Autumn has arrived today and guess what, it's the final of the Bob Willis trophy today.
Lancashire in all sorts of trouble on the opening morning, only managed 78 all out thanks to Luke Woods 46 not out.
Shame that some of the top players are missing from both teams for this prestigious final.

Shame that some of the top players are missing from both teams for this prestigious final. In last year’s Covid hit year the Bob Willis Trophy was a great idea and a fitting tribute to the great man. But now, with a full season having been played, it seems utterly pointless. Played in front of a couple of hundred fans, in the depths of the British summer, with Warwickshire having already taken the main prize, who really cares about this result?

Shame that some of the top players are missing from both teams for this prestigious final. And no reason other than the IPL that they should be missing. England's 1st game in the World T20 isn't until October 23rd. The 1st Ashes Test is on December 8th. Livingstone is in the IPL. But surely Anderson, Buttler and Woakes could have been allowed to play in this game. Just shows how low the County Championship has sunk in the ECB's priorities.

One Autumnal day today, 1st October tomorrow and we are still playing County cricket!
Lancashire are probably wishing it was all over now.
Currently trailing by 4i7 runs with 9 second innings wickets remaining.

Disappointing injury news from the England camp today, which effectively means we have zero chance of winning the T20 World Cup.

No disrespect to the white ball stuff, but I am more concerned as to whether or not the Winter Ashes will take place. It's looking very touch and go at the moment.

That's very disappointing for Sam Curran, he will be gutted to miss out on the T20 world cup, especially as he's best suited for the short form of the game.

Jofra Archer and Olly Stone have also already been ruled out of the tour... and no Sam Curran, that's torn it, we might as well stay at home.

So Clarke (Notts) hasn't been forgiven yet !!! Really thought they would have given him a Lion's place this time. And no Worc boys either. I think Libby should have been considered for the Lions too.

Not only is the Ashes only on BT Sport, which I don't have, but because of Australia's covid rules, BT won't be sending any commentators and everything will be handed over to Australian presenters.
TMS will be there though.

I'm already p**sed off that Channel 5 no longer show the highlights of the rugby union games shown live on BT Sport, so I'm not holding my breath.

Libby deserved a go, but Clarke has more chance of playing for Bishops Castle than any England side.

Astonished by some of those selections but sure they’ll all set out to do their country proud. In two minds as to whether English cricket is best served by winning this Ashes or not; receiving a thumping sans Sh. Curran should reinforce in the selectors minds that he should be one of the first names on the team sheet irrespective of format.
By a similar token, I wonder if an English series win could guide the selectors down a collapsed rabbit hole.

The ICC MEN'S T20 WORLD CUP started today as the qualifying stage for the main tournament begins.
Thought I had better mention it so as not to upset anyone who prefers the short form of the game.
Opening day wins for Oman and Scotland.

Lots of unhappy Eng cricket supporters after this mornings announcement re Eng v SA at Edgbaston being moved to Old Trafford, and the re-arranged Eng v India going to Edgbaston.
Already purchased tkts, but thankfully not accommodation. A few mates coming up from down south had already booked a hotel as soon as they got their tkts. They are not happy bunnies. Utter ECB shambles again. Should have sorted it all before they put the tkts on sale. Ah well, life goes on !!!

My sister and her husband bought tickets for the first 2 days at Edgbaston, maybe she’ll offer them to me for Old Trafford .
