Well here we go taking on the second promoted club from last seasons league 2. Interestingly or worryingly all 3 appear in the top 8 which is an indication just how strong League 2 is 😩 Many relegated clubs queuing up to bounce straight back after relegation out of the league. Another club that’s bounced back after a few years in no league with increased crowds and optimism averaging 7500 last season and surprisingly already sold out for our game!
We last played them in the FA Cup in 2019 with a 2-0 home win and before that did the double in 2014/5.
Another away game that will see good numbers travel with hope that our team will gel and give us something to relieve the depression. Head says best we can hope is it will kick on our season with a 1-1 draw but heart says 1-2🤞

They have a very quick and in form striker in Gregory so we need the Feeney combo in the centre of our defence rather than the very slow defensive partnership we started the season with. A goal for the hard working Lloyd and a clean sheet will do nicely.

Pierre and Nisala would struggle with the pace of someone using a Zimmer frame. I really hope both stay on the bench. |

They have 8 points from a possible 15, with a goal difference of minus one.
Whilst they are doing a lot better than us, they are not pulling up any trees
I hope Perry starts but I doubt it will happen.
It is vital we scored first and dont concede any soft goals.
The crucial question is can we build on our better performance against Charlton but this time find a way of been more composed and clinical in front of goal

Feels like a relatively important game in trying to keep some sort of momentum going and keeping some sort of positivity around the place after an admittedly tricky start. A reasonable performance/result from this would see our last five league games suggesting we've got some of plan and blueprint to try and get survival, and maybe a points total to accompany it. A defeat, especially if it's combined with a s**te performance, and it's 6 defeats from 7 in the league and it's not looking great.
Like Feedo, I'm cautiously optimistic for some reason. Would like to see Perry and O'Reilly start, although not expecting either, and more proactive use of the subs.

Well into September now. Squad isn't going to change for next few months so there needs to be more progress in what this team identity is. Only scored in 2 out of 6 games so far. Some positive signs but needs to get more from this squad and this is an excellent opportunity for that with some tough games coming up.
Hard to tell team as squad is of a fairly decent size and Hurst have had some chopping and changing.
Presume back 5 will stay the same. Winchester and Ojo I reckon will stay. Front 4 though is hard to predict. My guess would be Shipley and Bloxham in for Gilliead and Sagoe Jnr. O'Reilly needs to play for me if fit. And I'd like Perry back in. But we shall see as don't think either will

Old school striker with good movement and can hold a ball up. But yeah don't think he will be chasing many balls in behind. Will keep the defenders busy though, especially as they operate as a genuine front 2 |

A lot depends on whether Hurst gets the balance of his starting XI right. For me, that he needs to include TOR if we are to create chances. A win or even a draw would give us that bit of confidence going into the Rotherham game. I'm going for 1-1. |

Given our poor start to the season you would not expect the mood in the squad to be great but I dont really see the players pulling together as a unit on the pitch at the moment. With our small squad we will need every single player to contribute at some point and a manager generally does not get the best out of his players by criticising them in public. |

Never trust the Star. They have a long history of twisting comments without any context and putting a sensationalised headline for clickbait.
It will most probably be a generalised comment to a leading question levelled out with some positivity. Most like as part of his pre-match interview.

I admire his honesty. It would drive me nuts if anyone was sulking. When he talks about the match afterwards at least I know he’s on the right track trying to fix things. ie getting players forward and closer to Lloyd.

I always say that for comments like that from a manager, the reaction from fans will be different depending on how the team is doing. If we are doing well then it's strong management, no player is bigger than the team. If we are struggling then it's a sign that players are unhappy and the manager is losing the dressing room
Unless the full question and answer is stated in the Star (I can't tell behind a paywall), we don't know the context. It could have been the Star asking something like "you've got players coming back injury and may have to leave some out of the squad, how will you manage that?" and Hurst replies with "it's a nice problem to have and if players are left out, I don't want any sulking". It's a bit different from a headline of "Paul Hurst issues warning to 'sulking' Shrewsbury stars"
