Worcester going along very nicely at Edgbaston 177-1 Serious question marks about the future of New Road as a venue for championship cricket. Would be a very sad day indeed if this iconic ground was lost to cricket. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/68723665

Who here believes the physical County Championship trophy is the grimmest thing ever?
It literally looks like the trophy you get for winning the mixed doubles plate competition at a parish tennis club.

Any fringe opinions out there on favourite player? 94% of B&Aers at the most recent poll said this man: www.kiaoval.com/our-squad/sam-curran/I quote: “ONE OF THE BIGGEST TALENTS IN WORLD CRICKET, SAM CURRAN IS RESPECTED ACROSS THE GLOBE” I’d love to hear who the other 6% get more giddy about.

A very good opening day for Glamorgan at Lords.
Sam Northeast closing in on a double hundred.
He's been a consistent performer throughout his career but never got the chance at test level.

Worcester with the upper hand but the damn weather has intervened ! Sadly, yes. Meanwhile it's a run fest at Lords, after scoring 620 for 3 I thought Glamorgan would walk it, no such chance.

Two matches abandoned without a ball being bowled in four days. How ridiculous to start on 5 April. Hampshire go all the way to Durham and sit in the changing room or hotel all the time.

It literally looks like the trophy you get for winning the mixed doubles plate competition at a parish tennis club. Yes it is pretty underwhelming, isn’t it? Even so, I prefer it to the gigantic, tacky monstrosity which is awarded to the Premier League winners. I thought it excessive and tasteless 30 odd years ago when it first appeared and haven’t revised my opinion. I suppose it does serve as a fitting metaphor for the obscene money machine which is the Premier League. Apologies for sitting on the fence.

The ECB experiment with the Kookaburra ball on slow April pitches needs some explanation. Earlier I watched the tedious end to the game where a weakened Somerset team and a Kent team lacking in confidence - two of last year’s most flaky batting lineups - managed to bat each other into oblivion.
I fail to see how this advances the development of potential test players.
Mind you, Sam Cook of Essex blew Notts away. The latter’s attempt to buy success by signing up anyone not poached by Surrey has not got off to the best of starts.

At last, some decent weather for the second round of county championship games.

Sad to read that Derek Underwood, the great England and Kent bowler, has died, aged 78.

I'm guessing that Worcester would probably have been happy with 27 points out of W**********e & Notts before the start of the Season ?

I'm wondering whether they'll be able to site the cameras for Worcester's 2 games at Kidderminster.
Facilities are somewhat basic there.

How's your boy doing? He doesn't figure on the batting list but I managed to find him lurking at 14th on the bowling one. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/averagesI see Punjab Kings have made him captain too, taken in by the hype no doubt as they languish in 7th place, now 9th place.

Are you watching? wccc.co.uk/I'm not sure I would want to park my car so close to the boundary! and Jason Holder towers above everyone else, he must be 6ft 5 plus...

Worcs 184 all out. Should have played another batsman to replace the injured Kashif - Pollock perhaps?
D'Oliveira coming in at 3 and Holder at 6 doesn't inspire me with much confidence.

Worcs 104/4 when they needed to bat out the day as tomorrow is likely to be a washout.
Words fail me!

Another defeat for the Punjab Kings under the captaincy of one Sam Curran.
Now last but one in the IPL table.

Watching the Worcester v Somerset game at Kidderminster on the live stream, it seemed to me that nearly all the spectators huddled in overcoats and jumpers were over 50 and predominantly male.
Sadly, it seems that T20 has taken away the younger element from watching the traditional county games, and that when the existing spectators die, they're not likely to be replaced.
