Waterfall has had a back problem all season, he cannot run. Sadler has been stabbed in the back. There is no room for brains in Sam Rickett's head. 'Its a game of opinions' remember and I can state mine. How has Sadler been stabbed in the back?

When Sadler first came, he was awful at LB.
I was constantly asking for him to be dropped, I thought his legs had gone.
A move to centre half and he was a completely different player.
Top player, played a key part in one of our most memorable seasons ever.
All the best in the future, I would love to see him managing us some day in the future.

Some interesting comments on the squad from Mark Elliott on his twitter account post match. Fairly clear from his comments there were different factions in the squad and disagreements over tactics have taken place. Think that may reflect on the comings and going over the summer. He also comments on some players being seen not to pull their weight. His comments about leaks of information ring true - don't think I've heard so many rumours coming out of the club since the last season Ratcliffe was in charge Has he deleted them? Could only see stuff about Sadler.

Worth looking at Lewis Cox live report of the awards evening and the compliments paid to Sads by his senior team mates.

Well that’s a great shame because Sadler would be a great asset to any manager I would have thought. Perhaps SR doesn’t agree with me though.

After the Charlton home game I said that I didn't want to see Sadler and Waterfall in the same side together. I'm glad that Ricketts addressed that. Assuming that the decision went Waterfall's way for footballing reasons, these would be the consistent length of his headed clearances and his goal-scoring ability. On balance, that would not be a decision and a rationale that I would disagree with.
Waterfall has tried his level best and his heading ability is an important component of a defender's game. However, if he is a prime component of our spine next season we will struggle again and likely have a less happy outcome. I also have concerns, albeit less serious ones, about Beckles.
With the season we have had I'd expect the dressing room to be fractious, especially as it will include players who have been brought in by four different managers. In post match comments this weekend on social media and the radio it seems reasonably clear that a number of players did not mention either Askey or Ricketts. This underlines for me what we all know: the football club has made poor two managerial appointments in the last 12 months. I'd also wager that Roland Wycherley is quite aware of this too.

I'm led to believe that up until the Plymouth game the dressing room was far from fractious, in fact it was worryingly quiet with nobody speaking out

Well, unless you’re certain you’ve got a bad ‘un, I’d say back the manager, not any players obstructing or opposing him. Look at the mess Man United have got themselves into by paying too much attention to certain players and their agents.

Sadler has been stabbed in the back for being the ultimate pro and leaving this club empty handed.
Waterfall plays as if he has constantly got a back problem with his lack of pace.
You saw the same skewed pick at Man Utd where Mourinho picked £85 Million Lukaku over Homegrown Rashford.
'I've seen horrors, horrors that you've seen. But you have no right to call me a manager. You have a right to slate me. You have a right to do that, but you have no right to judge me'

There's nothing from Elliot which is particularly insightful, you can see the issues within the squad expressed in 90 minutes on Saturday. And a struggling squad will have factions, while having 3 managers in a season isn't helpful either.

When you look at the complete disorganisation in defence right now apr 29th Sadly I think we will not see Sadler nor Grant here next season. may 1st I agree to a swansong for Sadler may 3rd Get to your solicitor Mat, Maybe I'm a sentimental fool Sadler should get the freedom of Shrewsbury Town then, or at least Meole Brace Retail Park we don't need to judge you judge yourself ;-)

I don’t think Matt Sadler is as a done deal as some people are making out. I can’t believe that someone who was so important to our success only a year ago that has fallen off a cliff so badly in twelve months. Playing alongside Toto obviously helped but as Matt seems to be a modest man who is definitely a confidence player then he has missed those components badly this year. It was Hursts vision to turn him into a centre halve after being found out as being too slow at left back. Hurst and Doig gave him the confidence to go and be a successful centre halve and the result was a rock solid defender . Without a quick centre halve partner and the vision of a quality management team MS has unfortunately been put out to pasture too soon. It’s probably the people that have made the decision to let him go that should be moved on , not him. walsall didn't get a sniff first half yesterday 2nd half they had a few including one where some carthorse waltzed straight through the middle only for Mitchell to pull off a great save good job its was only a relegated side we were playing Sadler a bit ring rusty perhaps. You need regular football to keep your edge as a pro I expect.

He’s not alone in still having nightmares about Wembley either.

A fine example of how to silence fans who are on your back. Do your talking on the pitch. A great professional and will do a great job for whoever signs him. He would be a fantastic captain for Solihull Moors, his home town club.

It will haunt me forever and its heartening to see he still feels it whereas so many of his team mates/managers /coaches/physios had signed pre contracts at other clubs.

Let's not forget how Matt Sadler was pilloried on here to hell and high water from many regular posters not that long ago, get rid, waste of time etc etc. The goldfish bowl of football supporters has no conscience or pride.

Shame for Sadler, but not surprising given he's hardly played under Ricketts and not sure he covered himself in glory this season. Definitely good enough for league two though I think. Has a business in Birmingham so presume he will stay local to there, so Walsall would probably be ideal for him. not often a prediction of mine comes true so i'm claiming this one!
