Spent a few hours in a&e with the wife last night and after seeing her this morning I came across two cases of self inflicted wasters. yesterday: a young chap decides to drink himself stupid, then gets brought in, causes a bit of hassle, then sleeps it off ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) Today, in the mixed ward next to Louise is a canabis taking lad who didnt get his canabis off his usual supplier, this one was lined with cocaine, so he spends most of the night chatting and laughing with his mate whilst my wife and others are are ill trying a sleep ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) I do hate these self inflicted selfish barstewards ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) Sorry about that had to get that off my chest. rant over!

No wonder you're mad at these time-wasters, John.
We all wish Mrs J.P. a speedy recovery.
She's an absolute gem and Leah loves being with her, too!
I guess it puts things in proportion about our team..etc...

I did explain that she had no need to worry because you would clean it all up if they did ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) ;D

Hi john ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Firstly my best wishes to the mrs, tell her to hurry up home cos i wont be able to hold the Labour fort on my own for long ![;)](http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/winking/winking0070.gif) If i were to take you around one of my wards, i could probably identify at least a dozen people who are taking the p**s out of the system in one way or another. It is so incredibly frustrating some times. Just a few off the cuff examples. " We cant take mother home this weekend because we are going away, she will have to stay here till monday" " yes i know we said Dad didnt need any home support when he came in last week, but now we have changed our minds" ( the day he is due for discharge) "We cant take Dad home bacause we are taking Mum to the Lake District on Friday" We have at least 5 or 6 drunks in a week, fallen over and banged their heads. I have been punched and kicked and spat at that many times, it really is soul destroying. Wouldnt be so bad if i could ****ing punch em one back. The NHS is terrified of being sued. We cant turn people away, which is both a good thing and a bad thing. Few people these days really want to take rsponcibility for themselves or their famiies, they think it is for someone else to do, and my hat really does go off to those who make a sacrifice to look after there loved ones. Nothing p**ses me off more than say, a son, who hasnt bothered to visit his Mum for years, no regular visits, no phone calls, no help and support, who comes storming onto a ward shouting his mouth off, "why arent you doing this, why havent you done that, i demand this, i demand that". Going a little ot now ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) , but yes, your right ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Cheers Jim ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) and Cheers Pab ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) ;D I have to say mate I came pretty close to thumping that drunk t**t last night....giving grief to one of the nurses for no reason apart from he was p**sed ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) I have every sympathy with you, dont how you lot put up with it tbh...I wish I had half the patience ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) As for the wife, Im going to take a radio in so she can listen to that comical genius that is michael Howard and his speech ![;)](http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/winking/winking0070.gif)

first of all hope your wife gets better soon JP ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) don't think i have ever had the pleasure of meetin you but i know what you mean about the time wasters. when i was in hospital a few years ago waiting to have my head stitched up (after a collision with a tree ![:-[](http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/ashamed/ashamed0002.gif) ) there was a drunk guy who kept falling into the curtain between our cubicles, there was someone who was quite clearly in need of medicle attention more than that idiot and myself and yet there were several staff trying to get him to lie on the bed with him shouting, swearing etc all the, eventually he tried getting up and hit his head on a sink and then he shut up but it was very annoying, think my dad was in the same position as you, wanting to go punch the drunken idiot.

Hope your good lady is soon 100% better. Agree with you these idiots abusing the system should be charged for the time and attention they demand when it is drink or drugs related. Was admitted myself (not for this reason I might add) just before Christmas and 2 of these characters appeared overnight, the first one seemed OK next morning and left about 7.30, the second one kept everyone else awake for much of the night got up ,drunk large amounts of orange juice and staggered out noisily an hour or so later. Both seemed to be known to the nursing staff. I have a friend who is a para medic, you should hear the stories he has to tell, ambulances called just to get a lift home, but saying they are ill etc.etc. Apart from the cost and the time and effort involved it takes medical attention, often urgent away from those needing it.

JP - Hope you wife is soon on the mend. Share your thoughts on these idiots. My cousin and her husband are both nurses in Wolves and could tell tales weekly of a whole bunch of idiots who are clogging up vital beds & resources from genuinely needy people. A further reflection sadly of the way society is slowly dying on its arse, with a significant minority of scumbags out for purely all they can get out of the system, taking no responsibility for their own actions and expecting everyone else to clear up the mess ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) Until we as a collective with the help of the police, the courts and some brave political decisions correct this slide, it can only get worse ![:(](http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/mad/mad0177.gif) On that happy note I shall now end ![;)](http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/winking/winking0070.gif)

I think i was about 11 possibly younger, not for anything terribly serious. i had to have a blood test and thats all i know. so you can be assured im not a drunken time waster-although i drink too much ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/1258782/images/pqnQOqOSibedLgQPAcub.png)

Only time I've ever been in A&E was because the tip of my finger was sliced in half after an accident at work that rsix witnessed, that was on a Thursday evening and it was quiet in A&E that night compared to some of the stories I've read on here.
