Fair play to them. After Sat,although they looked good going forward,I thought the Liverpool kids would take them to the cleaners at the back.
I bet THEY didn't play 5 at the back v Liverpool.....

OH NO a little fluke upset in the carling cup. Like that has never happened before.
Its laughable how everyone makes such a big deal out of every little upset. By how some people are acting you'd have thought they had beat Liverpools starting 11 in a real competition.
They beat a weak lfc team in a competition nobody cares about. Whoopty ****ing doo.

Tux it was their only chance of silverware this season and they blew it.
The fact you have bitten shows it matters to you doesn't it.

Looks like the rot has well and truely set in already. Ngog, Agger, Jova-what ever his name is a- vic, all on what i'm guessing is 30K +, weak team yes, but failing to beat a league 2 side on your own patch laughable. Up the Shrews...see you all at Wycombe & Vale!

Always nice to see 'one of ours' beating 'one of them' (especially if they show contempt for the competition by fielding a bunch of reserves).

It's not just this defeat though is it Tux? Liverpool were crap last year and now 5th bottom of the Prem, averaging one point per game (relegation form), massive debts and no end in sight to the ownership problems, very large squad of players (many of whom are clearly not good enough), unable to buy in quality due to lack of funds. Look at the new players players Liverpool got in this summer (Cole, Poulsen, Konchesky, Meireles, Jovanovic) and compare them to those at other Prem teams outside the top 3 (Milner, Toure, Silva, Balotelli, Asamoah Gyan, Sandro, van der Vaart, Gallas, Foster, Beckford). I think it's pretty clear that LFC are in a serious decline and your claims that they just need time to gel and will win the League are laughable. Win the league with a defence of G.Johnson, JC, Skrtel and Konchesky!? Do me a favour.

Are you kidding about Beckford??? If you think he is premiership quality you are very much mistaken. Taken off after 45 mins on his full debut for everton last weekend & very much a league 1 / poor championship footballer....

I'll hold my hands up there - he's a well-known name because of Leeds but probably not that good. But the others are all good.

By the sounds it was a "all we got to do is turn up" approach from Liverpool and they deserved what they got. Congrats to the cobblers

Superb result for Northampton, great stuff!! I'm not so sure its such a bad result for Liverpool though, not as bad as folk here are making out. Just think its folk on B&A letting thier feeling towards certain things, certain clubs clowd their opinion. If Liverpool really did want to win this cup then I don't think they would have put out the side they did (same at Chelsea). There was always a risk playing that side against even a 4th division side and if you are looking to win anything then you simply don't take that risk...
I personally think Liverpool and its suppporters have much more to worry about at the moment than whether they will win owt or not this season...
Anyhows, hope Northampton get another great tie in the next round. Deserve it for that result...

i dont think liverpools signings have been that bad. everyone was raving about joe cole before the world cup. and there was a rumour daily about all the top clubs wanting him. And Meireles is an excellent player. Compared to a lot of other players (gallas, gyan, foster) in that list he has an excellent record last season etc...
Despite saying that they have clearly had a pretty miserable start, mainly because they rely on two players who have barely turned up so far

I don't like Liverpool at all, and was pleased about last night's result, however I do feel for their supporters. They are rapidly going downhill, and wouldn't be at all surprised to see them finish in the bottom half this season. I hope they keep Roy Hodgson though.

Let me guess, this is all Benitez's fault isn't it? It sure is his fault he had the budget to keep them in the top 4 last season and blew it. The club are now screwed and i doubt they will make the top 4 or CL for a few years. Same goes for man utd.
