Perry came on, got a yellow, gave away a penalty and at one point with a corner he was busy looking up the pitch ignoring the ball coming in.
Shame we couldn’t hold on, but it was almost a miracle they hadn’t scored before hand with the chances they had.

Excellent point. We had the better chances through 80 and shouldve been out of sight but suffered with tiring legs against high class opposition.
I'm looking forward once again to this summer to clear out the utter chaff on our bench.
Really pleasing to see us stringing passes together with only two weeks of the oracles coaching.
Salop salop salop.

A great battling performance against a very good side and gives plenty of hope that we have enough to stay up. A draw was fair but what a cruel way to lose the three points. There weren't a lot of protests from our players over the penalty. Perry was just very clumsy and gave the Barnsley player the excuse to go down.

Great effort Town. Unlucky not to take all three but Barnsley were really putting us under some pressure, and we did ride our luck a bit. Perry with a lazy lunge at the end of the game. Could maybe have understood if he'd played the 90 and it was a tired challenge, but he'd only been on a few minutes!

A draw probably fair after an entertaining game. The weather and the pitch led to both teams making lots of mistakes.
Every single player played well tonight (those who started). They put 110% in tonight and they played very well. Couldn't have wished for any better against a very good Barnsley side.
Marosi was faultless all night with some great saves. Bloxham was a constant threat and deserves a few assist with the great balls he put into the box Both CB's were getting on the end of everything Bayliss for the first time since coming back from injury looked like the player we know and love Benning is turning into our star player with his consistently quality performances. Shipley got down the wing well and was a constant threat.
Tonight's performance reminded me of nearly every performance in Hursts first spell with us. Get in front early, defend well and counter. It is a real shame we could not hang on to the lead but lots of positive to take from tonight's game.
Only 4 points from the drop zone now having played 2/3 more games than those around us. We need another positive result on Saturday.
5.5k fans there for a night game is also impressive! The crowd did really well to back the team.

As a side note how poor is Cosgrove now! He looks miserable. He missed a sitter from 5 yards and didn't even look disappointed.

It a penalty to beat Marosi. Young Bloxham is now a confident league 1 player, like a new January signing. Some fantastic signings in the 'more mature' section. Youngsters coming along. Just need the points to save us this season and off we go next season.

Would have taken a one-all draw at kick-off, but how we eventually ended up with a one-all draw is a little annoying.
Let's see if we can get something off the Latics now.

good entertaining game, cant fault the effort, could have been 5-5, shame it had to be an injury time penalty but thats life following stfc , Marosi great game, just a shame he couldn't save that pen, it might have been top of his list of games to remember

Couldn’t make tonight but a very good result for us . Pity it wasn’t all 3 points but Barnsley are a very good side. I gather from what I’ve read on here that Bloxham had a good game . This lad could make us a few quid if he continues to perform but for now I’m sure he is benefiting from working with Hurst . Also pleased that Benning is performing considering he was 3rd choice at Port Vale . He has surprised me with his performances I must admit .
Just an aside , I see Mansfield scored 9 tonight . Got to feel sorry for Harrogate .

Frustrating to lose 2 points late on and in that manner, however I would’ve taken a point at kick off, and i think Barnsley fully deserved atleast a point
Thought we started well first 20, Barnsley totally dominated minutes 25-45. They also had a spell second half too, although we also had a few decent chances around the 80 minute mark
Top effort from the lads, a real battling performance
Good to have a decent entertaining game after all the dross this season
Finally, I really didn’t understand Hursts subs today - interested to see what he says about them

Enjoyable game. Town really fought for that, so unlucky to not get all 3 points, but did feel town did fade, which is understandable.
I wasn't impressed with Pierre or Bloxham in last home game, but felt they both put a shift in tonight. Best game I've seen from Bayliss in a long time too.
We really do need some more points on the board pronto though. That table is looking a bit scary. Carlisle look down but everyone else has shown they can still win games

I would never ever substitute Winchester off when one goal up unless he physically cannot walk.
Enjoyable game and good to see us give it a good go and not just put 11 behind the ball. Yes their class started to show, but we were always a threat. A draw very fair.
It’s such a shame most of the good players will be off in the summer as we’ll probably never know exactly what Hurst could do with the likes of Shipley, Bayliss, Udoh with a full pre-season and some better squad options.

I know what you mean and it was a surprise, but dont forget they have live feedback from the players GPS vests, I would imagine it was a big factor in making the sub, especially with a 2 game week

Churlish to say anything negative about the lads tonight.
Barnsley are clearly a very good team and we them all the way.
Pierre was immense tonight and Bloxham looked a real handful. Marosi made a couple of cracking saves.
Was disappointed that Hinchy and Winchester went off - they are making quite the partnership.

Barnsley will feel disappointed with only a point just like we're disappointed it was so late.
We played well and gave a good account of ourselves but we can't have what we lack.
That's a Hurst side giving their all and making chances and he's getting a good response from an imbalanced squad.
Yet again if we had a striker to bring on and hold the ball up it would have changed the game
I'm not sure about Shipley and Bloxham playing so wide because Udoh cut an isolated figure for much of the game.
What I really don't understand is why Kenneh isn't on the bench because he's the player to bring on to break up play and replace Winchester.
The spine of our side, Marosi, Dunkley, Winchester, Udoh is probably during enough to drag the rest over the line but it's not going to be pretty.
What we will get though is plenty of effort and a very tight and well organised team. The days of going to a game knowing you're going to lose have gone.
We've come a very long way in a very short space of time. Our early season results had hidden just how bad we'd become.

I would have to see a replay but, I'm 90% sure the throw-in that led to the penalty was a foul throw. The players foot was well over the line.

I can only imagine Winchester had an injury. It was the most unlikely sub given the time of the game.
However, thought Town were excellent. There were spells where we got stuck in our box and conceding felt inevitable but the fight they showed was remarkable and I’m just, I don’t, proud to see us play with the intent to counter in numbers and make no mistake, we had opportunities to score more too.
Thoroughly enjoyable game. Barnsley deserved their point, there is no denying that but they’ll know they’ll have been in a game and I doubt they would have pre-Hurst.
I just hope they all keep the faith. It’s almost unfair on Hurst that he’s come in with the league table so precarious. If he had more of the season, we could ‘enjoy’ these rollercoaster matches a bit more without having to moan and worry about every dropped point.
In contrast to one of the comments above, having such width is exactly why teams are suddenly having to think twice even when they have us under sustained pressure. Once or twice, we were inches away from a pass that set them all free.
Rest up and do it all again Saturday. At least I can be 90% sure we won’t be going into any game respecting the opposition to the point we don’t even try to play or compete.
Come on Town.

It is amazing what a transformation Hurst has made in such a short time, the pressing has really improved and we look a completely different team, some very good saves from Marosi, a lot of players deserve praise for a hard working performance. Prior to the game I would have been relieved. with a point so a bit frustrating to not win against a good side.

He missed a sitter from 5 yards and didn't even look disappointed. it was hardly a sitter, and he nearly pulled it off, not sure marosi would have covered his near post, in fairness he looks a lot slimmer than ive seen him , dont really want the Cosgrove debate again, but glad he didn't score

On your last point, our results never ever hid how bad we were to me - I called it out after 6 games, maybe earlier. I’d seen enough by Leyton Orient away late September, Blackpool was the next should be sacking point, then Burton. We let Taylor and Bignot stink the place out for far too long Another one who will sleep better knowing I was right all along…

We let Taylor and Bignot stink the place out for far too long Another one who will sleep better knowing I was right all along… we outplayed orient, should have been 2 or 3 up at half time, Blackpool away was our worst performance of the season by a long way, also it seems Blackpools best, we lost there 5-0 in 1979, the greatest season ever, s**t happens in football, we beat derby 1-0 earlier in the season and I remember the 'knockers' going on about it was only an own goal that won us the game, bit like tonights goal, (no one has mentioned that) anyway my point is, I think Taylor was given exactly the right number of games, he had some bad luck, had some good luck, many injuries, but he was on a loser from before he even arrived, our chairman wanted Hurst before Taylor but he was tied down, so Taylor was all we could afford, and then we eventually end up with hurst as he becomes available , lets not forget if it wasnt for the money issues as a result of the guy you still worship we might have been in a position to bargain for hurst back at the start of the season , you moan about the early bird season tickets, same guy same problem caused this, last season and this one, I mean maybe go follow forest green instead, their chairman has money and the guy you love at the wheel, take your pick one or the other

Entertaining stuff , against a good Barnsley side in good form. It did need Kenneh to come on for the young midfielder earlier.
Bloxham, Benning ,Pierre and Marosi all MOTM.
Benning cracks me up.....gives himself little fist-pump 'yeahs' every time he does something good, which in this game was often.
