TWOTS is that if Sads makes another appearance he will trigger a clause to automatically get a new deal, and so he won’t play against Walsall.
Would be sad to not get chance to give a great servant the send-off he deserves if this is true.

Seems a strange one this, as he's been on the bench for quite a few games, and presumably if this is true then SR couldn't afford to bring him on.

Good servant for us but time to move on and free up some of next seasons budget. Hope he gets fixed up at a League Two club for next season.

His wife liked a couple of derogatory comments about Ricketts on a twitter thread earlier today. I thought some news may have been passed on.

Get to your solicitor Mat,
Maybe I'm a sentimental fool but there are worse defenders at this club.

Would be good to see him stay in some sort of role to be honest.

He's been a good servant of the club. If Saturday turns out to be his last game for us I hope he goes out on a high.

Would be sad to not get chance to give a great servant the send-off he deserves if this is true. 100% categorically untrue. Sads could play 90 minutes or 90 seconds and it would not trigger a new contract - there is no such clause. Makes you wonder where TWOTS is coming from. This is a man who led us out at Wembley, won clubman of the year last year, player of the year, player’s player of the year and clubman of the year the year before that. He has been a fine servant and deserves a fine send off. If he doesn’t get one it’s because ST won’t allow it - not because of some bogus, made up clause that is only just being spoken of now.

Sadler should get the freedom of Shrewsbury Town then, or at least Meole Brace Retail Park, to marshall his back four wherever he desires.

He certainly deserves some recognition. Players and personalities like his don’t grow on trees these days.

Sadler on for the second half in place of Waterfall. Good to see him setting a decent run out in what may be his final game.

If Rickets thinks Waterfall...Beckles...Williams and Bolton are all better than Mat Sadler at centre half then he is not fit to manage a pub team.

So much for this contract clause.
Sad to see him go, a good servant to the club, maybe the right decision going forward as his best days are possibly now behind him. I'm sure he'll get plenty of offers to play elsewhere.

Ricketts said Waterfall came in with a back injury at halftime. I wonder if Sadler would have got on today otherwise given we haven't seen him play for weeks?

Obviously my source was incorrect.
Really pleased we got to see Mat one last time in a Salop shirt and give him the send-off he deserves.. Great servant, has been a great player for us and an even better guy. Wouldn’t surprise me at all to see him sign for today’s opponents in the summer, and it would be a very good signing for them if so.
Very hopeful we will see him back at the Meadow in some capacity some day in the future.
