I couldn't believe my ears and didn't understand any relevance either. Some folks are just plain thick.

I guess this related to McClean and not wearing a poppy int it? Can't say I have an issue with that to be honest.
Wouldn't want him anywhere near Town though, mind. Never in a million years. That's just from that preseason game over in the states some time past. I can't be doing with that.

I don't like McClean as he's always been a dirty git, but the IRA chants were unbelievable and embarrassing. Could we even get charged for them as it's pretty much sectarian
Who are these morons? I imagine most of the block 19 brigade to be young, so were they even aware of who the IRA were given the troubles were so long ago?

Educated just enough to be able to be influenced by far right groups on the internet?

There were a group of young teenagers who only seem to arrive for the higher profile games who were doing most of the chanting much to the annoyance of others and continued outside at half time

I know this is irrelevant but
I'd love to see a photo of block 19 from the Salford game ( yes I know it was pretty much empty )
I wonder how many had poppies on that day

Many gave their lives so people could choose to live in free and safe society including the right to act as they wish within the law..no one should be judged for wearing or not wearing a poppy, personal choice.

I remember that chant from the riverside at the old meadow. These guys have been itching for a reason to sing it again.

I mean if this is in reference to McClean and his decision not to wear it.

I think it's about how you deal with a situation. If McClean had just kept his head down and said nothing, it would probably have died down, but he decided go on the attack which left him open to people who were already spoiling for a fight.
On the other hand, compare his behaviour to that of Juan day England cricket captain, Dublin born Eoin Morgan. You can hardly expect Morgan to belt out God Save The Queen, (I don't usually either, because with my singing voice, Her Majesty would probably have me arrested), but what Morgan does, is stand respectfully and then the anthem is over, he applauds the fans.

His name was booed when it was read out by a few people in 17 near the middle or front. I bet they have been waiting years to do that.
He was booed from the South Stand and obviously from 19, along with the songs.
He's a house player, but when you realise where he was brought up, I'm not surprised he refuses to wear a poppy.

Yeah, I agree. Turning his back on the flag and national anthem of the place he has decided to make home and earn a living isn't going to go down well with a good few that's for sure. It just stinks of hypocrisy. It's hardly surprising he gets abuse because of it. He didn't help himself.

Oh right. Thanks for the explanations. Shows how famous he is he meant nothing to me. I thought he was being booed because he happened to be the player nearest to LJL when he went down !

I don’t see why a person should be obliged to be any more respectful towards the institutions of the country in which they choose to live than a native born individual. Does democracy only apply fully to natives? It would be hypocritical to pretend to respect something you didn’t. Give me a citizen’s honest opposition every time, rather than a pretend “respect”.

They were embarrassing from sat in the South yesterday. The few times the pro-town support from the South went quiet, all you could hear was
“Your support is ****ing s**t” “Is this your holiday” “Your sister is your mother”
Not to mention the other crap mentioned in this thread
All whilst looking and pointing in to the away end

Those IRA chants are beyond belief. They have no place in our club I would appreciate it if anyone who sang those IRA chants to not come back to this beautiful family club. No place for them here.!

As for the singing, Block 19 appear to have got the wrong idea about what Brian has in mind for "Orange Tuesdays".

It wouldn't be a big game down at the Meadow without the obligatory post-match Block 19 bashing would it?

A lot more after investing about £30m on a promotion push and retaining most of their players. With the likes of Berahino, Adobe, Ince, McClean, Woods etc ... Plus Crouch and other options off the bench they should easily be top 6

Are you being serious? You wander into someone's country and don't respect the people and their values? What an arrogant attitude. You must be the type that demands pork in a Muslim country and chips in a restaurant in India.
If I had my way I'd have your passport confiscated, you clearly don't know how to behave when representing your country abroad.
