Despite the win on Tuesday, it has to be admitted that our defence was far from good. That includes Savin.
So what do others think our line up should be for the next game?

Feeney done well 2nd half,so hopefully him and josh Feeney(when fit) will be the main centre back pairings.benning and hoole look ok,as for Savin, I'm totally unconvinced by him ATM...I said after the derby game that there wasn't much between the 2 keepers, and would say that Young's passing out and kicking are better than savins.also toto needs to speed up,or is that his full pace now!

We don't know what the situation is with George Nurse and Josh Feeney at the moment as to when they will both ready for first team consideration.
We can just hope that the defence begins to gel the more time they spend together. The options to change are pretty limited at the moment.

Much concerned! Savin is a howler-in-waiting. Pierre is statuesque. Hoole loves a dodgy late tackle. Feeney can't run. We surely can't rely on a 19yo Feeney Jr to solve our problems?
I say all this but...I think Pierre and Nsiala have been okay. Feeney is a good CB. Benning and Hoole have been good. Maybe Feeney Jr will be brilliant. Savin can only get better.

Savin did definitely worry me. Hope game time will help, but did wonder if he really doesn't cut the mustard whether a late loan deal might be on cards.
But he's been signed as first team keeper, so he will stay in the team for now.
Hoole and Benning are nailed on really.
Pierre to me hasn't been a league one defender in several years, even given the odd decent performance.
So right now has to be Nsiala and Feeney.
Hopefully Josh Feeney can come in when fit, and Nurse too, although any expectations on Nurse have to be pretty limited given his hugely limited game time over last couple of years

It could be Feeney and Feeney as a centre half pairing.

Nurse needs to be played in very gradually over several weeks once fit to be considered. And I'm sure he will have his own doubts after the last couple of years. Dont expect him to just pick up from where he left off, that's very unlikely to happen.

Pierre looks as if he needs to lose a stone in weight.

The more I hear Hursts responses to questions about Nurse the more I begin to think that Hurst thinks he’s ready but it’s Nurse that’s holding back . Perhaps he retains a worry about a possible career ending injury if he comes back , in his mind , too soon ?! 🤔

Nsiala has so far not looked the player he was when he was 1st with us.
But I have to give him preference over Pierre.

Perhaps Savin needs to put ON a stone.
At the moment he's not commanding his area and needs to have more of a presence in the box.

But it's not surprising he feels like it after the last 2 seasons.

Perhaps Savin needs to put ON a stone. At the moment he's not commanding his area and needs to have more of a presence in the box. He has had a number of injuries and he only played ten games last season, neither of which will have helped his confidence. Also a number of people have expressed concerns about our center backs if that is the case that won't have helped and it takes time for players to get on each others wavelength. If the kepoer is a bit wobbly and the center backs are also a bit wobbly it could also lead to confidence issues The coach really needs to get the defence doing lots of practice and develop a good working understanding and build up their confidence, the goalkeepering coach has a role to play in this.

Pierre does always look like he's blowing out of his proverbial after 5 minutes.

Honestly I suspect Savin is the stronger of the two keepers, and whether it’s Feeney and Toto or Feeney and Pierre will not be a huge difference in quality, so Hurst just needs to decide on his preference and hope that as a unit they gel and improve.
Hoole will have to play right back for the foreseeable, and probably committing sacrilege here in saying that Benning defensively is very weak, he was getting skinned every 5 minutes on Tues. Also worth saying that I don’t think that they were getting much protection from the midfield.

Nsiala has so far not looked the player he was when he was 1st with us. . Its been 6 years since he left us and he is now 32 years of age so that shouldn't be too much of a surprise. With regard to him and Pierre, my view is lots of fans were happy to see them sign because of a misty eyed view of them based on when they were playing at their peak for us. However times change and they are not those same players, hopefully they can get back to those levels but it's a huge ask. Playing one of the two might just about be ok, playing both together is asking for trouble.

I didn’t go on Tuesday but it seems that B&A posters are a much better judge of a GK than Man United scouts 😏

Do we have anyone in the squad capable of playing as a sweeper to give the vulnerable center backs some extra support.

Toto needs an organiser alongside him. As has been said previously, Sadler was very important to how he played last time. Particularly first half on Tuesday, McGoldrick just played off Toto and his movement kept pulling him out of position. At the moment I'm not sure who the organiser at the back is going to be.

For a young guy Feeney is pretty mature, it could be him.
