This game was not very good for my blood pressure, if England was a cat I think they used some of its nine lives to win that game. Ref was dire but we won Let us hope the manager reflects on this game and we see a better performance next time.

Left footed players on the right, right footed on the left. Slows everything down while they turn inside to their stronger foot. Get Saka off for Palmer and Bellingham or Foden off for Gordon. And have Watkins warming up. We don’t have a left footed left back, so let’s play Saka there and start Palmer on the right wing. Saka looked more comfortable there than Trippier and he has the ability to take on the defender on his outside. Trippier didn’t once try to take on the defender. He cut back every time ; sideways and backwards. Arrgghhh ! This said, the Swiss will murder us if we play like we did today.

And have Watkins warming up. Liverpool under klopp managed to play some of the most aggressive and quality attacking football in recent history using salah and mane cutting in. Palmer, Saka and Gordon all reached double digits assists and goals cutting in as well. It's all in the set up and Southgates drilling of the team to play conservative, slow football. It's been the same since he took over. It gets results no doubt but it's torturous watching and it usually comes up short against teams of genuine quality. Even more infuriating because as soon as England drive forward and loosen the shackles we look a highly effective team.

Spain.....that's how you play fast attacking football..... quality and yet for over an hour it had big shock written on it , Georgia had an attempt from halfway like Slovenia did to go back in front , no game is safe until you go a couple of goals in front Great effort from them

Switzerland looked everything Italy and England aren't. A team. And now we face the side you have bigged up , so they should beat us then ? , if we lose maybe we can forgot how good they were against Italy and concentrate on them failing to beat Scotland 😝😝

Thought Rice put in a real shift for the team today and kept trying to drive us forward. We have not got the right players to play a back four so I would play a back three of Stones, Walker and Guehi (Konsa for the next game as Guehi is suspended). I would play Alexander- Arnold and Saka as high right and left wingbacks which would help Rice to control the midfield better. Palmer looks our most confident player on the ball at the moment and could start either on the right or left. Toney did well when he came on and his ability to hold the ball could be useful with Kane dropping off him and Bellingham and Foden breaking from midfield.

International football and club football are 2 different games , seems bizarre but they are What's the difference then? You see the players every day as a club manager and once in a blue moon as an international manager! Most players are also fairly dumb, so keep it simple ie. England pass it around the back four until the opposition/fans fall asleep then aimlessly hump it forward hoping for a lucky break!

I would fine Pickford heavily when he gores walk-about outside his penalty box, a bit like Marosi does. How could we forget his nightmare at Oxford? Pickford so nearly had egg on his face tonight.

We all know the quality Foden has but he yet to show even a glimpse of it this Tournament. I think he needs dropping for the next game and Gorden/Palmer should come in.

Seems too obvious but for a team to play the football that Southgate is trying to play the players have to gel and understand each others games. Something very difficult when you only play together a few times a year.

I think Pickford has been one of England's best goalkeepers for years but, in this tournament when England have generally been struggling, his constant shouting at the defenders (mentioned by Guehi in his press conference) and the rather erratic movement you pointed out have made the back line even more unsettled. Lee Dixon was not impressed by it either in his commentary. No doubt Pickford will have to make a few more saves than he has already against Switzerland and that might concentrate his mind more.

Blimey. Crazy, crazy few minutes... I do think for the most part we were poor again and I think the criticism that has been expressed again this morning is justified despite the win. Way too many times for example, you had England players looking about and throwing their hands up in frustration that there was nothing on for them. But saying that; they kept going, I think the energy was much better this time around and such a turnaround might well be the spark to something better. And just great to still be apart of things for another week of course.

In his defence, he probably did not expect us to lay it off perfectly for the opposition straight from our own free kick!

That Spanish wideman, Williams, should come on loan to us. We could pay him 400 quid a wick and we'd turn him into a footballer. The England team have no confidence. I'm a big fan of Saka, but he seemed scared to run at the full back. Sack the manager if he doesn't go as a volunteer. Switzerland will roll us over. They must be yodelling their socks off.

Shrewsbury Town might not have enough money to be an automatic top of the table team, but if Hurst can turn us into a " don't leave early" team like England, something we certainly haven't been for a long while, then it will be a great start and an exciting season.

All part of Southgate's cunning plan to sneak up on the rails without the crazy hype about winning it that is usually whipped up about this time in any competition? Probably not.

I was reading Alan Shearer on the BBC site this morning and he was talking about how we have to accept that this is Southgate's style of play. I would say that the sit back and defend a lead style is something which has been in place for some time and which some of us have been complaining about. However, for me that isn't the issue, the big problem is we look so disjointed and have no fluency as an attacking unit, we've gone backwards (which ironically is what our midfield tend's to do). People keep saying we will improve and could possibly play better against the better nations, I think that's just blind hope because I've seen nothing to suggest that this team is improving as the tournament progresses.
Saying that, whilst I'm far from Southgate's biggest fan, I recognise the good he has done and would have hated for us to lose last night and him going out with the 'shame' of a defeat to Slovakia. I wouldn't be surprised if we lose on Saturday but have a feeling we may scrape through before a defeat in the semi-final which means he will bow out with a bit of dignity.

No other manager at this tournament would have had Alexander-Arnold sitting on the bench for that entire game - don't often agree with Neville but he was right in saying it should be illegal to not play him.
The most talented right back the world has ever seen yet he will persist with Walker who got skinned countless times. I get playing Walker over Trent for more " defensive stability" but if Walker isn't providing that then what is the point?
