Well done to the lads for a very professional performance and two fine strikes. Charlie Daniels MOTM for me - his quality (and increasingly that of Pugh) is starting to show now. A win at the Abbey Stadium is a bonus and ,of course, to see a few players like Edwards coming back from injury should be a big boost. The midweek game can be used to get some game time in for some of the returning players and then back to the league next week with a more confident team.

On the balance of play I think thatโs quite harsh on Cambridge (just like it was harsh on us to lose against Northampton, not to beat Plymouth etc). They looked good and we looked better than we have recently.
The money is much needed. Clean sheet too. And goals worthy of winning any game.
A rare good dayโs work of late that needs to be built on in the league.

On the WhatsApp thread that myself, Exkeeper and several others are in, we all agreed that Burgoyne was exceptionally โbig, loud and dominantโ today. i think he just sneaks motm for me too

clueless isnt he ;-) oh i see you just logged off Well he is clueless we know that, if heโs signed a central midfielder to play centre half and smash one in from 30 yards against lower league opposition then I wonโt be complaining about it! Doesnโt make him a good manager. Good to see a few players getting much needed minutes today. Cant get carried away beating a weakened L2 side but a wins a win and we have to take everything we can get at the moment. look on the bright side, it was a cup win so you can ignore it in the games won stats

Yeah, I'd go with Burgoyne for man of the match too. No one in the outfield impressed that much today whereas he had plenty to deal with and did so pretty well.

Udoh led the line well. Feel it must be frustrating playing the role he does. Should have scored to. Burgoyne with some crucial saves. Pugh was quality today. Norburn and Edwards were superb in the middle of midfield. All in a all a solid performance and good win. Some much needed prize money to. Calm down sweet cheeks! We kept Cambridge out by the skin of our teeth and they will feel very hard done by to lose that. I remember Edwards name being mentioned twice, nurburn's only slightly more. They spent the vast majority of the game watching the ball fly over their heads so I'd love to know how you have come to the conclusion that they were superb. Good battling performance from a team low on confidence but let's not make out were played well.

Good start for Clough, Mansfield won up at Sunderland.
Kings Lynn won at Vale. Darlo at Swindon. Stockport won at Dale. So Non-League doing their bit today. ๐
Got myself a beer and we have Donny at FC Manchester on DAZN coming up. Ding dang do.
Amazing what a win can do.

You sounded like Trump with that comment! Lol. He's not wrong though, both scorers played the majority of the game in defence This makes no sense. Daniels was getting forward all game on the overlap. He got in the box a few times and delivered some decent balls, that were very well defended by Cambridge. Walker moved up to midfield when Edwards went off and was in exactly the position a deep midfielder should be to receive the ball. Then showed excellent technique to score. Udoh showed good forward play to set up Walker. I mean, of you're going to pick faults, look elsewhere.

Well done Town, not surprised we looked a bit short on confidence. Now to build on this to put a bit of a run together. Hopefully not another false dawn.
Another few results like this please Sam.

The front 5 today (bar 2 pot shots by Pugh) were not looking like scoring if we carried on playing until midnight.

OK, I take the point that today's good result may be papering over the cracks, but for goodness sake, some here won't be satisfied under ANY circumstances.
It was a WIN, honestly!

The front 5 today (bar 2 pot shots by Pugh) were not looking like scoring if we carried on playing until midnight. The point is pretty clear. We were set up to play with wing backs. Daniels overlapped at every opportunity. All our best attacking play came from Daniels in the first half. Daniels and High were part of the attacking plan as the width to deliver balls into the box., hence some of the good balls played by Daniels. Walker started as part of a back 3 before stepping up to midfield as part of a reorganisation, because it's well known that Walker is a CM/CD and is equally comfortable in both positions. Udoh was superb in leading the line today and his work rate enabled the second. It's a team game.
