Booked in at Telford next Saturday together with my wife, hopefully on the way to normality! Cannot wait to get back to watch the footie, especially when you see the new style that is developing.

They are trying to change this ASAP.

Can’t wait to get my jab . Aged 71 and am expecting an invite soon - happy days . A mate tells me that once that’s done I will be able to attend the Cheltenham festival . Good old Boris , good old Dido , I always knew you’d come up trumps eventually 😉

Was at my mothers today doing her lunch, when they called her and invited her for her vaccination, and she is booked in for tomorrow, at 9.30 in Newport, stated that they won’t confirm 2nd Vaccine as yet as there is talk that it will be a lot shorter than the anticipated 12 week point than expected at this time.

Friend of mine had his Friday and they gave him an appointment for his 2nd jab on 22nd February.

This thread is a very good read, very encouraging, great to read some good news around the pandemic. Just hope this does the job. Fingers crossed.

Hitting 600,000 a day is quite something, hopefully not a one off either.

Out of interest - which vaccines are people getting ? Had Oxford vaccine for first one. Second one booked in for April. Not really bothered which one that is. They do say a mixture can be of benefit. My only concern is the uncertainty over how long the vaccine is effective for. Nine months was mentioned by a doctor over the weekend.

i have been critical of this goverment in the slow start to vaccinating but we are now very close to 600,000 a day
(" On Saturday, a record 598,389 first jabs were given across the UK." the mail.) then we could do 18 million a month! i hope they can open more 24 hour vaccination sites now we are using the oxford vaccine. which they need to with the south african varient spreding through the uk
("UK orders 40million extra doses of Valneva's jab — but won't get them until 2022 from the mail)
with so many mutations it is prudent that the goverment have bought them

Telford International Centre giving Oxford, Severnfields Shrewsbury giving AstraZeneca They are the same vaccine. *EDIT: Not having a pop at you.* Oxford University/Astra Zeneca, Moderna and Pfizer/Biontech are the three available types. I've been volunteering in a vaccination centre. I'm doing about 10 hours a week on top of my day job. I have had my jab. Pfizer. My parents have both had theirs as they are both in their 70's.

Would be interested to see if anyone has tested positive after vaccine. Mrs Donnie had her vaccine on Wednesday, had symptoms yesterday so I sent her for a test, which has returned today positive. I have just got back from my test and will now be self isolating. We are thinking it could be an offshoot of the vaccine though?

I’m hoping that vaccinated people testing positive is extremely rare as I’m sure we’d have all heard it in the news and at the news briefings were it the case.

I expect being Mrs Downie is hard enough without going down with this rotten virus.

Arranged this evening to have my first jab on Thursday and the second on 23 April. Both at Telford United’s ground . 🤔
Well , sometimes you’ve just got to bite the bullet and get on with it 👍

Understood from the scientists that these are new types of vaccines and do not contain any of the virus and so it is impossible to get Covid from a vaccine.

It's been lovely seeing the older generation stepping forward to get the jab. So many people. So many in such good spirits. It's heart warming. I've been taking temperatures mainly. So nothing too technical. If there is anyone out there who is in the 70+ or vulnerable group then I suggest you follow your local surgery on social media if you can. Should there be availability of appointments they will put out a call for those groups to get down there for a jab. Behind the scenes there are people at the centres constantly calling around if there is space. Late on Sunday night they worked out that they had 3 spare doses. They come in a bottle of 6 and after 6 hours they have to be chucked out. It was almost like scoring a goal as 3 people stepped forward.
