In the meantime After a poor start to the season Jordon Pickford’s form has been outstanding and he is easily England number one. Only had 1 eye on yesterday’s game but I do remember Pickford have a great game a couple of weeks back I see my tip for keeper of the season Martinez broke villas record for clean sheets in a season last night

The usual crazy, knee-jerk reaction talk. There was only one team interested last night and that was the one that had to win. United finished their league season last Sunday at Villa and the rest of the season is all about the Europa League Final now. Fans judging the quality of the goalkeeper based on last night's showing would have to conclude that the entire team is relegation material, because United were half-hearted rubbish last night.

Not a good way to impress the watching England manager though.. I thought the referee, Mr B Fernandez, had a poor game as well.

Southgate's current preference is still Pickford anyway, which is fair enough as he's been pretty good this season. I'm sure the England manager could see the shambolic United outfield players did Henderson no favours at all. Shaw was terrible last night but I don't think it'll lead Southgate to drop him - he knows the whole team just dropped off.

Dropped for this evenings game. De Gea got the biggest cheers when the team sheet was read out too.

You get less to do in a top six side than you would at Sheffield United, but when you are called upon, you need to do things correctly. I am not sure that either Deano or the current incarnation of DdG can be relied upon to do that consistently.

Much as I like De Gea, that's the reason it makes sense to sell or loan him on this summer. United don't need to be paying £350k a week for another two years when they can have two perfectly good international keepers for less that that.

Not sure there will be many takers for De Gea for a fee and his huge salary. Such an odd situation at United. Romero was arguably one of the best second keepers in the world, and then he got demoted to third choice. He hasn't played a minute this season on a rumoured £70k a week. They also have Lee Grant still on the books. Their goalkeepers wage budget is roughly the same as the entire Sheffield United squad. And the end result is still poor!

The demotion of Romero was understandable, given they had De Gea and Henderson on the books. What was bizarre was that United appeared to block him leaving. I think Lee Grant is leaving but Tom Heaton is likely to be brought in. With De Gea, I mentioned a loan because that seems the most likely option until his contract runs out in 2023, with United stumping up a good portion of his wages. Then again, one of the papers is talking about Spurs, Chelsea, Dortmund and AC Milan being interested in Henderson, so who knows?
