Do they still do travel reports, maybe it's just at peak time. I wanted to know if a road had reopened on my way home, but they went through two news bulletins without a report.

Were they not focussing on the "Big FA Cup tie" at Gainsborough then? That's surprising for Radio Telf, sorry Shropshire.

She is awful, drones on and on but doesn’t make any real point, Steve Cross is just as bad. Thought it’d be a lot easier listen when Bond retired.
Either Nick Southall or Mark Elliott need to be brought back into the role

It’s been bad for a fair while now. Predictable, cliche ridden pre and post match. And it drives me insane the amount of coverage Telford gets whilst we have a game. Honestly, they must be the most well covered club at that level. What is it, step 7 or 8!

Local radio is on the slide full stop.
I'm pretty sure the Radio Shropshire daytime schedule rotates between the same three presenters that are either being worked into the ground or they're airing a lot of pre-recorded content.
Steve Cross offers zero insight. Other than being a bit of a fan boy I have no idea why he's there. And although I thought I'd give the benefit of the doubt to "Mary Kate" she does very much come across as a work experience student.
Then again the heydey of 'James Bond' was hardly stellar listening.
Stuart Dunn basically holds the football coverage together. Without him, I'd dread to think where we'd be.

I'd say Radio Shropshire is pretty honest, but I see what the OP means.
Stuart Dunn is great though, personally I really liked Mark Elliott, unsure what his football pedigree was/is but he understood the game well.
But yes Radio Shropshire is basically Stuart Dunn, very lucky to have him holding the fort.

Saturday was a typical example of losing the audience.
Town had just won 3 points after a win against Orient and I get in the car after the match and then they drone on about Telford & Shifnal for about 15 minutes losing any excitement or buzz after the town game!!
About a grand total of 2000 people in the whole of the county (if that!) actually give a monkeys about those 2 teams so why give them so much air time?

Radio Shropshire has been pretty much trashed along with other local radio stations. It is managed from and run jointly with Stoke, the only dedicated Shropshire coverage is weekday mornings and the sports programme, all the other programmes are shared across several stations which don’t have a lot in common. It has all gone downhill so fast, I don’t bother with it any more, if it can’t be local, I’d rather stick to national radio. The arrival of Radio Shropshire was a wonderful thing - it gave voice to Shropshire people and communities, its culture, landscape and activities, the varied presenters really ‘got’ the county and communicated it well. The BBC really have lost the plot over this, it’s a great shame.

Not too sure about Saturday evening and Sundays as I don't listen then but weekdays 6am until 10am and 10am until 2pm are still broadcast from Shrewsbury. From 2pm Shropshire is tagged on to Hereford and Worcester with some woman called Toni something. She regularly forgets about Shropshire and there are very few Shropshire related items or even requests from Shropshire residents. I've no idea what happens on weekday evenings

Does Beacon Radio still exist? We used to feature on it quite regularly when I worked at Lockwell Lectrics, entering pretty much every quiz they had going. The best was when we won 6 large pizzas, delivered by the Breakfast Show team after the show finished. The four of us were stuffed

I think it’s important to understand that Mary on RS is very new and also young. I’m sure none of us were the finished article in our jobs in our teens/early twenties.
Also, RS made some considerable cutbacks like many local BBC stations have had too and as a result a greater focus on apprenticeships will be in place.

The four of us were stuffed sadly no, not since about 15 years ago, not really sure what happened to it, got taken over as part of a merger I think, shame I I liked it too and sometimes used to ring the midnight debate back in the 90s, also used to tune into signal radio too if town were playing stoke or vale etc

Never enjoyed Radio Shropshire coverage outside of Dunny, although that said haven't listened to pre and post match stuff for ages. In the same way can't listen to 5 live or talk sport. Just doesn't really interest me anymore.
In the times I've caught Mary-Ellen (I think that's her name), she seems fine. Better than James Bond from a few years ago who was very grating.
Co Comms is mostly underwhelming/annoying. Didn't really like Mark Elliott and Steve Cross is just absolutely awful. They had a guy on last season who was on a few times and he just spoke in clichés the whole time and didn't really know what he was talking about half the time. Flanagan was entertaining though, but that was mainly because he was just slagging people off!
Wasn't Elliott Bennett going to be involved? Only think listened to 1 match this season and it wasn't him.

On the topic of Radio Shropshire does anyone know if its possible to boost the FM signal when going away from home?
I normally take my small Dab+/FM portable radio into the ground and listen in one ear when at home, was very surprised when going away to Vale and couldn't pick up Radio Shropshire. - I did switch to Radio Stoke but they were of course broadcasting Stoke Cities game.
Recently noticed that you can get a patchy signal of Radio Shropshire as far South as the hills to the North of Bristol.
Just handy for any away days etc.

Don't know what it is for radio Shropshire but the rajar figures for local radio in general have been falling for years. Shropshire has a really quite small population, and not a really strong local identity.

Am I right in thinking that the License fee doesn't cover Radio?
