Just realised that this board is well past it's 20th birthday.
I transferred from the old board,on 31st May 2004 ,and I've always been gainsparkshrew even though I haven't lived there for 15 years
Who else was around in those days and what was your user name and any memories?

My memories are just of users who don’t post any more for one reason or another. Particularly youngsters who now have their own families.

According to my profile I registered my account on Oct 1, 2003 at 9:46am so not sure when B&A was first opened up for business. But for sure the same account and same handle. If I have it right we were 6th in the Conference having lost 1-0 to Barnet the Saturday before.  |

Board was created on sept 30th 2003
Rivals were randomly locking all forums after David beckham legal threats about affairs with Rebecca loos
We used this as a temp board in the evenings
And then 2004 rivals was increasingly becoming unusable with bugs and pop ups and having financial problems , we switched permanently , rivals went under it long later

I’ve also been here from the start and was an early poster on the Rivals board.
Before we had to register I used a variety of names that I thought fitted the subject of the thread and also some characters I thought amusing like Rupert Steele-Groynes who was a Tim nice but dim type and Professor Farnsworth who just declared ‘good news everyone’.
When we had to register I was davefromalty but changed it because it was not accurate, I’m from Shrewsbury and just live in Alty. My user name is the stage billing of my granddad who was a professional singer.
My proudest memory is being first back from Rochdale to report on our 7 - 1 win in February 2001.
Like ssshrew I miss many of our disappeared posters, but not all! But it seems for each one that leaves a new one appears.

Ha, I was October 1st as well, but at 08:02 🤣😂👍🏻 Was Southeastshrew for a while, as I lived in Essex at the time, at least until 2007 when I moved to Stowmarket and changed my username. I was on the rivals board as well, and for those with very long memories I was also on the Ian Whitfield run email list from about 1995 onwards. |

Was going to post this earlier and question the dates a little. Glad i waited as reading through the recent posts it answers quite a lot.
I'm registered as 30th Jan 2004 at 6.28 (I'm guessing in the evening rather than the morning as it's unlikely I'd be on here that early in the morning).
My biggest memory (which is why I was questioning things in my head) was the huge outpouring of sympathy we had from other clubs supporters when it was confirmed our relegation into the abyss of the Conference a few months earlier. The recent posts have answered the questions I was asking, it was the previous incarnation of Rivals.

amazingly the board now has 1,680,868 posts, I can remember sitting tracking the 500,000 post which was from Carter ( Chris Allen ) and I started a thread about it blueandamber.proboards.com/thread/50677/half-post-award-goesno doubt had I not deleted a few posts we would be somewhere nearer 1,680,900 now ;-) |

I’m confused by seeing I didn’t register until the end of November 2003. Did this board run in parallel with Rivals or could we post on here as guests? I know I posted regularly somewhere wel before 2003.
I do remember some controversy when registration became compulsory but don’t recall when that was.

Been here pretty much from the start I think, username was Schizo, I adopted that name as someone used to call me it at school… because it sounded similar to my surname! I decided to bin it off last year as didn’t think it was appropriate anymore.

I was also on the mailing list, I can't recall exactly when that started but I do recall being on it when I was at university just before I headed off to Germany so I'm guessing before 2000. Not sure how many were on it either but from that to where we are now (looking to those numbers above) is quite something. All down to Whits getting the ball rolling of course...👍

If I remember correctly both boards ran in tandem for a while, in fact I'm sure I remember a poll at one point asking for people's preferences. I also remember voting that I'd rather go back to the rivals board 😂🤣
The email list was pretty basic, and I don't remember there being a huge amount of activity. I signed up pretty soon after I went to university so sometime after late 1995, and was on it for a few years but my memory isn't good enough to recall when that stopped and rivals started to take over, I'd imagine late 1990's probably.
Crazy, where the hell has the time gone?!

My most vivid memory of the Rivals board was just how far ahead of the curve Stutty was in calling our relegation back in 2003. Was the B&A betting league that PILCH ran on rivals or on here? Absolutely fantastic that was.
