So this myth that we up our game against the "bigger" clubs. It is a myth, isn't it? To be honest going off this season they’re a mid-table club and we should be aiming to dispatch any mid-table team at home. Comparing them of last season to this season they seem to have really regressed in quality. Takes nothing away from the win though. Spoke to a few of their older fans last night, they were begging for us to take Collins off them; they reckon he's dreadful.

Bit far calling it cheating, he is desperate for a goal so I doubt he would have dived without any contact. It looks like he was clipped which made him kick his own leg before going down. The delay in him going down made it look like he dived. The lad that clipped him did not complain but everyone else did. I don't think it was a pen but I don't think it was cheating either. Would you have felt the same if a Derby striker had done the same to us? Depends what people think he did. Seems everyone is in agreement it was not a penalty and whether it was a dive or a stumble after he clipped his own heels is all that we're debating. The footage I've seen is inconclusive. In real time I was howling at the TV for a penalty and I'd like to therefore, on balance, give him the benefit of the doubt and think he probably clipped his own heel as he ran through but if I was an away fan I'd be spitting feathers and calling that a dive.

Service was aimmed at him but our defence made them all look very poor IMHO

Fantastic result. Let’s enjoy the moment and hope no one tries to deflect the occasion with the usual nonsense. COYB speaking of usual nonsense, I take back what I said about TWOTS, you were right after all, collins did come back to the meadow ;-)

Lovely cross from Perry for the goal. The more we can get him in the last third the better. i think Perry is getting better with each game but equally Sraha on the left contributed to some nice interplay and his crosses caused some problems. we are creating more chances but we badly need some better clinical finishing in the last third .

Shrewsbury or Derby. who would your bet be on to get to top half Championship status first?

I do agree really, but if you check the all time history of us v derby we are ahead, they will of course get to the championship before us as their fan base will ultimately tell , I've always thought they were a medium club who overachieved for a few seasons in the 70s, last time they were in the premier league didn't they have the worst ever points total, not even sure if they made double figures

Sraha looked pretty good in some of the attacking interplay in the second half.

Would you have felt the same if a Derby striker had done the same to us? Like I said I don't think it was a pen. Just slowed the replay down on YouTube and he has ran behind the defender and gone down. If there was any contact he has clipped his leg but the defender was facing the opposite direction and it was outside the box anyway. Only he would know if there was contact but it is never a foul. I am glad we missed it as it would have taken the shine of a good performance and result.

Not sure this has been mentioned but did the announcer said particularly underwhelmed when announcing Bayliss as the scorer yesterday?! Sounded like we’d busted his accumulator!!! 😂

Sounded like we’d busted his accumulator!!! 😂 Maybe because he wasn’t? I think most people thought he was at the time and he’s claiming it as his, so that’s good enough for me.

That was quiet some celebration from Bayliss considering he was no where near the ball when it came off the defender. Steve Cross really does need his eyes testing.
He seemed to be key to things going forward, Bayliss not Steve Cross.

Good performance, good win.
One of the biggest dives I've ever seen for the pen though, had to laugh watching it back on the highlights.

He seemed to be key to things going forward, Bayliss not Steve Cross. having looked several times, im wondering if it brushed off his arm after the derby player headed it ? re the penalty I was impressed that from roughly the half way line I initially thought he had tripped himself up, however I might also need my eyes testing as until I saw the reply I thought it was dan udoh

The pen was soft. Missing the pen was karma. I think we deserved the win though. Derby were disjointed and uninterested. 3 or 4 of their players were asleep when we scored. Saying that, Marosi kept us in it.
Mata didn't do enough for me again. I would defo be playing Bowman instead of him. Thought Bayliss had a better game despite the pen miss. Why did Udoh not take it??? Thought Sraha had a great game, first time seeing him. He will be hard to drop!
Thought everyone had a good game bar Mata. I don't wish to pick on the lad, but to me, he is just not at the standard we need him to be at. Taylor must have his reasons for starting him over Bowman. And obviously I hope he convinces me otherwise. But hes had ample chances, and not convinced me yet.

Signing from a LOI side Mata was always going to be one for the future for me. The LOI isnt anywhere near the standard of L1. He has shown he can score at 1 level but will need some working with to jump up to our level. Hopefully we are working on it but maybe he needs a rest now for a few weeks. Dont forget Udoh was "rubbish" when he first came from Telford.

No, I'd agree. Work in progress. 4th striker after Udoh, Bowman, Phillip's, ok 3rd striker if we can only use Phillip's as a sub (ffs...). Good record at a lower level, let's hope we can get him up to L1 standard at some point.

To be a regular for NZ internationals at his age. Must be something there I suppose.

Mata isn’t performing particularly well, but if you compare him to somebody like Rob Street this time last year nor was he, and he improved ten-fold through the season. He needs football and he needs to acclimatise to both a new team and new league, keep the faith.
Added to that he’s had such a stop-start season thus far due to visa problems, injuries and internationals so it’s no wonder he hasn’t set the world on fire.

We’re starting to create more chances now so let’s hope he scores against Barnsley and goes on a scoring run. The more games Mata plays the sharper he’ll get.
