Even more games. You do have to wonder how much bigger the IPL will become, the money involved is just off the scale.

I support the Chennai Super Kings as that’s Shagger’s most recent team. My younger relatives have a fair bit of the merchandise.
I can’t abide Kings XI Punjab ever since they spitefully released him.

From Sunday onwards was when the Glamorgan v Sussex game was originally scheduled to be played at Rhos on Sea. Just my luck. 4 days of excellent weather and the match is now in Cardiff. No idea why they couldn't put it on this year. and a good result for Glamorgan too 😊

Even more games. You do have to wonder how much bigger the IPL will become, the money involved is just off the scale. I think cricket has to accept that the IPL is huge and will have to make changes/concessions to it. I don't like it but cricket and it's supporters can't keep burying its head in the sands and think that test cricket is the priority, sadly it isn't. We will see an increasing number of players who are more interested in T20 & the IPL and with what is on offer (the money, the crowds, the calibre of players, etc) then you can't really blame them. I don't believe all this stuff at test cricket will will be dead in x years, however it certainly won't be the same and you'll see an increasing number of situations where you have test squads doing their thing and there being other stuff going on. A good example is we are 2 games into a 3 match series against NZ and yet we are playing a ODI tomorrow in Holland Personally I like to a see a series against opposition in all 3 formats of the game as I was brought up on us playing someone in a series which involved test & ODI's (and later T20) but instead I think you'll have a test squad playing a 2 or 3 match series whilst the ODI/T20 squads are playing elsewhere (or the players are playing in the various T20 leagues).

The Overton's added to the squad for the third and final test. Not sure why they need 14 for one test! Selectors continue to have confidence in Zak Crawley so he will continue at the top of the order. I wonder if Harry Brook will get a debut on his home turf? www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/61824498

Top 7 of Roy, Salt, Malan, Buttler, Morgan, Livingstone, Moeen.
And that's with Bairstow, Root and Stokes not available!

Somewhat a bit of a no contest methinks. The crowd have become bored, so drinking is the next best option I guess !! 🍺🍺

Not content with fouling up the cricket schedules with the unwanted Hundred, the ECB are now looking at this as a possibility:
County Championship matches could be played overseas for the first time in the competition’s history under plans set to be discussed as part of the England & Wales Cricket Board’s High Performance Review.
The radical idea would see all of the United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka and the West Indies emerge as potential hosts, with the hope being the move would ease pressure on the domestic schedule and help improve England's spin bowling.
Daily Telegraph.

Daily Telegraph. I might be missing something but for the love of me I can't see the logic in that. Are they suggesting that the County Championship be played overseas in our winter? If they want to improve England's spin bowling then play more County Championship games in the middle of summer (when pitches should be at their driest) rather than book end the competition as has been the case over the last few seasons.

So farewell Tom Harrison – and good riddance. Yes, the announcement that the chief executive of the England & Wales Cricket Board has stepped down, presumably with his share of a whopping £2.1million bonus in his back pocket, is good news.
There’s no doubt Harrison had the best of intentions for English cricket when he over his role in 2014. Yet you cannot argue he has left it in a better place.
His legacy will be a sport more divided than ever, with the Hundred, Harrison’s baby, causing the kind of toxic culture war in cricket that has infected so much of daily life in this country. The Hundred, a competition that alienated existing fans and won’t make a profit for years, is English cricket’s Brexit.
For believers it is the panacea that will rescue the sport. For many others, it threatens to destroy the very fabric of the county structure and the integrity of red-ball cricket. If that sounds political then it is. Much politicking ensured the “new competition” was forced through.

Let me be the first of what will be a veritable flood of posters to publicly pay tribute to young Bairstow. What a wonderful spectacle that surely represents the pinnacle and hugely comment-worthy for anyone interested in “All things cricket”.
Myself, northwestman and gwyneddblue will be thrilled to bits with that innings whilst I expect the likes of MinorMaurice and Barrynic will be bitterly disappointed given they only derive joy from England failing.

I love England Cricket winning...I love Test Cricket...I hate the 100...I love us scoring at 5 an over against 2 of the best fast bowlers on the Planet....I love Jonny Bairstow...I hate the way he has been messed around by England in the past...

"New" England in full flow at Headingley. Good to see you pointing it out. Seeing our top order collapse was certainly old England but a recovery brought on by attacking cricket was definitely New England

Not been able to follow much of this test due to WiFi not so good whilst being on the Douro River.
Finally got a WiFi hotspot this morning 😅
Wow, another humdinger of a test match. Hopefully I will be able to catch more of it over the next day or two.

Meanwhile, I've no idea why Alex Gidman, who is in charge at Worcester, continues to remain in post.
Worcester's record in T20 is W1 L10 D1, culminating in one of the worst performances I've ever seen from them last night, when they lost to the Birmingham Bears by 144 runs, which is an all time record defeat in all T20 games. Their overall performance in bowling, batting and fielding was utterly shameful and not acceptable from professional sportsmen.

Rollicking good entertainment this Test Match stuff. Ebbs and flows you don't get in the short games. The Test Match is back! Let's have more of 'em.

Count me in as a YJB fan too. Doesn't get enough respect from some cricket fans. Crowds have certainly had their money's worth in the Tests v NZ. Need to get rid of the 100 and give NZ, SA & Windies more Tests. Probably asking the impossible though with 'money men' in charge at the ECB.

WiFi connectivity very patchy still so have only just caught up with today's play. Another great day of test cricket.
I've said it before but will say it again, we should be playing 5 test match series against New Zealand.
