Jurgen Klopp has announced his departure from Liverpool at the end of the season. Definite end of an era for them.
Whilst I feel absolutely nothing but contempt for LFC as a whole I have always liked and respected Klopp, he always seemed a perfect fit for them and has enjoyed massive success whilst there. And he seems - and comes across, as a very decent human being.
Lump on Javi Alonso being the new bloke in charge

Hurst and Cotterill both kicking themselves at not hanging on a couple more days. I wonder if they will be looking to recruit a Director of Football ?

Matt Taylor is available and the bookies odds on it are fantastic.

Huge respect for the man and also the football club. Not sure about some of their fans, like all PL teams they have some idiots
Imagine that Klopp wants a break away from the game to recharge the batteries. No doubt he will return somewhere else at a later date

I am no fan of Liverpool but Klopp has to be ranked up there with the greatest mangers of all time. I would not be surprised if he ends up at Real Madrid at some point in the future.

They have a sporting director, no idea what the difference is between that and a DoF.
Klopp will go down as a Liverpool legend and one of their greatest managers of all time, other fans may hate him but that’s absolutely immaterial. His legacy will be as the man who delivered a sixth European Cup, a long awaited Premier League and went toe-to-toe with a state funded 115 charges club, and could still end on an even greater high. And even away from the results formed a genuine and long lasting love and connection for the club, the fans and the city. Everyone wishes to have a manager like Klopp in that respect.
In this day and age, for news of that size to break without even the slightest hint of a leak is rare and has come as a huge surprise.

Assume Roland only gave Hurst a contract till the end of the season? Klopp has always had a deep affinity with Shrewsbury Town ever since Udoh scored that first goal against them.

Does always appear to be very tiring being Klopp, he’s always on a knife edge in matches even when Liverpool are in top and cruising to a win. Shear weight of matches and travel must wear you down too
Be a hard act to follow at Liverpool and brings an extra dimension to the rest of the Premier League season and one last chance at the league title for him

Perfect timing. He's built the foundations of a great young team for someone else to build on.
You only have to look at Manchester United to see what happens when a successful leader stays just a little bit too long leaving an aging squad.

Can have no complaints about his winter break next season – he'll be starting it in June...
But seriously, he will always be one of the greatest Premier League managers. A very, very hard act to follow.

If they win the Europa this season JK would have won every competition he'd have entered since being at Liverpool, I'd say that's a pretty good achievement.
It'll be Alonso next 100%

Instead of concentrating on the Northampton game, I hear PH is preparing his application for the Liverpool job.
Seriously though, I even more expect Liverpool to win the Premiership this season.

Never liked that Klopp managed Liverpool but never doubted he was a great manager and a thoroughly decent human being. Sure his petulance was annoying and he was a bad loser but that's hardly the biggest crime for someone competing at the highest level of sport. Was it against Spurs that he injured himself haranguing the officials? Maybe that was the moment he started to think the end was nigh. Usually when a manager leaves a club, their rivals' fans worry about who the replacement might be. It speaks volumes for Klopp's status and achievements that the opposite is the case here - rivals will be delighted that he's going. It's a massive task for whoever replaces him. There are very few examples of elite level managers leaving while still at the top and their replacement continuing the success. I know it happened at Liverpool before, when Paisley replaced Shankly and so on, but that was the Boot Room succession - very different days. Much harder to replicate that now.

Agree with all of that. I have never in my lifetime wanted LFC to win a football match but I loved watching Klopp for his enthusiasm, demeanour and all round appreciation of the game and it’s connection to people, in this case a truely great working class city that has always held football close to its heart. He got that instantly and never looked back. Difficult to compare generations but not only do I think him to be up there alongside Shankly as their greatest ever manager ( and he was a true legend in its purest sense) but I think he just surpasses him for what he achieved here and in Europe. Thank **** he’s going

As well as all that they had the ultimate result of all time by gaining a 2-2 draw with that massive club Shrewsbury Town 4 years ago (today).
