Doesn't look like we've got anyone else incoming anytime soon,Adam Phillips an striker rumours have gone very quiet. According to the Morecambe forum, they were keen to have him back as he spent last season there and lives locally in Garstang but they are saying that he is now being lined up for a loan move to Shrewsbury.

Just out of interest, who is responsible for deciding whether we retain or release the youngsters? I'm aware at PL clubs that the first team manager has very little to do with it but at a club of our size it would be interesting to find out as,not for the first time, we've been caught with our trousers down. Championship teams can afford to have a punt on players like McAtee. Be interesting to see in 5 years time how many appearances he’s made for Luton. My guess is very few. Bit like Swansea with the lad we sold last year, who’s name has slipped my mind!!

You're thinking of Nathaniel Ogbeta. His is a very strange case as it's the same manager who paid us £300k for him and yet 6 months later tells him that he can go. Can you imagine the uproar in the "real world" if a company regularly allowed that to happened?

That’s my point. £300k is nothing to Championship clubs, and they can afford to make mistakes if the player doesn’t turn out to be as good as they hoped.
Very tough to be playing with young players futures and hopes, then discard them.

The way I read it is that he was signed on the recommendation of a Swanseamember of staff who had worked with him at Man City. That person moved on from Swansea shortly after and the manager did not share the former employees viewpoint. A regular occurrence in football - Flanagan would still be at Sunderland if Lee Johnson had not been sacked.

the question is ( and apologies if its been answered but ive missed it ) we sold him for £300K. I believe ? if that is correct was that £300K cash + future add ons ? or was it £300K max if all add ons are reached in full ? because if its the latter we may not have had a lot up front and that could be it anyone ? I did wonder what I had said on the news he had signed for Swansea as I couldn't remember I actually didn't comment ( that's a first ) what did everyone else say ? blueandamber.proboards.com/thread/102748/nat-ogbeta-signs-swansea

Also, McAtee may have done well last season but it will be until 2023 at the earliest that he will have played a game at the same level/above as town. That's 4 years after he's released. Andre Gray was nearly 3 years. If town had kept them at the club and on the payroll but not playing would that have been acceptable? I'm sure many would have thought so. You have to accept to an extent if they get to 19/20 and aren't good enough yet then a decision has to be made if they will. And arguably they may not have done if they had been kept on by town and not played. Clearly for those two it benefitted them moving and joining a new team lower down who can give them more game time and a more permanent home doing so rather than endless loans.

I think it's highly likely Caton will be going the same way.

Not surprised at this point, but not even using the alloted squad of 20 seems mad considering you can use 16 in one match day and a squad of 18. I know there are youth players but I would be surprised if SC used them in the league. If they had to submit it now I think registered squad would be 17, and that includes Pyke who most assumed would leave. Hey ho. Definitely a centre mid is one of those two, and presume forward player is the other. Or possibly a utility defender or LWB but maybe Moore will fill that role if a defensive mid is brought in.

Trouble is that the transfer window actually closes at the end of this month. An old article or more sloppy reporting?

Highly thought of at United. Featured in their pre season tour in Australia. Would be very surprised if we were to pull a signing like this off. Imagine he’ll go to a championship or top end league one side. I’d be happy mind. I’m sure his dad would love a sing song in safe standing 😅

When compared to Garner who has had a couple of championship loans, he is a fair bit behind so League One probably right option.

There is a rumour on twitter that Derby might have dropped their interest in Tom Cannon from Everton.

I'd be very interested in taking Stan Mills from Everton. According to Everton fans, he's come on leaps and bounds and can also play on the wing and wing back, which is the kind of versatile player we need, but he's down the pecking order at The Toffees at the moment. Mills and Cannon would be great signings for us. www.evertonfc.com/players/78258/stanley-mills

Hopefully he will soon be back to full fitness. I'm pleased he's fixed up. settling in well 2 games, 2 defeats from rochdale forum crewe game 1-0 Crewe with their first chance. Some things don't change it seems. Free kick into the box & their player gets a free header. Clumsy by EEL to give the free kick in the first place. All to do now
Same with EEL , he wasnt that good first time and was shocking today.
i wasn't happy to see EEL as captain, not sure what he brings to that role
I was concerned with EEL, he looked very slow.gills game I don't think its coincidental that handing it to EEL has seen us starting on the wrong foot, with Ball perhaps more affected than others
It was, imo, a huge error to award the captaincy to EEL.
EEL isn't offering much by way of justifying the captaincy roleanyone still wishing he had stayed ? not a patch on Dunkley

I gather Louis Lloyd our promising youngster is training with Sheffield Wednesday with a view to joining their under 23 set up.

So the two that we offered 3 month deals to go to Sunderland, one gets a three year deal and the other gets two years. Lloyd just fell off the radar, was he released?,did we offer him anything? or did he tell the club that he was leaving and didn't want an offer? Bound to get a couple of years contract at Wednesday. IMO there just seems that there's something seriously wrong within our club.

I noticed that the academy were due to kick off their season on Saturday but that their first 2 games will have to be rearranged as the squad is currently out in Granada (Spain) on a 2 week pre season camp.
Not sure how they are getting on as no info on the website.

I think the website isn't going to be the best source. Callum Wilson is also listed and he signed for Sunderland a few weeks ago.
