I’m a traditionalist, fish, chips with generous salt and vinegar.
As a concession to living in the North for over 50 years I’ll add mushy peas.

Jumbo sausage, fishcake and cone of chips Or mini fish and cone of chips.
No sauce No salt or vinegar. I add my own salt as most chippies put too much on. Hate the taste of vinegar.

It wouldn't batter what mine was. Our chippy shut for a couple of weeks on July 10th for 2 weeks holiday. It will reopen the fust wick in September if other years are anything to go by,. the whole family go back to Turkey. Not good news for our tourist industry.
Good news for the Chinese and Indian lovers. (me includud).

I must be one of the few who don't like chips. I go for large Haddock with mushy peas(the real radioactive glowing ones) and bread and butter. Maybe a potato scallop

When I was a kid it was S&K pie and chips from the local chippy .
Lovely on a cold day bought on the way home from the match.

Best chips I've ever had were not from the UK but from a small take away in De Haan, Belgium. They were chunky chips for sure!

Not keen on the modern chip, they seem the aim is to make them as thick and chunky as possible and getting bigger all the time. More like potato wedges with more potato than fried outside. Happening more and more especially in pubs and restaurants as well. Give me good old skinny home cut chips any time.

Is the chippy that was under the railway bridge by the station still going?
When, on a matchday I used to come in on the train (a long time ago now!) from Tywyn the chippy was always the first port of call before heading to the Proud Salopian for a beer or two...
