Another week
Another draw
We looking back on another frustrating afternoon and add an extra dose of frustration at the final days of the transfer window. We get a close up look to SC management style on the side lines and all in the company of Sean Evans.

A slightly different pod this week as with very little to talk about from ANOTHER two games without a win other than gritty defending. We take a look at why the same things have continued to happen under three different mangers post Hurst.
Questions for the manger, CEO, Chairman and players....many of which lead to more questions.... Glass ceilings, CONSTANT goal scoring problems, club identity, COVID black holes, recruitment troubles and many more depressing tangents...
Big look ahead to a massive game vs Morcambe...

Understandable why we saw a slightly different approach to this weeks podcast and it will be interesting to see how the SP meeting goes (as things do seem to have come to a head somewhat with those comments from SC about "buying" goals). Ambition seems to be something we are constantly talking about these days and doesn't look to be going away any time soon after yet another disappointing transfer window (in addition to Cotterill's comments). I mean what is going on?! And I agree about Ogbeta. No surprise to me at all that the improvement started around the time he returned to the side and no surprise that we have started to struggle again once he's left. Will have to see how it pans out for him of course but there is a reason a Championship club came in for him...👍

A thoroughly depressing listen, to the extent that I was moved to email the presenters
Hurst rejuvenated my support, and Messrs Askey, Ricketts and now Cotterill have combined to reduce all hopes....

LOL
Always good to get some feedback, and we try not to make its so depressing EVERY week but what else could you do last week... a nadir moment of the last three years for which we need to pick up from.
Oh for the days of doing the pod in the Hurst season.... we sounded buzzing every week!

One thing Hurst did was generate hope that we can be more than a s**te side battling relegation every year, I'll be forever thankful for that season.
I attended away games knowing we'd win, never mind expecting or hoping.

I attended away games knowing we'd win, never mind expecting or hoping. One thing Hurst did was convince the club that they could reach out to another inexperienced manager and we'd see the same results. I do wonder whether they limited their search based on that approach, whether others were available but overlooked because they didn't meet a that criteria.

can I stick up for marosi and his kicking
ok its not great I know but I suspect the goal kicks are an order , when you don't have the height in the middle of the pitch its of no use pumping the ball forward down the middle instead its aimed at the halfway line on the touchline, the opposition cannot do much with it apart from head it out for a throw we could however help it on its way down the line, and if we miss it chances are it goes out for a throw to them
ricketts adopted this too, usually Dave Edwards was our best hope of attacking them
you'll probably remember Max O'leary & Arnold before him, often seemingly wasting goal kick after goal kick aimlessly punting the ball out for throw ins
its a long time since we've had some midfield giants on the park

I mean it would have to go down the left everytime like haha.

I remember John Coleman was the worst of the lot in terms in kicking. We should have got a centre half to take them.

Latest Salopcast looking at creating more chances, still not taking them. Back to back 0-0 draws, improved performance, the Vela Question and Flanagan’s excellent start. Praise for Fornah and some stats on goals (or the lack of them)
Grinding to safety..

Looking ahead to a big week where we need to get something you feel. 9 to go…. soundcloud.com/salopcast/202122ep32I didnt actually think the ref was bad, we had 2 shouts for pens that were never pens, and I think his only mistake was bottling a clear pen just after for them, the Lino's on the other hand specifically the one right in front of me in block 1/2 clearly missed them being off for the first goal , but likewise missed 2 of ours in the 2nd half, one came to a decent effort and the other was the blatant miss, I think had one of our players head butted one of their we were in the kind of mood we'd have moaned had he sent him off as for player of the season, disappointed marosi didnt get a mention, he's been solid and turned many defeats into draws, even at the start of the season when he couldn't keep a clean sheet he was still playing well

Latest Salopcast now live. This weeks Salopcast covering an unbelievable week for Shrewsbury Town. First lingering relegation troubles swept away in a flurry of goals vs Morecambe. Then followed up by a better result going to the league leaders and giving them a sound thrashing. The best week for a long time! We talk goals, Fornah giving us Ben Godfrey vibes, Leagy player of the season, miserable Rotherham fans, having a fall in a LIDL car park in Stoke and everything else amazing that happened this week. Will put a massive smile on your face. 👍 soundcloud.com/salopcast/202122ep33

Latest Salopcast is a packed one, a new guest in Nick Jones who was one of those to cycle down to the MIlton Keynes game. Then we moved onto to the game with a encouraging first half and disappointing second. All followed up with an interview with Ant Thomas to run through the latest set of accounts. Lots more too including pizza at the football and HS2! soundcloud.com/salopcast/202122ep35

Great guest this week. Love how passionate he is about the club already. thankfully the majority vote fairly each week, its a great podcast that the lads run and needs to be taken seriously if someone has the privilege of being invited on for their honest views, saying that, not sure if id do the same if my best mate was playing ;-)

Was really straining to hear what he was saying - then again it may be me getting old!! Thanks for the comment. I was away this week, and I usually edit the podcast to bring the audio closer together. We use an online platform and its a bit of a mess when matching audio unless you do it manually afterwards. That no one has picked this up before shows that the work is worth it normally I guess. Thanks for listening. Glyn
