RW has been chairman of this club since 1996, in that time we have had 18 managers. That’s damning. I think 3 of those were interims. 15 managers in 28 years is good going in my eyes. I was confused if that's meant to be good or bad. I would imagine that is really on the low end comparatively. Picking a club at random - Charlton (as they are one place below town in the table), are on their 28th manager in the same time frame, and Curbishely was in charge for the first 10 years of that 28

I see it as poor management of the club. The example of Charlton is misleading I would suggest. They are a Premiership club in history, status, potential and size but have been an off- field basket case of a club for well over a decade, with multiple owners who all had agendas for owning the club. We, on the other hand are continually told that we are a stable, well run outfit with no off field problems to contend with. Hardly like for like

Hardly like for like I think the jist of your general point can be true while it still being the case that I'd be surprised if we're not on the lower end of the scale from say Championship downwards during his stewardship. For all that he hasn't made many out and out successes and there's been plenty of failures in there, he does tend to give people time - there's a few clubs I can think who have had a few seasons of changing managers multiple times a season. Outside of interim/caretakers, think it's only Askey and Taylor who haven't had at least a season, and the majority have had over two.

I've picked the next one down - Port vale. Same time scale - 23 managers. Manager turnover didn't used to be that high, but a lot of clubs go through multiple managers a season. Town probably will have had 2 by the end of the season. I think that is more common now across the EFL than keeping the same manager throughout the season. Think only 6 did in the entire championship last season. Also, I agree it's poor management. But I think very few football clubs are managed well.

Also, I agree it's poor management. But I think very few football clubs are managed well. I think that’s a point well made in the context of this discussion. Perhaps we are not so different, other than very few clubs are debt free and had the opportunity we had with the move from The Meadow.

And no one ever posts to say they made a great offer Roy Delves did allegedly (on X) oh its was delves now, it was allegedly 100% James Hughes at the time , next week it will probably be Derek passant thats the trouble we have, RW sends out a message and its written off as rubbish and yet a random prankster posts something for 6 seconds, deletes it, and all those with the anti RW narrative decide who they want to have posted it and happily go along with it some of our members on here are one step away from following David Icke with their conspiracy theories

I can hold strong opinions based on information I'm not at liberty to share publicly. Roland had been chairman for so long he's met and crossed a lot of people and many of them have a story to tell and it's almost always the same. There's a reason people always leave with either a life membership or an NDA. They both achieve the same thing.

Surprising how much is just 2+2=5 stuff.
He's 76? Very best wishes to him. Perhaps it's time to retire from all the pressure and become president of the United States?

There's a reason people always leave with either a life membership or an NDA. They both achieve the same thing. Thats a good point. I'm aware of someone who resigned from the club, no controversy/wrongdoing from the club or the person involved, they simply decided it was time to move on. They offered their resignation and to their surprise they received quite substantial settlement, in return for that, they had to sign a NDA. So when I hear stories of how cash-strapped the club are and how fans are being asked to volunteer or pay more to cover the losses, that is when I get frustrated because I think how much is being wasted by the club on paying people to keep quiet.

Bit like the one stormy Daniels signed ? 🤩 What is the worst than can happen to a multi millionaire who put say £100k into a club , tried to buy the club Didn't , and then spoke out about it ? I'd say the worst would be to admit they couldn't afford it or didn't want it in the end I'm pretty sure if someone with a much bigger pockets than Roland wanted to buy the club , and wasn't allowed to , coming out in the open saying so and that he still wants it would only result in fans turning against RW and almost forcing him to sell Clearly this has not happened or even come within a million miles of doing so , kind of says everything as far as I'm concerned

The problem always seems to be both the valuation of the club which includes a perceived asset value of the stadium, and Roland's future role in the club.
No millionaire got rich overpaying for anything, and no businessperson is going to want to come in and not have a clean slate to run it themselves.

You're wasting your time Dave, according to some on here RW is the Messiah, he should stay on under new owners and nobody could possibly have money to get him to sell. Obviously that's nonsense, but trying to get your point across is impossible. I've been told multiple times the sticking point is RW wanting to stay on, not for a handover, but in an indefinite role; something prospective new buyers simply DO NOT WANT.

Are you perplexed again that someone has different opinion to you ? 🤩 every potential buyer so far has asked the chairman to stay on for x amount of time ( I see you've updated your narrative since you were told that to explain it away ) oh dear 🥳🥳🥳 He wants out as he has another business venture to fulfil

Running a football club is a money losing hobby Indeed, how to make a million from running a Football Club ?, invest £10,000,000 Didn't RW invest 6 figures? He will potentially walk away with 8 figures? Even the basement 8 figure sum of £10m / 30 years is a decent income = £333k a year (Around the level of our standard annual losses pre-covid and at least 10x the average UK wage)

Before Caldwell, we were talking £500k (approx) yearly losses. That is not a big number at all in terms of professional football in League One.
It does not have to be this way, but will always be this way with RW at the helm because he doesn't have the foresight to push the club forwards.
Thankfully change is upon us one way or the other, it just depends how long it takes for someone to buy us and convince RW to get gone/how long RW lives for.
