Looks like we may be heading for an exciting relegation battle this year

Imagine harping back to last season every post because deep down you know this season is a load of indefensible rubbish…

last season , last 16 games we finished up with a minus 13 goal aggregate the first 15 of this season we are currently - 11 if we lose 2-0 next game we are on a par with Stevie baby ;-) In 7 days last season we scored 2 more goals than we've scored in 3 months this season (4 nil v Burton and 5 1 v Cambridge) What relevance to does that have to our current goalscoring problems? Absolutely zero. Just like your post.

Spoke to 3 ex Town players this afternoon (as in last 6/7 years). They were very interesting in their feedback in what players think of the current set up from Chairman down to Head Coach. Is there anything you can share?

send Phillips back, he doesn’t want to be here, bowman’s a statue and Mata isn’t league 1 standard. Connor Wickham, Joe Dodoo, Lyle Taylor, all free agents.

The deal we had in place doesn't sound a great one for us and he's just had an exploratory operation so waiting to see the results of that. I'd certainly take Wickham and Taylor but wonder why they are still free agents

I think the game v Colchester will be a good litmus test for where our season is going. A sackful of goals could well get the monkey off our back but another blank and some will start asking for changes.

As I compared already in that period we might have scored More but our overall aggregate was worse Some of the arguments on here are pathetic and desperate and have more holes than a sieve

The lack of goals is a huge concern The football is more tedious than for many years and there seems to be a malaise surrounding the whole club Hopefully the new CEO can change things off the pitch (if he is allowed )- time will tell- but solutions on the pitch are harder to see under the current set up with the current squad .

When you think about it, to have 17 points from only 7 goals scored is miraculous and I reckon unheard of in football. That’s why I don’t buy the arguments we’ve been unlucky in front of goal, I’d argue we’ve been very fortunate to be where we are with such a terrible record.

3 goals since we clung on against 10 man Fleetwood on 26th August
By the next league game, that will be 3 league goals in over 10 weeks, 3 goals in 11 games
There can’t be any sugar coating what a mess we’re in, there’s surely a horrible plummet to come, those 7 points from 9 recently bought time but we only deserved 3 (v Derby) and got lucky in the others

I know stats do not show everything but I have been looking at those provided by the BBC over the 15 league games so far. We average 43.6% possession overall (44.8Home, 42.8Away) and 10.6 shots per game (12.4H, 8.6A) with shots on target per game at 3.0 overall (4.1H, 2.0A). Make of that what you will. Our possession stats markedly dropped after the first 6 games perhaps partly reflecting what MT said at one point that we are an out of possession team. We have had a total of 73 corners and only scored from one of them and this is an area where the coaching needs to improve quickly. When we had Pennington and Dunkley posing a double threat last season we were much more effective at set pieces. If we are going to be an out of possession team then we need more than one player (i.e. Udoh) upfront who can threaten the opposition with pace and finishing power. We also need more accurate long passing straight after the turnover of the ball. Short of an inspired free agent signing we are not going to have any chance of improving personnel until January. Surely an alternative would be to try and play a bit further up the pitch, either by giving some of the defenders a bit more license to go forward (as Flanagan and Sraha did so effectively against Derby) or by going four at the back and playing an extra attacking midfielder. We are currently statistically on course for something like 21 goals in total scored in the whole season. That cannot be sustainable and we need to see some recognition from the coaching staff (rather than the current meaningless platitudes) that we are going to try and change a losing strategy.

A very depressing stat - Luke Leahy alone, with 4 assists and 5 goals, has more goal contributions than Salop this season.

Is there anything you can share? Non specifically that the club is currently a shambles with some very unhappy players and its reputation has taken a real hit compared to what was in place previously. This is coming from players currently in the EFL.

Your stat means nothing if we cant score. Which we cant. Even if we drew every game 0-0, the likelihood is we would be relegated. Which, if we carry on the way we are, we will. 7 goals in 15 games is appalling. Something has got to change or we’re going down. we are in the top half of the table when it comes to conceding goals, buy hey lets just concentrate on the negatives and ignore the full picture

if we drew every game 0-0 we'd have 48 points, the average points tally required for survival in league 1 is 47.9 phew

Is there anything you can share? lets have a guess 3 ex town players, they are still playing in the EFL possibly a welsh side ? how about Newport country ? yesterday they had they never present Matty Bondwell playing, he must really miss being here Aaron Wildig and Bryn Morris ok possibly not as Wildig was more like 10 years ago but I like this game anyway

Most people just don’t give two hoots about the “Pizza Cup” In its current guise, I actively hope we lose 3/3 group stage games each season
