Firstly get well soon to all those at the club testing positive. This is no longer just a case of can we play in the FA Cup, but what is the lasting damage to fitness of the players concerned. How fatigued will they be in a month, two months time? And fatigue of course just one of the lesser symptoms. As for the cup tie and youth players, this is assuming that they have been tested and all OK? Reports suggest most if not all of those tested are asymptiomatic. š³ Have you got a link air are you just going by Mark Pugh?

I personally can't see how we can have a national lockdown but elite sport is allowed to continue. There are more people involved in getting 22 players onto a football pitch than just the players and many of those are not at the same levels of fitness as professional sportsmen. I hope Roland doesn't get it in his advanced years. Just shut it down for three weeks, play into June, start in September not August and let the vaccine kick in. I really don't see how this is so difficult to arrange. The most important thing is get the virus under control. Iāve kept quite (didnāt want to tempt fate) but am concerned by the number of Managers in their 60ās even 70ās.... Fairly fit youād think but the likes of Big Sam (66) and Roy Hodgson (73) might not just shake it off but are continuing to manage and attend Matches. Iād guess in the bubble with players.....

It makes you wonder whether all the players and staff have been fully abiding by the social distancing rules.

They have lives outside football like everyone else, shopping, families, wives/partners possibly working too, children at school. On top of that they have been playing other teams twice a week pretty much.
No system is foolproof. England cricket squad were in a bubble for 2-3 weeks. All had negative tests before leaving for Sri Lanka. Tested again on arrival and Moeen Ali tests positive!!!

www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-9118785/Football-bosses-warned-house-order-players-broke-Covid-rules.htmlCulture secretary Oliver Dowden has warned English football's leaders to get their house in order after a shutdown of sport was discussed as part of the nation's new lockdown. In meetings on Monday, the Government came under pressure to call a halt to elite sport only for the Department for Culture Media and Sport to resist, claiming sport currently does more good than harm. But with coronavirus cases in the Premier League doubling this week and players at major clubs flouting lockdown rules to host and attend parties over Christmas and New Year, the pressure is rising.

If 2 positive players caused Crewe game to be postponed, how can 10 positives still be allowed to go ahead? I know itās a different competition but....

With an outbreak at the club, why on earth are we still allowing 'elite' sport to continue in the wake of a new lockdown as coronavirus infections continue to surge and daily deaths are now over the 1000 mark?

Money. Iām sure thereād be chairmen and CEOs out there, perhaps ours included, who would welcome a break and the opportunity to re-furlough everyone.

I agree, even as far down as the National League North (sixth tier!) is being classed as āeliteā, thatās hundreds if not thousands of players, referees, media, support staff etc travelling all over the country on a daily basis, undermining the work of NHS and other public service staff to get this thing back under control. Completely untenable in my view

You know there was a time when I really wanted to see football being played during the pandemic because it your mind of things, gave you something to look forward to and we had football to sit down and watch. But its starting to lose a little of its shine in that regard. No fault of the clubs, players and staff of course...its just that the pandemic has overtaken things somewhat. I'm just not sure what to think now that we have so many players and staff coming down with this virus, I'm just not sure we should be asking them to put themselves at risk just for the sake of 90 minutes of entertainment each Saturday. Football was a little bit of escapism for a short time from all things COVID, that no longer seems to be the case...

Brian Caldwell just been on talksport talking to Jim White about the situation and although he stopped short of saying so itās not looking good. He discussed the TV money etc vs health of players and of course said the latter comes first but Iām guessing by his tone and words we will know either way this afternoon.

The build up, thinking there will be a match on, then it getting cancelled and the sense of anti-climax may be worse than just not having any football.
Unlike other lockdowns, this one comes with hope in our hearts for a post vaccine world, so not such a great need for being "cheered up".

Would it really hurt the FA just to allocate us the funds. We're forfeiting because we want to keep our players and staff safe, we're forfeiting because we want to keep the players and staff down in Southampton safe. I do think the FA could do the right thing and just pay out the money owed to anyone, not as if we are cheating anyone out of anything considering the testing is ongoing and they know where each squad stands.

As a club we can make the decision if āplayers healthā is paramount (as it should be) just withdraw then argue if it will be played at a later date. I canāt see BC agreeing to play kids and putting further players at risk.

The Heineken Champions Cup has already been impacted by cancelled games and teams forfeiting points. I certainly don't want to see cancelled games decided by panels and under strength teams having to take the field, just because they have to. That devalues the game I love.

unfortunate as i signed back up with bt sport this week, as usual they tried to commit fraud and lied about the contract
saw a january offer, Ā£7.50 for 6 months and then Ā£15. ( for the app )for existing customers, ok for me as i can simply wire it to the tv
she read the Ts & Cs and mentioned a new 24 month contract, i said nope, forget it then, she checked and said, its ok she was wrong, your current contract will carry on as normal and will end in 16 months, ok deal
no sooner as the call was ended i got confirmation of a new 24 month contract. ( bt do it, sky do it, i've had it off them more than once each)
i was going to wait until after saturdays game before calling them but did so today with the game being off. ( i'll find another way to watch it should it still be shown)
i managed to get Ā£10 credit off them ( on the understanding i didnt call the ombudsman as i threatened too, would have got more that way but it could have dragged on)
