So who is going to win the big game today then? No, not the Liverpool game, nor even the Wrexham game. But the one which will actually have any bearing on us next season. Actually not bothered personally, neither are attractive in any way and which ever team wins I'd expect them to be one of the strugglers next season I'm sure whoever it is they will help make 40 odd points enough to stay up next season. Is there more of a gulf in league 1 between the top and the bottom than the other leagues?

Looking bleak for them now.

3-0 Vale, a good derby game to look forward to next season.

Thought vale played really well, especially going forward and was pleased to see that canny player Worrall with an assist. Vale also just about survived two major blunders by their defence (one was about a cm from being over the line) but Mansfield's rather agricultural approach to defending let them down. Lets start to batten down the hatches now for the derby game!

I think it must’ve all escaped up that Dean Whithead is now a coach at Port Vale.
Brad Walker is there too don’t forget, 1 goal in 35 apps but not played for the past 6 weeks (injured?)

I assume Walker is injured (again). I hadn’t realised Whitehead was there, but they were the better team after getting away with the early defensive mix up. They don’t look like a team who will struggle in L1 next season

3-0 Vale, a good derby game to look forward to next season. Think the word "good" is a way bit short of the mark here tbf.

Meanwhile, in the National League, typical BBC big city/big club mentality. BBC WM can't be bothered to get down to cover Solihull Moors exploits, unlike their Welsh colleagues covering Wrexham.
Half Time it's Solihull Moors 2, Chesterfield 1.

Definately big enough to be a FL club - just not quite big enough to actually get back in the FL AGAIN......

The match is live online on BBC Radio Sheffield - and it's 3-1 to Solihull Moors.

Chesterfield have badly missed their top scorer, Kabongo Tshimanga.

Bit late to the party on this one, but happy that Vale won yesterday. A rare local game having lost Crewe.

Chesterfield have badly missed their top scorer, Kabongo Tshimanga. Yes they struggled quite a bit once he was out, did think at one point they were going to miss out on the play offs but they limped home.

So who do we want to win next weeks game then?
Have to say I'm mot fussed to see Solihull in the league, doubt they will bring much long term.
As for Grimsby, I've no problem seeing them back but wohldnt want to see PH get success with any of his future clubs.
Think my interest may have more of less finished with yesterdays game

What if: Birmingham City went down and Solihull Moors went up
Should be a good final.
Meanwhile, Notts Forest are going to party like it's 1999, they are back in the prem.

that's a clever post , I like it started watching but poor feed so listened on talk sport, sounded like Huddersfield were robbed by VAR I did want forest to win, kind of miss them in the premier and its easy to forget how good they were in the late 70s early 80s

Perhaps not so clever: They got relegated in 1999, don't suppose they were partying then
