As a long-time Fat BlokeTM I have to say it's the vinegar first then the salt second - so the salt doesn't get soaked up so quickly. Doubt that's the healthier option...

As Shropshire number one Chip conasuers i can confirm that it is Salt always Salt, then a little vinigar (if at all) Best chippy in town people - this always throws up some strange ones, for me the Chippy on Clarmont Street or the Colham Fish Bar (for the memories eg chips after beating Barnet, Everton!!!)

The healthy option is no salt but you have to grab the salt pot quickly to stop them putting it on. Anyone have the cooked to order fish at Altrincham last season ?yummmmmmmm

second that why's it called the Little Boro? No Frankwell lads around to answer this? I'm very close (Hafren Road) so here's the version I was told. The suburb was outside the town and not in the juristriction of the lord of the castle. The area became a centre for independant traders and was known as the 'little Borough' - Shrewsbury was, of course, the big Borough. Many of the traders were French, so the area was called Frank Ville (French Town). BTW,the French Town bit is not supported in the book 'Shrewsbury Street Names' by Notts Shrews' Dad, but i think the little Boro' origination is correct.

Back to the question - Belgian chips are the best in the world, so it's mayonaisse.
