Cant imagine Dale have much money so would be madness for us to sell him to a club that we could potentially be swapping places with
Additionally, the window shuts Tuesday so doesnt give us much opportunuity to get a decent replacement in
Dont do it Roland

Turner said in the fans forum that it'd take a ridiculous offer for him to consider selling one of his players.

No need to sell. However bringing in a fifth striker on Friday makes a bit more sense now.

I would hope that the club dismissed this bid without even a second thought, because if not I would be very considered about our aspirations for this and any other season...

Hop so, but wat about Gornell himself, any bid can unsettle a player, and if he wants to go, then make sure we get a decent price.

GT hinted at the fans forum that we paid a lot less for him than people thought............... I am going to guess at 30k. Say Rochdale have offered double, I think we could get at least double that again at the end of the season if he plays in most of the games and knocks in a few more goals. Please don't sell him now GT

Just pointing out that a few eyebrows were raised when we brought Sawyers in. Likely that the move for the WBA lad was driven by the Morgan red card/ban. You can never tell in football though. The bid could have been made last week and Turner may be willing to accept a six figure bid for our third choice striker.

Wouldn't imagine that Rochdale could afford a bid that we'd find hard to refuse. No surprise he is after him though and no harm in him asking, he loses nothing being told no.

It would be a massive blow if we sell him as in my opinion he is our best striker. His all round play is class, so we'd lose a key player if he leaves.
As we only signed him this season, could he be sold again? Or would it have to be a loan for the remainder of the season then they sign him perm after?

Agree with above, Gornal is a vital asset in our toolbox.
I want him to stay and would be frankly amazed if Turner let him go and gambled on a loanee.
Hope the rumour is false.

I agree, if we're serious about going up and staying up we should be keeping young players of Tel's class.

Only to be considered if it involves a straight swap for Ashley Grimes.

If any striker goes anywhere then my guess is Bradshaw - possibly out on loan with a call back clause incase of emergency eyc

depends on how much the offer is and if GT can get a good replacement in for less than we get. to make double or treble the money you have spent on a player who has potential but has scored a handfull of goals, is worthy of consideration. There would be circumstances that i would be ok with losing a good player like Gornell, if GT already had 75k to spend and 75k could be added to it from a sale like this to get someone even better, then it would make sense.
How often do these sky rumours come true? do they have a great hit rate? always thought sky was a bit taboid and speculative

Might make sense if he is lining up the guy from Rotherham !!!!
Alex Revell ------- think he is 27 or 28 but is quality and would cost 150k

120k swap with Ashley grimes. But hope it doesn't go through Wasn't Grimes GT's first choice striker signing in the summer? Grimes move to Rochdale was primarily motivated by his desire to work with Steve Eyre again. Funnily enough Coleman wants to replace him with one of his former players!

120k swap with Ashley grimes. But hope it doesn't go through we would get 120k plus a replacement from L1? yes, i would take that. it values gornell at around 200k though, seems a lot for a lad we have only had for a few months

I'd swap him for Grimes instantly, he was great for Lincoln last season in a team which was relegated. I personally don't think Gornell is that good, he's our 3rd choice striker and I've seen nothing in him that would like to see us make a real effort to keep him, IMO.

I like Gornell a lot - he's a smashing player. He links the play really well and with the right delivery (Sherriff at Burton, Joe at Edgar Street) TG has a real knack of pulling off defenders (leave it), and knows where the goals are. Do not sell please GT!
