Not sure if anyone else has noticed or mentioned this elsewhere, and if so disregard. PH in his post match interview seemed somewhat peeved with Rodmans back injury. Sounded a bit like the boss at work tired of the malingerer kind of attitude. Might be me reading too much into it but seemed less than impressed? Anyone else get that vibe from the what he said on radio Salop? Don't believe that's the case. It's a back injury, and therefore it's very difficult for the player and therefore the manager to know when he'll be ready to return Also why would a player malinger from the first team days before a cup final, when such an action could mean he's left out?! i read somewhere he had back spasms if that is true, i had that and it feels like having a short electric shock in that area . i went to an osteopath and it two weeks to clear up , i appreciate it varies and it will take the time it takes rodman played after his grandfather dies so that is hardly the attitude of someone who is a " malinger"

Gotta pick fault with Payne today, thought he was way too casual at times. Thought Beckles did really, really well. Nothing fancy mind but solid in defense. Nolan his usual neat and tidy self, making himself available again and again and making things come together. He's one hell of a find for us. I thought we played one of the best games we've had in a while today. Some of the football was a joy to watch. Which makes it all the more perplexing as to why we were desperate to hear the final whistle. Payne was fine. He terrified their CBs at times & worked the line really well. His performance deserved a goal, maybe just shy of full match fitness & confidence. He was clearly beating himself up a lot ( off the ball) over the missed chances. We were more of an attacking threat today & in part that has to go down to Payne starting. Show some patience with Stef and he will come up with the goods. Has to start games now as we need the wins. I don't doubt he work rate and his commitment, it remains first class and of course he is contributing to a winning side. However, at times I think he needed to show a little more urgency and application. That break late in the first half, for example. I think that was Payne. A really poor ball. It was harder to pick the defender out. It's not something I associate with his game, not something I have seen over the season. Just at times yesterday I think he could have and should have done better.

Similar comments made earlier in the season as well about Rodders by our leader Hurst backtracked pretty quickly & said Back injuries are hard to gauge. So no I didn't get the impression he was having a dig

Not sure if that was the incident where Payne held up play & he couldn't lay it off quickly as he realized his only outlet was offside. When the player got back onside the covering defender did his job & the move was broken down. As I see it they're League 1 players for a reason & it would be harsh to criticize. Payne gave everything yesterday. When he left the pitch ( when he was subbed) he had nothing left in the tank. Application comes from confidence & game time so it will come. Urgency has to come from the team as a whole. I thought Payne showed a lot of desire for the team yesterday & for the most part read the game well. Again players can only improve with game time so I hope Hurst persists with Payne now as he will get us goals.

When I see it down to being too casual with the ball. Where I think a little more urgency and impetus would have seen us create something. And as I say, I saw that more than once from Payne yesterday. We can agree to disagree...
