Another ‘out-there’ one, The Sound of Silence - Disturbed A really emotional version of the rather drippy Simon and Garfunkel song, just vocals and piano this time.

Lots of good 'uns on this list. I'll add a couple not listed so far that I also like Garfunkel and Simon covers... Bangles - Hazy Shade of Winter Ms Hoffs has done a few decent covers , also liked the Lightning Seeds one she did. Runrig - April come she will
William Shatner - Common People - Pulp...….. for its off the scale 'whaaaaaaaat???' value. Andrew Oldham Orchestra - The last time - Rolling Stones …...proving its sometimes better even with no lyrics, just stick lots of extra bells on and completely change the tempo ! Fun Lovin Criminals - We have all the time in the world - Louis Armstrong, John Barry/Hal David track from the Bond film, unbelievably was never a hit - for having the huge cojones to cover it and in doing a really good , or should that be a really schmoooooooth…. version.
Keep sayin that Town should find/pay someone to do a cover of Go Team's ' Doing it right', with Shrewsbury Town based lyrics.....hoping that someone gets that eventually. It would sell like the shirts... literally ….dozens !

The other way round where a records released and doesn’t make any impact then released by a group to become a massive hit…. Ill give you Tainted love by Gloria Jones. Became popular in Northern Soul clubs after DJ Richard Searling bought a ten year old copy in America ans started playing it for it to become a hit in clubs. Released by Gloria Jones which flopped and subsequently released by Soft Cell then rereleased with Marc Slmond and Soft Cell which became the hit 25 years after the original release.. for me it’s alway Gloria Jones I never knew until just now Gloria Jones was the driver of the mini that Marc Bolan was killed in, I knew his girlfriend was driving but never really gave a thought to who she might be

The Prodigy - Fuel my Fire is better than L7's version.
Also agree about Urge Overkill - GYBAW better than orig.
Also add than Alien Ant Farm's version of Smooth Criminal was brilliantly different than the original and maybe better.

Whilst there isn't a great deal in it and the original by Minnie Riperton remains a classic, its the 4hero version I turn to. Tune.
