Hurst has changed the level of entertainment dramatically and today we got the points that recent performances have deserved and we are to give him no credit? How ridiculous. We’ve switched formation with the same personnel and are better for it ffs.
Today was wonderful. Another one to remember. We have had so few of those in recent League One years.
As for the game specifically, it was a simply brilliant 5 minutes followed by a poor and exposed 25 minutes and then a great response, tactical tweak and overall deserved away victory.
Bowman didn’t offer us much but we got away with that today, as we did with Feeney first half. We seemed to protect him much better second half.
Fantastic win.

Reading haven't lost at home in the league since 9th December... First things first...we were best all over the park from start to finish. We were insanely good. Feeney was the only one who had a bit of a struggle at times as they tried to exploit him being out of position as often as they could. We were in control for 80% of the game, it was as close to domination as I've seen from a Town side in many years. Marosi - 6 Benning - 7 Pierre - 6 Dunkley - 6 Feeney - 6 Shipley - 7 Winchester - 7 Hinchy - 7 Bloxham - 8 Bayliss - 7 Bowman - 7 Sraha - 7 Kenneh - 6 Were we at the same game? My first Salop match for a good few years, and the kids' first, and the boy even had the audacity to ask me if we could go home at half time. Mate, I've watched town seasons where it's taken a month to reach 2 goals, never mind 6 minutes. Sit down, shut up, drink it in. Gonna have to wait for the highlights as my eyesight didn't do those goals justice, but feels like a bit of a smash and grab. They had a lot of possession and were a constant threat down our right 1st half, luckily we fixed that send half by ... Sitting back and letting them come on from wherever! Luckily that meant it turned into just a tired melee in the middle and I didn't see much threat despite the increased possession. Think both sets of fans will agree the ref was pretty awful, missing a lot of things then blowing for nothing until the last 25 when I think he'd had a bit too much chat from reading and might have favoured us a bit. All that said the positivity was tangible, Salop fans understandably with squeaky bum syndrome for 85 minutes but in fine form at the end, a great turnout, topped off with Hursty's passable Klopp impression. Most enjoyable away game since 10 man town's 1-0 smash and grab against Plymouth with an 80+ minute Jemmo lob.

Mr Simbianbenzoate...the fact it's your first game in years answers your first question 🤣 we have been shocking for years. This was the best we've played in a long long time. I'm really glad this was your kids first. My 7yo was at the reverse fixture where we scored two injury time goals in extra time. Scenes!!!!

Surprised not to see O'Brien. Lovely stadium the royals have, and we got speaking to a good few locals and they are nice folks.

Yes Hurst has changed formations......but most of us posters were harping on about changing it months ago.....but Taylor never done it!!....by doing it,Hurst has got us playing some entertaining in stuff, especially away from home, something that was missing from Taylor big time.hopefully we can grab another couple of away wins, somewhere along the line........UTS

Wasn't there much listened in, Well done to the team and everyone going there, I could hear the Salop support roaring on the radio.
Seemed that Shipley was the main man?

Hurst gets no credit from me yet. He has only done what any other half decent manager could have done. I'm sure most of us on here could have improved us compared to MT. Gutted that you wernt given the job to be honest pughy. Would've enjoyed you cantering us to six on the bounce as soon as Winchester was dropped. Maybe next time I'll be able to use my extensive experience playing football manager.

What the hell id up with everyone. Two things were needed in another manager…… to get the best out of the players we have and to keep us in L1.

He was worth an 8 for that save late on alone. Bloxham my MOM for overall performance and that goal.

All about opinion Pilch ! of course, but mine is correct ;-) my opinion is Pierre has done his groin too, badly , be lucky if we see him again pughy thinks we should put a bit of butter on his knee ;-) Losing Pierre would be a big blow for us as I think he’s done much better than I expected to be honest . Pleased Shipley and Bayliss turned up at last . I’ve been very critical of the two of them but let’s hope today’s game was a turning point for both . Should have got at least a point against Wigan and possibly 3 against Barnsley . That’s a good 3 points onto our total but thinking of the Reading faithful , bloody hell they must hate us . Let’s see if we can get 3 points next match , confidence must be high in the group .

The one thing I feel the players will take from todays game is confidence and the fact that we can score goals.

Well done Town
A superb 3 points against a team with one of the best home records in the league
Further strengthens my opinion that with Hurst in charge, we won’t be getting relegated

Most enjoyable away game since 10 man town's 1-0 smash and grab against Plymouth with an 80+ minute Jemmo lob. 11 August 2001, I was at that game, we had Mark Cartwright in goal. Today was wonderful fun, and having crafted three excellent goals it's impossible to say we didn't deserve that. I expected an onslaught second half but the reality was we dealt with everything Reading had pretty comfortably in the end. Shipley's goal was heading right for Button until it nicked off a defender and wrong footed him, but his technique to hit a moving ball in the air like that was phenomenal. The second was superbly worked and the third a fine move and an absolute worldie of a finish. You'll struggle to see a better goal than any of those in the league this weekend. Their first goal it was Feeney out of position playing Smith onside, and their equaliser could have finished up anywhere after the wicked deflection, just our luck it went in. All told though, an immensely enjoyable game, one that will definitely go pretty close to the top of my favourite away days, Reading are no mugs at home and while today might have been an off day, we worked hard, and even Bowman showed his worth with a decent shift, and it all helped Reading make too many mistakes to ever really gain any momentum. The only negative was probably Kennah, my goodness, that man cannot pass a football five yards, the number of times he gave it away on the time he was on the pitch. For a long time I was confident under Taylor, despite the awful football and the somewhat quite often fortuitous results, that we'd stay up, but given the current league table I'm absolutely convinced now that if he'd have stayed we'd inevitably have been relegated. There's absolutely no way we'd have won that today under Taylor, and right through the team you can see the changes that Hurst has made. Roll on Lincoln, nice to be able to get to a Tuesday night away game, hoping for more of the same.

Viewed the highlights now, Shipley's goal is Scholes like, although yes it looks deflected. He seemed up for it and worked well for the 2nd and 3rd. Looks like Reading also cut Town to pieces, the first goal Pierre is far too slow and for the 2nd its a deflection from Feeney.

Wow them Reading fans on their forum are something else.
The arrogance before and after the game would suggest that they are actually a good team. I suggest they have a look at the league 1 table. You only have to be not terrible to get into the top 10 this season.
" dunno what you lot saw, I thought we were on top throughout, utterly dominant and bizarrely robbed of three points. Sure the Shrews were managing the second half but if Reading played that game 10 times they’d have won 9 of them."
"Shrewsbury were terrible and were dominated for all but the first 5 minutes of the match. They didn't deserve a thing but they rightly won't care because they the points."
Someone correct me but I can only remember the chance where the RW cut the ball back and smashed it at Marosi and the 2 goals. Other than that I fail to remember a save that Marosi had to make. We conceded possession and managed the game. We were in control of the game 2nd half despite Reading throwing everything at us.
Just checked, they managed a massive 3 shots on target over the 99 minutes of football against a team sitting back. (We managed 5)

Great stuff lads - a victory away against one of the current form teams at home. Pleased for Bloxham who has deserved that for his efforts since he returned. Our third league double of the season (after Fleetwood and Northampton) lets try to keep this going. How much would you have bet someone in December that would have been impossible! Not a lot!

I’d say when you’re 2-0 down at home after five minutes you lose the right to claim you were the better team and were robbed.
Brilliant win, and for all their possession in the second half Marosi had one save to make, I felt relatively comfortable that we’d see it out.
Solid team performance, Bloxham a constant threat but also Shipley has walked away with a goal and two assists, it’s crazy to think how much more we have going forward now than earlier in the season.
The win is huge as it’s dragged other teams into the relegation battle now, the other four teams on 38 points will be feeling a little more nervous this morning.
