I’m sorry but it’s just disgraceful that the Home Office is in such a mess. I don’t care who it is but someone should be sorting it out. They are literally messing with people’s lives and hopes and someone in authority needs to get a grip.
What a shambles we are.

Maybe it’s going to be rejected.. maybe they’ve looked at it and gone there’s plenty of English strikers you could sign.. in fact you had 2 that you shipped out

Or a three week delay? No, it would be all over the newspapers if a foreign signing wasn't able to play a damn sight sooner than this.

What a sad isolated killjoy country we have become.... It's a wonder Madonna will be able to open her world tour at the O2 when we already have singers here.

I can guarantee, man city or any of the top 4, would have no problems👍🤷☹️ Think with those signings its really easy to say that the players are being paid well over the average wage for a footballer in the UK, where as for a lower player thats more tricky. Post Brexit the UK operate a Skilled visa system, which covers a wide range of trades, but is designed to allow people with high skill levels to get a visa more quickly, where those with lower skills are discouraged, so that overseas workers aren't brought in cheaply to undercut UK workers. Preference is also given where there is a skills shortage in the UK. As part of Mata's Visa they will be making an assessment on how much he is paid against a similar standard UK based player and whether he is undercutting a UK player in terms of wages. People employing overseas workers also need to be registered with the Home Office so they can "sponsor" the new employer and I'd assume Premier League teams are well used to the process and can also chuck a lot of money at the fast track process. Where as Town might not be so used to the process and are in the general wait along with other general Visa claims. Would have thought his New Zealand caps help and he clearly met the EU visa criteria to play in Ireland so think the Visa will come through in the end, but might just be taking time as its not something the home office will necessarily be fast tracking

There is of course another potential issue. What if he doesn't get a visa, it's going to cause us to be very light up front with the end of transfer window closing in. And would we also need to compensate Sligo for the loss of playing time if he goes back?

If we brought him in by boat he would have been playing last week...... Of course, he could well have got a boat across to Holyhead. if you want to make comparisons to asylum seekers, then actually he would be in a hotel room or on a barge, unable to work for months or even years before his case was heard

Visa sorted Thursday but mata has a calf injury in training and not available for a week as stared by matt Taylor pre match interview Yep just confirmed on the website too. www.shrewsburytown.com/news/2023/august/max-mata-update/Does confirm that he has been able to train with us but getting the Visa has been tricky, and looks like the Chairman has had to spend some extra cash to get the visa done

I hope we dont rely on him too much, at the start especially. He has played LOI football so he will be another player who will need to grow into L1 football.
Hope he hits the ground running, but I also hope fans will be patient with him if he doesnt.

Someone has a job set up with a reputable company who can't utilise that person while awaiting a final decision. There must be people companies are desparate to have the services of kicking their heels while the red tape guidelines are adhered to. Get 'em working and chuck 'em out later if their application fails.
Not many can finance themselves for those few weeks, they are more likely to take their talents to a country that allows free movement, which is bad for Brirain.

not all football clubs are a reputable company, sooner or later we'd hear about human trafficking going via a corrupt chairman at dodgy fc the fact a young player from a footballing nation outside the top 100 in Fifa rankings, can get a visa for a little club like ours within 2 weeks shows the system is fair swift and generous
