Our games in hand might propel us up the table if we get a few points from them but the clubs in the play off places are well out of range now. We have no games in hand on Blackpool and Doncaster, who are 10 and 11 ahead, with much better goal differences. That means we'd need 4 wins just to nudge ahead of them, and then we'd only have another 8 to play whereas they'd have 12.
We have a game or two in hand on Lincoln and Sunderland but they're 16-18 points ahead.
Not a chance.
Our points total is of more relevance for next season than our position.

I reckon Blackpool might get an automatic spot

It's still possible, mad if we do nick in there Just taken a quick look on the Burton forum, and there, in all its over-optimmistic glory was a thread from last week entitled, guess what: "the play-offs". Now, Burton fans at least have the excuse of perhaps over-indulging in some of their local products, or simply sniffing the local air, but I must ask, in all honesty, what is your excuse?🤣🤣🤣🤣

There’s 36 points to play for, Portsmouth, Peterborough and Lincoln are in free fall, each won 1 of there last 6. The bottom teams have picked up form, Swindon, Northampton Wigan ect. There’s no surprise results in this league this season. Rochdale looked decent against us, then beat Lincoln, anyone can beat anyone, we have no reason to fear the top teams when we come up against them.

To catch up it's not just about winning the games in hand but keep having good form over all remaining games.Yes it could happen but I wouldn't stake my life savings on it.

Yeeeaaahhhh, but Peterborough are still 20 points ahead of us - that's 7 wins we'd need just to catch up, and we only have 12 games left! Then we'd have to do better than them in the other 5 games than they do in their remaining 10. Somehow, I don't think that's going to happen! It's not just the points gap between us and the play offs. If we were chasing down one team that was 10 points ahead of us, I'd think we had a slim chance. The (I believe) insurmountable hurdle is that a minimum of 11 teams would have to drop a lot of points in their remaining games for us to get past them all.

Some interesting comments from Burtons Manager
But Hasselbaink thought his team were mentally tired and didn’t have the usual energy.
He said: “Shrewsbury are a difficult team to play against. They keep a lot of people behind the ball. They are not a team you want to go 1-0 down to, as they want to counter attack you. They slow the game down and take you off your rhythm, so you need to score the first goal, but we made a mistake and gave them the first goal.

Play offs may well be out of reach now but I would still like to see us push towards a top half finish.
Would be the best placing for 30 years (all bar 1 season of course).

Not a classic but a win is a win and plenty of positives, not least the fact we were without Sarkic, Pierre, Norburn & Whalley who, in particular the first three, are the spine of our team. I thought Williams was exceptional tonight, he is one of a few that really need to perform for the final month or two of the season in order to secure a new contract, however I'm giving MOTM to Main but special mentions to the Duracell bunny Josh Vela & EEL. When do we start the GoFundMe page to help pay Chapman's wages next season? After the absolute calamitous start it is amazing to think only Sunderland have lost less games than us in the division. Truly incredible statistic & turnaround. Don’t think Williams needs to prove himself at all. We’ll be struggling to keep him in the summer as it is after 2 good seasons. With his age he could well get a championship contract next or top league 1 I would be absolutely staggered if Williams got a Championship contract. Then again, Josh Laurent had one good game in eight for us and got one.

We should wear them like a badge of honour.

Our PPG with SC/AW 1.60.....if they had been our managers from the start, 73 points!!! It gets me confident about next season By my reckoning we have gained 37 points in the 21 games since Sam Rickets left on 25th Nov. That is the equivalent of 81 points over a season. If we achieve a similar return for the remaining 12 games we'll have 67 points - not bad from where we were after 13 games.

It's as well that Linington and Wigglesworth weren't officiating.
They'd have probably said that the ball wasn't over the line!

And we have so many players looking to impress given that they are out of contract at the end of the season. You would therefore hope that they will want a strong end to the season for their own futures.
