What is the matter with you people? Ok we could have gained an extra 2 points on Chester today but 1 pt is good enough.
I dont care about anything else apart from the difference between our points total and the points total of the team at the top - Today was a good day for STFC as we are now a point closer to lifting the title.
Be positive, we only need to gain two more points than the top team over the remaining games plus win our games in hand and beat either Hereford or Chester to lift the title.
We are still in it big time, the title is in our own hands, we have more home games than all the top sides - WE WILL PREVAIL.

I have to admire your optimism kickin but where you at the game today If so you must have seen a different game to me. OK we gained a point on chester but they will only drop so many points this year and everytime they lose we are not taking full advantage!! I really hope you are right but frm what i have seen this year i will be happy with the play offs.

Does it really matter about the performance? And no i wasn't at the game but listened in on the webcast, the most important thing that matters is whose top come May and we could be , just as much as Hereford , Chester or even Aldershot could be - its down to us, if we get the points we win the league.
We got the point today that matters - Simple as that

Can i borrow some of your optimism please ;D
I agree points are more important than performance......... but if performances cary on like this i fear more games like dagenham rather than hereford. Surely we are due a good game soon!!

My system for winning the league. 1 A Miracle 2 4-4-2 3 No Quinn on the pitch..enough is enough 4 We dont need an Asst Manager + first team coach, thats a wage that could bring in a new player. 5 Ross Stephens at Left Back 6 No personal stick to any player, boo/shout rubbish if its like today, but NO picking out a player and giving him stick.

i don't think he's smoking anything. He must be injecting class A's straight into the bloodstream if he thinks that was o.k today. it was toilet , and will scare none of our opponents. All it does is increase the frustration of the match going fans.

Kickin, your brains in upside down mate - if you'd been there today you'd know.
WE WERE CACK!!!!!

Post by Blues in Crewe on Jan 17, 2004 23:25:07 GMT 1
So we were cack but we still picked up a point, and no I wasnt at the game either but why should Kickin, myself or anyone else be denied a right to an opinion simply because we dont pay '£14' to see the game live, many of us are subscribed to get the weekly commentry and we get to the games whenever we can
I found out the result at work and was really downhearted about catching up on here as I knew how negative (even if for well founded reasons) the board was going to be
What a breath of fresh air to read an optimistic post, so we're not playing well but no other team is exactly setting the league on fire either, we are (most of the time) picking up points (unlike last season) even when we are awful, we are in with a chance of winning the league it may not be great odds based on performance but it is still a chance

DunCowShrew - I was skint today after spending lots of doller on my business interests so i couldn't afford to go although i did listen to the webcast (Talk about depressing listening or what!) - NOT THAT IT MATTERS >
At the end of the day we are 1pt nearer the championship - that is all that matters, if Chester lose next week and hereford win they go top with a game in hand so anyone that says we cant win this league has there head in the sand.

Anyone else remember Kickin's outrageous predictions earlier in the season - over 4k for first game, 1k to Burtona and Accy, Rodgers to score hat-trick againt Tamworth etc. etc. Everybody said at the time that he must be smoking something.... and look what happened Yesterday was awful, but I'mwith Kickin - this isn't over yet.

Spot on Kickin! I was at the game, it was very frustrating, but we didn't play that bad, they came here and put 10 behind the ball and it was very hard to break down. We have to keep faith! Town fans are so negative and give up far too easily. Lets stick together and get behind em. Two games in hand, it's all to play for.

I'd be happy with the point if I could be optimistic about going to Halifax next week, but I can't.
Our home record makes for championship form (6 conceded in 12 games is awesome).
Our away record is top ten form.
That's why we'll finish 4th or 5th unless a miracle comes from somewhere.

anyone care to look at a calander..?? ITS JANUARY !!!! all the top 6 have to play each other in what is going to be like a mini play off - look at the fixture lists we have games in hand over chester.. they are catchable... thats the thing about shrews fans.. i wish there was some geordie or maccam spirit in some of you Arsenal this time last year were unstoppable, playing the most amazing soccer I have ever seen on a constant basis. Man U still won. If my calculator tells me we cant get top spot then I shall agree with you.OK we were cack. We have been cack for weeks. We were cack against Northwich but still won 2-0. We have been cack since pre-season. Hereford was a blip. What happens if we like end on a high..? What happens when our big squad kicks in and the other teams have suspension and injury worries..? As Ian McNeill used to say.. we still have irons in the fire. Please chill

and Ian McNeil always talked rubbish...
Without some sort of miraculous transformation, there is absolutely no way we will be champions. Generally championship winning teams have nearly all of the following:
1. A solid defence that doesn't concede many goals 2. Team spirit and togetherness. A team that doesn't know when it's beaten and when it goes behind fights all the all harder. 3. A settled team (at least at the lower levels where rotation doesn't come into it)playing with a system where everyone know's there own job and what each other's supposed to be doing 4. A quality goalscorer - someone who's going to get 25 maybe even 30 in the season. 5. A consistent level of display where and a couple of unbeaten runs of more than 10 games.
Do we fulfill any of these - perhaps the defence is solid enough although I still have some reservations. The rest we seem no nearer to achieving. Do we ever win when we fall behind? how often do we score form set pieces or corners? Does quinn know who his best strikers are? (himself apparently) can we go more than 5/6 games without losing?
We still seem to hope that out of nothing the team will step up a gear but on what evidence? Do they have an extra gear?
The only reason we're 5th is because of the generally dismal standard in this league.
I hope I'm proved wrong and we suddenly go on a 10-12 game unbeaten run but I can see sign of this happening.

If any fan is satisfied after a performance like that they are either blind, stupid or just need men in white cots to lock them up.We were awful. The worst displat at home all season, and admitting we were worse than against Barnet and Margate is a very difficult thing to do.These naff results have to stop or we won't even make the play-offs never mind win the league.

I placed a bet pre- season that was a double; Town to win the conference and Baggies to win 1st division. Am I being naively optimistic, but I've already started planning spending the £1200 winnings The baggies have played awful and still find themselves within a four/ five game run of a clear lead (as do Town) Optimism is something that is infectious- a little of it in the stands could have a positive effect on the pitch

i wish there was some geordie or maccam spirit in some of you The Geordies and the Mackams deserted their clubs in huge numbers when they were languishing in division 2 (as was), they're just as fickle as the next set of fans!
