front (we could hardly do worse). Bleak times.

Haven’t read anything on this thread but my simple verdict is that was absolutely dog s**t, possibly the worst of the season, I can’t wait to see the back of most of this shower in the summer, and finally, whilst RW remains, expect nothing different but terrible football and a stadium full of bored, silent, apathetic supporters

We need Wycombe to maintain their form into their 4th game in 10 days with a win at PV. A win for Port Vale would make things much much worse going into the last two games.

What's been hugely disappointing as well is that our home form under Hurst has been dire.
Eight games and just the one win against bottom club Carlisle and throw in 5 defeats as well and it makes for pretty sad reading.
Not good enough by a long way.

One win in eight, 4 goals scored, that's 0.5 home goals a game! A measly 5 points gained from a possible 24, pathetic.

Making every opposition out to be prime Barca and challenging his players to prove him wrong. I found it odd last time but we was winning the games so it went unnoticed. Now it seems very odd. He is distancing himself from the players. Having a hard boss works for some people but it totally demoralises others. He probably does not care about there feelings too much as they will be gone in 3 weeks.

Its obvious that we are wasting good money on players that are not good enough to take us forward. A chance to get them off the books and replace them either with better quality or similar quality on less wages. We are a small league 1 team, it is always going to be difficult but we just have to go into every season hoping that it clicks.

...and finally, whilst RW remains, expect nothing different but terrible football and a stadium full of bored, silent, apathetic supporters I keep thinking its one last throw of the dice and yet here we are... After looking for Hurst Part 2 in Askey and Ricketts, that failed. Bringing in an experienced manager he'd targeted sometime ago, that failed (perhaps not on the park but you get what I mean). Moving to a new setup with a coach and a DOF, that failed. Lets hope he has it right bringing Hurst back anyhow, law of averages and all that...

Another thing yesterday revealed all too graphically - and not for the first time - is the chronic lack of pace and movement in the team.
How many times did we get around the back of Wycombe and put in a decent cross? How many times did players not move to receive a throw or a pass? How many times did we pass backwards without even thinking of the forward option? How many times did we run at their defenders?
I remember one point in the second half where Bloxham's only option was to go on a run and it almost worked for him. However, it happened again and it seemed like he was almost offended at being asked to do the same thing.
