Interesting about Leslie, but i still just dont see how he fits into the team unless we change the system. Gutted about Raven, and Disley too, both very good footballers who i think will get contracts from good L2 or even L1 sides. So the shopping list starts
RB CB LB CM Winger (if Jon Taylor goes) poss a ST
Looks like it might be a more interesting summer than first thought

Surprised about Raven. May have missed a fair few games but was above by a distance, anyone else we've played at right back this season or dare I say at the new stadium. I thought his loss for the playoff games was crucial.

In addition to those release should add BVdB who decided he wanted away, would assume Robinson will be released next week. So with Lomax leaving and the 3 loanees departing it looks like the squad is now 11 short. Lot of work for Mr Turner.

Wouldn't be that surprised if Robinson was offered a contract to be honest, whether he would want to stay though, that's another matter!

A bit gutted to see Raven go.
I do think it was worth giving Macca another year, as he can do the nitty gritty when we are 1-0 up with 10 minutes to go.
Surprised that Leslie has got a contract, but let's hope it pays off.
And let's hope that leaving Jon Taylor 'till now doesn't come back to bite us in the arse.

And useful as an extra striker and back up winger

I still think letting him go was a bad decision. I would have him back.

Robinson's performances at Torquay have been on the wing. Would he have played there if he'd stayed with us? Even if GT was a fan almost certainly not.
Would be surprised if GT offers him a deal, although that is not necessarily the correct answer.

If it's a choice of Ainsworth or Robinson on the wing who would you have? I'd spend the money on a goal scoring centre mid who could take set pieces well ;D

Understand the Raven part, how many games did we get from him this term, and he would be on a decent wedge to!!

Wouldn't be that surprised if Robinson was offered a contract to be honest, whether he would want to stay though, that's another matter! There's more chance of me getting a contract! Not that I'd be unhappy to see him back.... Surprised about Leslie, and also Raven. But I'm sure GT knows what he's doing a lot more than all on here. Roll on June 17.

Sorry to be negative but if Grandison is going to be touted as our future right back then all I can say is God help us, with Raven gone we surely need a recognised replacement who can actually fill thecrole. Hoover, I completely agree. When Jermaine first came in he seemed like he was going to be a great full back, however, last couple of games he's been nothing of the sort. I hope that he comes good but IMO we'll lose games because of him. We are a few players short of being a real threat.. We need a "proper" right back, a couple of decent midfielders (hopefully Davies will go back to Wolves) and a striker who can get 20 - 30 goals a season like all the top clubs in League 2 always seem to have. Good strikers come here with a cracking record and then do burger all and lose their scoring nack.

Raven played in less than half the league games for Carlisle in his final season, and it's been the same case for us.
Very good player at league 2, but a huge risk to extend the contract.
I'm willing to give Leslie one more season as a squad player.
Right decision in both cases by GT in my opinion.

Just wonder whether GT is thinking of playing 5 in midfield in some games and fancies Leslie to play on the left of that formation.
I can only think that the Raven decision is on medical grounds, just hope we get someone as good to replace him.

Everybody makes mistakes,Turner just made one............ Leslie........God Almighty ![](http://www.shropshire.btinternet.co.uk/smiley/headbutt.gif) Only positive I could take away from Friday night was I thought I'd seen the last of him............ Hope he makes me eat these words but I doubt it..... Raven has to be down to fitness,I hope,or I'm going to worry.......

I think we'll start to have to start called Leslie "the cat" as he seems to have as many lives as one!
Although let's not assume he will sign up to the offer.
Sorry to see Raven go. I can only assume it is either a fitness issue or GT has a better player lined up. I cannot imagine that GT would see Grandison as first choice RB.
Good luck to all the other players who have been released, especially the youngsters.

Very surprised and sorry to see Raven go. Thought he was our most consistent player before his injury and wouldn't have thought of him as injury prone, unless he now has a recurring problem and is too expensive to risk. Should be a great signing for someone.
With Danny Taylor and, presumably, Sadler gone, not forgetting Lomax and Holden, we'll need at least 3 new full backs. Grandison did well initially but his last 3 games against Torquay exposed his inexperience and the fact that he was out of position.
I would have said it was time for Leslie to go except that he seemed to do well at Hereford and in his cameo against Torquay I agree with hope2010 (I think it was) that he looked better than the other midfielders. I know we've had too many false dawns already. Let's just hope this isn't another and he really does start to produce consistently.
As for the others released, all the best to them. Decent players and could still have done a job for us but we need to improve and to do that, Turner has to make headroom for new blood.
I hope the 3 peaks challenge isn't downbeat with half of them about to leave.

Sad to see Raven go, but I'd rather see someone who is fit for long spells of the season. Like Herd was in the past, and how Sadler has been for us this season. I hope Leslie hasn't been offered anything longer than a 1 year deal.

I love it how some people are saying we are several players short of a decent squad.
Of course we are, the season only finished on Friday, players have just been released and GT hasn't started recruiting yet!
Give it time and I am sure the squad will shape up nicely!

Surprised to see Raven go. Must be a combination of fitness issues and wage demands. Leslie's undoubtedly lucky to get a contract offer but he's still fairly young and has shown decent potential at times and is a local lad to boot so I'm quite pleased to see him get another chance.
I agree with Ant that we need to sign somebody who's good in dead ball situations. I'm srtruggling to think if a single goal we scored from a set piece this season.

I am happy with that list although I am sure it's tough when players are released. Looks like GT was being very open on his reasons for sending Leslie to Hereford and his successful loan spell seems to have earnt him a contract. I am certainly convinced he's worth another go but obviously many people arent. Local lads sometimes get a rougher deal from their own crowd........... Paul Evans seemed to get a similar reaction in his day.
