www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-65187823Well well well... As most of us expected, there was more than meets than eye about Saint Nich's 'surprise' resignation. Be interesting to see if the adoring media south of the border give this anywhere near the same level of attention as the Trump 'arrest'. "Be interesting to see if the adoring media south of the border give this anywhere near the same level of attention as the Trump 'arrest'." from my perspective the scottish media have adopted a see no evil , hear no evil ,speak no evil approach to the SNP. despit many examples of incompetence and many failuers to oversea projects. it has taken the police over 18 months to get to a point were Peter Murrell husband is arrested for aleged issues relating to finaces within the SNP. so will the scottish press turn up, will they ask some uncomfertable questions about a man who was the power behind the SNP or not and if they dont what is the point in having them. Maybe it's a case of the dam breaking as since the turn of the year and the GRR I think a good few reporters in Scotland have taken Sturgeon and the SNP to task. It was uncomfortable for her leading up to her resignation. And since then plenty have been happy to expose the SNP's record in power (perhaps helped that one or two of the SNP leadership candidates were happy to do so too).

When been interviewd and to be fair to Humza Yousaf could not make any comments during an active police investigation, in responce to would affect Sturgeons legacy he said she would be remembered for her record on child poverty!! im not sure that is much of a legacy there was a miniscal drop in child pverty rates, unfortently the SNP has stoped hte temporery increase in unversal credits so it will only rise again. www.savethechildren.org.uk/blogs/2022/child-poverty-in-scotland-what-the-numbers-tell-us#:~:text=The%20second%20part%20of%20the,as%20compared%20with%202014%2F1 "While the data shows that, in the period 2020/21, over 1 in 5 children across Scotland were living in relative poverty, it also reveals that in places like North and East Ayrshire this number rises to around 1 in 4, and in Glasgow the number is closer to 1 in 3, with 29% of children living in poverty. This data, when considered against the previous period from 2014/15 to 2019/20, tells a revealing story about child poverty in Scotland, one that coalition members (including Save the Children, Trussell Trust and CPAG) have been repeating for years. Firstly, the figures for the year 2020/21 were still stubbornly high, despite the £20 increase to Universal Credit being in place during this period. This demonstrates that we cannot expect child poverty trends to be significantly reversed without ambitious, targeted action to put more money in the pockets of low-income families. The second part of the story comes to light when we consider that, although the number of children in poverty in 2020/21 was still unacceptably high, most local authority areas in Scotland did see a slight drop in child poverty rates as compared with 2014/15. It is roundly accepted that this was a result of the temporary £20 increase to Universal Credit payments – which has since been cut."

The others are split fairly equally between Tory, Labour and a neutral stance. How can it be suggested that the Scottish press has given the SNP an easy ride?

I read somewhere that Sturgeon was warned that it perhaps wasn’t a good idea to be first minister and leader of the SNP and have her husband acting as Chief Executive . She choose to ignore the advice and hence is well and truly embroiled in this embarrassing turn of events. Is this why she suddenly jacked in her position as leader of the SNP ? difficult to think anything else really and so her reputation is tarnished by association . Things don’t look good for her husband and questions will be asked of her . I hope they both have a credible defence , I would say the SNP won’t come out of this well .

It's probably not a question of putting the SNP out of power but the more seats they regain in Scotland increases their chance of overall power at Westminster.

I wonder what Alex Salmond is making of all this . Once he and Sturgeon were very close but now. He has his own party now and I look on him as similar to Nigel Farage . I haven’t read anything that Salmond has said about the SNP since this latest revelation concerning their finances . Perhaps he is waiting to see how it all pans out . Don’t think Salmond would make a comeback but he can certainly chuck a lot of muck from the sidelines if he was so disposed .

When she quit you could almost hear the laments for the lost leader emanating from every town and glen. She reassured her people that she’d still be around, ready to dispense wise counsel to her successor, and that they’d somehow manage without her. The next minute she discovers PC Jack McLaren is rummaging through her knicker drawer, cyber-sleuth Archie Pepper is confiscating the hard drive and they’ve arrested her hubbie. It’s like a satirical mini tartan version of when the FBI came to get Trump.,"

The BBC are reporting that she has been arrested. Yes indeed , taken into custody . Looks like she has some serious questions to answer doesn’t it . Interested to see how this plays out now .

Her husband Peter Murrell, former SNP chief executive, was subsequently released without charge, as was SNP treasurer Colin Beattie. May be the same in this instance too.

Scary though, maybe released without charge, but to be arrested and held in custody on a sunny Sunday afternoon, and it doesn't do their reputation any good no matter what the outcome.

It does just make you wonder the heck is going on in British Politics. I’m beginning to wonder if there is one decent one among them.

Did she have to be arrested? From what I know I don't like the woman, but couldn't she have gone in voluntarily "helping the police with their enquiries". But seems they are out to trash her.
