Annoyed that the channel I watch in a morning will no longer be shown. Anyone else angry at the money grabbers who take away the one way I can watch all the football news as it happens?

A bit surprised that they at off as it's really a rolling advert for Sky Sports rather than a sports news channel.

Exactly amsterdammer
There missing out on the chance to hype up their own channels and even pay per view events. Meanwhile, what are they actually going to achieve by moving it? Is anyone seriously now going to increase their subscription just to get this channel??! I doubt it!
Something else will surely fill the market if there is one.
And the soccer saturday's part already has an alternative in the bbc service which doesn't have the annoying adverts.

Its a shame they've done it, I watched it all the time but they're shooting themselves in the foot. It was a great advert for everything else sky, and companies must of paid alot to sky to advertise on that channel to a great audience. Sky will will lose out in the end, for now I'll have to make do with it on the ipod.

Not very happy at the decision but think they will regret it in the long term

I think it will be all down to personal choice.
I along with a couple of people at work decided to cease our Sky contracts a couple of years ago. I honestley don't miss it.
One of the other providers will no doubt fill the gap, to be frank watching Rodney Marsh oohing and arrrging was poor TV anyway.

I'm all for it.... I have the full Sky Subscription with multi room and HD so when I'm paying out over £60+ per month (I know its my choice) I should have the prevelige of being able to access something exclusive that people who don't subscribe can't get. Like Shrews Web, I choose not to subscribe so I have to accept I can't access Shrews World.

I will certainly miss it, but it isn't going to make me subscribe to Sky I agree! And all the more so as, this was obviously the reason they stopped it on Freeview. Well, no doubt competitors will step in and fill the gap.

You have Sky 3 + 1 to look forward to and you will still get all the Sky self-promotion.

What really annoys me about Sky is they hardly ever reward loyalty. I have been with them for 20 years now (full package) and it would be good to have this acknowledged occasionally by a free month or something like that.

The amount of people I've heard whinging about SSN being scrapped on freeview means that it WILL be missed by those people, as for competition - didnt go well for ITV, Setanta, ESPN did it? accept Sky have the absolute monopoly for the time being and either subscribe or dont and try and say how much you dont miss it....

I have the full Sky package. If anyone on b&a wants to know any information from SSN, then just PM me. PM's cost £3.00 per message, unless over ten words when an additional £1.00 per word applies. All PM's may be recorded, so that I can have a good belly laugh and believe me, there's a hell of a lot of belly.

just cancelled my sky package, saving £80 a month some cancelling too Not sure why. I just threatened to cancel my DD. That did the trick. as i said i was told i could cancel at any time and then told i was in a contract the next chap told me i had to write in and then when i asked for a manager he made me wait and then cut me off (on purpose im sure) he even wrote on the system that 'customer got cut off before he could be put through' manager confirmed she would sort it and never did at 4th time have managed to get it sorted, runs out on the 5th sept (have seen details online now) best part was they called my bluff and said they would listen to the phone call, i didnt mind this as the chap had indeed confirmed i could cancel at any time (he shouldnt have done but he did) i would have cancelled the direct debit and even said i would, at which point he (number 2 chap) said i wouldnt advise you to do that as we have the original phone call sir lol, ok i said listen to it after i've cancelled in my opinion it should be law that you could have a cancel option online i know like me many phone up to cancel when all they want is a better deal but its really is annoying when you do genuinly want to cancel but get lied to and cheated

It's funny the people who have freeview sayin Sky are losing out on advertising their channels. Well it obviously wasn't a good advert because you all haven't subscribed! Just moaning you haven't got the channel. Therefore, making it a good choice by sky I'll sit back and watch my Sky Sports News in HD for my £10 a month instead of having to spend money on petrol or drinks to watch it elsewhere

It will only be missed if folk are unable to find in time a free alternative. So there is clearly now room for someone to step in and attempt to take a fair chunk of Sky Sports News Saturday afternoon market. I think the BBC would be daft not to extend their final score programme now to compete, or perhaps folk will make a return to radio five coverage. ITV and Setanta didn't fall apart because they tried to compete with Sky Sports News, they failed because they tried to compete with Sky Sports live football coverage...

Won't miss it too much as:-
a. As I actually GO to matches on saturday,I don't fit into Sky's ideal TV fan bracket. b. Once you'e watched for it for 5 mins, you've no need to watch it for the rest of the day, unless you have the mind of a goldfish. c.I find it a strain to watch any TV which suddenly lapses into ad breaks. Now I'm being asked to PAY for the privilege of watching adverts every 15 minutes?
