Political producer Sky News, so probably knows more than us…. Similar stories in The Times but then what do they know? Luckily she’s got 12 months before a vote of confidence is allowed thank goodness 😅

Johnson 6/1 to be next Tory Leader by Christmas! Stop it, me ribs are hurting. If , God forbid , that ever happens can you imagine who he will entice into his cabinet ? My money is on Mad Nad for starters who must be a shoe-in for Chancellor . Bone , Fabricant and others of that ilk must be in line for a Cabinet position . Happy Christmas everyone 😂😂😂

Truss will be speaking live on BBC Radio Tees' breakfast show tomorrow morning. I suppose that beats Johnson's hiding in a fridge, but not by much. twitter.com/BBCTees

In a statement sent moments after their intervention at the Tory Conference, Greenpeace UK said it had identified at least seven areas across environmental protection, climate action, workers’ rights and tackling inequality where policies considered by Truss’s cabinet contradicted the 2019 Conservative election manifesto.
In the statement Newsom said:
Who voted for this? In a healthy democracy, people should get the government programme they voted for, but Liz Truss is putting most of it through the shredder.
People voted for strong action on climate, a fracking moratorium, world-leading environmental protections, and tackling poverty and inequality.
What they’re getting instead is fracking, a potential bonfire of rules on wildlife and nature protection, and now the prospect of benefit cuts.
Broken promise after broken promise, the prime minister is quickly turning her party’s manifesto into the longest piece of false advertising ever written. Many will be left wondering whether her government answers to the public or to the hedge fund managers, right-wing think tanks and fossil fuel giants that are cheering it on.

It does seem "wrong". Imagine the outcry if Labour had got in with a warm, cuddly fellow who liked to party and hide in fridges and then changed leader to Corbyn & Co and carried on without an election.....
Thread title needs updating to Next Tory Leader - A N Other?

What happened to the platform people did vote for? Truss Conservatism has simply disregarded it.

They didn’t stand so would be difficult to vote for them…..they’re a well respected movement passionate about saving the planet and people listen to them.

In the main they're a bunch of tossers who disrupt the average working person. Slightly preferable to the extinction lot, but still extreme.

Speaking of stereotypical generalisations bit like 90% of the people who comment on here when it comes to the Conservative Party, who usually give the game away by shortening the name to Tories.

I was left wondering whether Liz Truss had bothered to check the lyrics of the M People song Moving on Up, which accompanied her arrival on stage at the Conservative party conference. The first verse is as follows: “You’ve done me wrong, your time is up / You took a sip from the devil’s cup / You broke my heart, there’s no way back / Move right out of here, baby, go on pack your bags”.

Newspaper’s on both sides are far too partisan, I can’t believe people still read them, they’re all propaganda magazines.
As for Truss and her speech, was very underwhelming. The Tory PR machine have done a great job though in branding anyone who disagrees with any of their policies as the ‘anti-growth coalition’, sadly I can see that sticking. And I presume includes the likes of Michael Gove and Penny Mordaunt in said coalition.

Very poor journalism, but both the Express and the Mail are more than capable of turning out similar rubbish.

Its perhaps worth pointing out this was in the "Shortcuts" section of the paper and was written by the freelance fashion correspondent who also works for the Times, in response to tweet from a photo journalist's tweet that got a lot of online comments. Like a lot of papers The Guardian fills a lot of space with copy from twitter rather than their own content. It appeared alongside the other scoop that "Scooby Doos Velma has finally come out as a lesbian", and followed on from last weeks "how to get to the moon without a spaceship" so not really part of the political editorial content of the paper

They printed and published it? Just checking, like. "Surely, it’s purely coincidence" Surely
