I loved Beacon Radio. It was based in Tettenhall Road, Wolverhampton. I went there a few times in the evening usually when we were doing a bit of charity work. Sometimes a guest wouldn't turn up and they'd ring me in a panic and ask if I could go down and fill the empty slot talking about our latest charity venture, because they knew I only lived about 10 minutes away. They were very professional and would introduce me as if it was a planned interview.
I've also been on the stage at The Grand Theatre and was interviewed by Ed Doolan live for Radio WM. The theatre was packed just to see me.....oh alright, Ed was presemting his live radio show, and once again a guest didn't turn up. We were holding a street collection about two hundred yards away in Wolvo city centre. Again, I was asked to fill in the vacant slot. I was a bit miffed, because I kept thinking about all the money we could have raised if I'd been in Queen Square/Dudley Street. (I think we were raising money for the local branch of MENCAP). When I got to the theatre there was mass panic behind the scenes, but Ed Doolan came out to shake hands, and he was calmness itself. I wasn't nervous in the slightest, I was used to accepting cheques from local schools, domino/darts leagues, etc, so it was water off a duck's back. Any road up, it didn't do us any harm, because people came up to me when I was back collecting ,saying they'd seen me on the stage. A good tip I was given early on, was don't look out at the gathered group, because your eye will be taken by someone picking their nose or something, always look just over their yeds.

Am I right in thinking that the License fee doesn't cover Radio? AHH,now that could be a trick question 😳 We purchase a TV Licence and Ive never heard of anyone being prosecuted for not having a radio licence. I take the view that my TV Licence pays for all things BBC

Am I right in thinking that the License fee doesn't cover Radio? That is correct for listening to bbc sounds or on the radio , I never knew that until I just looked it up , I do have a licence and when I'm looking for something to watch on iPlayer it amazing how much I've actually already watched , it seems inevitable but it will be a shame the day the bbc loses the licence privilege I do love it on here when one or two boast they don't have a licence and don't watch the bbc and then a while later get heavy into a debate about something they watched last night on the bbc 😝

The difference being that you chose whether to pay for those but not the BBC

The big lad got all nostalgic for Tina Turner (RIP) and accidentally let slip he’d watched some BBC material, starkly at odds with his defund the BBC tub-thumping. blueandamber.proboards.com/thread/105984/abolish-license-fee?page=2

Thought Tolley was much better than Cross, and also not as biased and a lot more realistic.

If you text in anything about Roland on the verdict it’s not going to be read out FYI. They’ll censor anything that attacks the board.

Thought Tolley was much better than Cross, and also not as biased and a lot more realistic. I love Crossy for everything he did as a STFC player during a great era for the club (albeit it was slightly before my time), and it’s great to see that he’s still a keen supporter of the club, and I think still has a season ticket in Block 14, but his summarising in recent years had left me feeling quite baffled at times and had got me thinking if I was watching the same game as him! Tolley did okay I thought, although it was amusing to hear him repeatedly saying that the players need to ‘get stuck in’ as he very much used to do himself as a player, he wasn’t wrong of course but he definitely reiterated it quite often during the 90 minutes.

Anyone know what happened to the feed in the second half? It cut out more than a second hand lawnmower.
