Asda in Telford has pushed prices up by about 3p per ltr overnight.
The Shell station a mile down the road are almost 10p per ltr dearer, now 155.9 and 164.9. Ouch, wont be going there unless they are the only station with supplies. And at those prices they deserve to have it in stock for some time to come.

It’s all very odd. We have literally just come back to Yorkshire after driving up from the south coast. Fuel prices vary not just from company to company but also between garages supplying from the same company. We have diesel and the most expensive I saw that was not in a service area was a Shell garage at £1.69.9 a litre. We have just filled up at home for £1.56.9. It’s totally wrong that some garages are cashing in so much. It's called Screwing the customer. I absolutely agree with you but I thought it was called the free market / market forces / capitalism?? Either way, it seems to me someone is making an absolute mint out of the war, which I thought was illegal??👍

Not that I ever use Shell, but I really hope everyone boycotts them now I wont pay there high prices in normal times, I definately wont be now they have hiked them so much higher than the supermarkets. They look for every little oportunity to screw the customer. I only want to fill my vehicle, I'm not looking to double its value......

Might not be as easy as that, they have to get their cargo of Russian crude oil unloaded yet.

Until people start reducing their fuel consumption and pay these rip-off prices nothing will change - it’s scary how quickly 140p a litre has been normalised.
Obviously most car usage is unavoidable in the modern day but how much petrol, and £s, must the average person waste just nipping around town on inefficient and largely unnecessary journeys.

Apple Green Church Stretton, usually no more than 2p dearer than Sainsburys was £1.539 for petrol this morning when I drove past 🤮 Think we should expect all filling up stations in Shrewsbury to be at least £1.50 a litre of petrol this week unfortunately. Good job I filled my tank at Sainsburys at £1.459 on Saturday.

I drove past here twice within about 90 mins on Saturday and during that time Unleaded had increased by 7p a litre!

We may just have to drive a bit less, drive sensibly, reduce the speed a little, try to turn down the heating a degree. Not only could it offset our costs a little, but also help oil importers to be able to cut Russian oil imports. 20p on a litre of petrol is nothing compared to what is happening to the people of Ukraine.
Shell says it needs to import 8% of it's oil from Russia to meet demand, so let's do our best to reduce demand by 8%.
I wonder if any of the Ukrainian refugees are HGV drivers or have other skills we need, maybe the UK actually gets something out of this.

"The new(ish) garage on Thieves Lane is currently - 167.9p for unleaded and 179.9p for diesel!!". An apt address then!
We can address the profiteering of some retailers by remembering their actions in future. Some will lose my future business.

the us are trying to get a consencus to have a ban on oil exports, this would have a major impact on the russian economy but as the EU import 40% of its oil from Russian plus russian gas i dont see the EU signing up to this and even if they did China would just buy it . www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/3/6/us-in-active-discussion-to-ban-russian-oil-imports-blinken"The United States has said it was in “active discussions” with its European allies about banning Russian oil imports as a further economic penalty on Moscow over its invasion of Ukraine."European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who has spoken of ramping up sanctions on Russia, did not fully advocate an outright ban on Russian oil – at least not yet."

I remember reading a few weeks ago a report by the AA that the reduction in oil prices hadnt been passed on at the pumps to the end users, basically saying we were being ripped off by around 10p per ltr back then.
Obviously economics have changed drastically so that would no longer apply, but I would be very interested in an update on what they assess as the current balance of the cost of oil and the prices being charged at the pumps.

Been working in Sheffield today and stopped off at Costco to fill up. Premium diesel was £1.49 a litre. That £18 a year membership is paying itself nicely.

The 30% increase in the price of petrol is the main reason why inflation is currently running at 5.1% Wait till the ofgem price cap on gas and electric is revised - that will feed the inflation rate, just a touch.... it wont help that gas powered stations provide nearly half the uk's electricity talk about putting all your eggs in one basket news.sky.com/story/amp/why-the-uk-producing-half-its-electricity-from-gas-12431632

We do have a little more wind power each day, a little more hydro power from a project up in Scotland. We don't use much Russian gas, only about 10% of our oil comes from Russia. We can manage without Russian oil and gas. Wheat from the Ukraine is another matter...
