Why waste money on a new scoreboard?
If I had to guess it would be permanent upgrade to the floodlights but then I doubt a big fuss would have been made.

Yeah looks like some kinda LED display Perhaps its electronic pitch side advertising ready for the European games. I often wonder now most league 1 clubs have electronic advertising boards if they pay for themselves through increased revenue?

Not sure but many clubs (like Exeter) have had them for a few years, must have thought it worthwhile, maybe that’s how it works?

Unless the investment strengthens the team, I really don't see the point, but perhaps Mr Wycherley has had a vision...we can but hope.

Shrewsbury Town are delighted to announce a new partnership with George & Co. Investments Ltd – with the firm having installed a giant new scoreboard ahead of tonight’s game against Exeter.
George & Co. Investments Ltd has now become the club’s official technology partner. The partnership will completely revamp the digital experience at the Croud Meadow, significantly improving the matchday experience for fans.
George & Co. has gifted the club a temporary giant screen that was installed on Tuesday and will be in place at the stadium for the next 12 weeks.
The company then plans to gift two new permanent giant screens that will be situated in the northwest and southeast corners of the stadium.
These screens – which are currently in construction and planned to be in place for the New Year – will be the largest scoreboards in the EFL.
The state-of-the-art screens will be able to show high-definition videos, offering a new and enhanced digital advertising opportunity for potential and existing partners.
The screens will also have the ability to play instant replays, allowing for next-level fan engagement.
The temporary screen, which is making its debut against Exeter tonight, will not be used by TNS when they host their Europea Conference League matches at the Croud Meadow.
George & Co. Investments Ltd, founder and CEO, Ross George said: “Being a lifelong Shrewsbury Town fan, it’s a huge privilege to enter into a partnership with Shrewsbury Town.
"George & Co. are proud to be supporting the club with this investment and to be creating a partnership that will enhance the matchday experience for fans."
Shrews CEO, Liam Dooley, said: “This is a truly fantastic partnership for Shrewsbury Town and one that will transform our stadium not just today but futureproof it for years to come.
“It will allow us to generate a whole new level of fan engagement and digital revenue opportunities.
“What Ross and Lydia have done for our football club has left me overwhelmed. The generosity they have shown is nothing short of astounding.
“As a club, we are really looking forward to working with George & Co Ltd and I know fans are going to absolutely love seeing these new state-of-the-art scoreboards at the Croud Meadow."

Hopefully it's a higher quality bit of kit than the rubbish screen at Crawley!

Fair play to everyone involved.
Only criticism from me - can’t it be “Salop” instead of “Shrews”?
