Also surprised that there could be 6 defenders in the squad in Dunkley, Feeney, Sraha, Benning, Pierre and Nurse and yet none of them will be a specialist right back.
I'd presumed that there will be additions to cover the right side but that's already quiet some squad, either its going to be bigger than we have seen or it will be some campaign to justify.

Slightly surprised with the state of the finances that it was not more draconian ? It probably isn't over yet. Dunkley and Marosi have been offered "New" deals which is code for reduced terms. Both will surely turn them down. Under contract players may attract interest, Shipley and Winchester are proven performers. Feeney and Bloxham's potential may also have admirers. That's all of our first eleven accounted for unless Benning re-signs.

Slightly surprised with the state of the finances that it was not more draconian ? It hasnt yet been anounced that Micky Moore is back off to Cheltenham so his (no doubt) significant wages will be saved as well as the players leaving.

After having a few days and a few well earned beers to think about who has been offered new terms and who has been shown the door so to speak I must say that I for one am looking forward to the next season we will get a chance to see some new players representing our club and welcoming some new teams and get the chance to vist a few different grounds.

About right isn’t it? Two players for each position. Maybe a fifth centre half required for some added depth if PH fancies a five at the back for some of the more difficult games.

Slightly surprised with the state of the finances that it was not more draconian ? High wage earners trimmed? Any inappropriate expenses trimmed? Maybe the finance situation has been moved from going down the plughole to a slightly more sustainable future?

In the absence of any information coming from the club, I guess we will just have to wait until the next set of accounts to find out

That was supposed to be the model last summer too. I was going to say it will be interesting whether we stick with that or revert back to Hurst's previous spell of signing older players such as Rodman, Junior Brown, John-Lewis, etc., however that's probably harsh as we did sign youngsters too (Bolton, Zak Jules, ,Eisa, Gnahoua), plus of course the signings of Toto & Nolan went on to make us significant money. In fact, they were probably the last players we signed and then sold?

The door is now closed on this season's team, a fresh start. MM and PH are going to be very busy. In the old model that would have filled up BC's workload, now we have MM, so we don't take the CEO away from what they should be doing. We can also expect MM to try to sort out the Academy, we released 3 from that in the retained list, in future something has to change there. That's something I don't think BC really had as an objective.

I'm glad Pryce has been given the chance to train with us again, I'm surprised we kept Mata Mata - long term loan to Ireland for the next 2 years perhaps? It's bad enough MM feeling that he has to sign up cheap options like Mata and Idowu, but to award both of them contracts until 2026 is way off the scale! Given the rumours of what we paid for Mata, I'd be surprised if the club wrote him off this quickly. Think he needs the summer off (he went from LoI to us without a break, had the visa issue, played under Taylorball then has gone back out on loan), then be given a clean shot in pre season. I would imagine Idowu will be sent on a season long loan to a lower League 2/National League club. Not even seena glimpse to suggest he's good enough

Who remembers Fred Davies taking the reins in the 90s after the departure of John Bond? The first thing he did was to organise a trial match for out of contract, released players from other clubs. He then gave contracts to the best of the bunch and built a team from them and the retained players from the Bond era. How did that work out? Well, 9 months later we left L2 as Champions! Proof that you can build a competitive team in a short period of time.

No. Work commitments meant I could not do many away games other than local derbies. That changed with relegation to the Conference and I have been a regular traveller ever since.

Surprised that there have been no messages from the club that I may have missed or Twots from those in the know but I have heard that NO academy players have been kept on and those who may have hoped to turn pro have been released
If so it is not a very good pointer to the future with no one currently coming through on the fringes of the first team.
It would indicate a huge failure imo

It would indicate a huge failure imo The whole profile of the academy has diminished since David Longwell left. Added to that, the media team doesn’t seem interested in promoting it. As has been said elsewhere, if it’s not producing players for the senior team, then having an academy at U18 level looks like an expensive luxury. It doesn’t help that reserve football has pretty well disappeared as far as I can see, so there is no real bridge between the youth and senior squads.

I would imagine we'll have seem the last of Marosi and Dunkley. Likely due to a combination of low-ball offers and the downward trajectory this club is travelling in. Like everyone else I have no idea who will be heading up the recruitment. I have little faith in MM building on last years attempt.
If it's left to Hurst then I'd suggest we are also in the deep doodoo. Lets cast aside those rose tinted glasses and look at his attempts to build sides since he left us. Three of PH's four EFL openings have been simply disastrous. Two of those at L2 level with decent budgets. I'm aware pointing out these clear fallacies will have many of his faithful disciples frothing but it simply is what it is. My only hope that RW is brave enough take corrective action next season before it's too late.

My only hope that RW is brave enough take corrective action next season before it's too late. Obviously lets hope it doesn't come to that, but should we have a bad start then I don't see Roland rushing into taking any action and for two reasons. Firstly, it would mean the 4th manager in under 2 years, that would not reflect well on Roland/Mickey, along with the financial implications of it. Secondly, is simply because I suspect Roland is one of the biggest 'faithful disciples'.
