so we face Cambridge who are second in league two they have won 7 games drawn two and lost 2 , they are the top scoring team in league 2 with 24 goals whilst only conceeding 8 and have a goal difference of 16 they are clearly an in form team and you would think they would be confident of beating us based on our dredfull form, inability to keep a clean sheet or score more than one goal a game.
however can the last gasp equilzer galvanize town, will they feel under less pressuer playing in the cup? i hope it does i hope it can be a turrning point as we stop the losing run. it also gives the injured players another week to get fit. with a league game on tuesday how important is this game to ricketts and town he may decide to try somthing different with the formation or play some fringe players.
with playing a free scoring team will ricketts revert to his risk averse nature and play with five at the back and hope to score on the break or from a set piece ? how confident are you? will you spend £10 to watch it ? what do you think the scoreline will be?

It’s not available to watch anywhere.... Radio Shropshire only.... I think we’ll do OK. This is a free shot for Sam and the team, Cambridge are probably favourites and the result won’t change Rolands thoughts on the manager.... play with confidence get a result or loose out to a team 2/3 places above us in the Pyramid no pressure....

Yikes!! They really are on form.
Looking to this game I just think with Covid, with the financial pressure clubs are under, with the potential to earn a bit with a decent Cup run that we're taking a risk sticking with Ricketts. And so I did think we'd have made a change already.
Still, it is what it is. A decent Cup run is welcome financially most years, more so this time around and do we're desperate for something to cheers us up. Lets hope that last second equalizer is the start of a good run.
By the by, I don't think this game is available to watch.

Certainly listening on the radio will be slightly better for the blood pressure.

It's a big game for Sam, but it's an even bigger Juan for the chairman. If we lose, the scribes will be out demanding to know why Ricketts was still in charge.

Phew, lucky escape.

I think you have it right, Pilch!! Although I have absolutely no idea how this is working because I thought iFollow would only cover EFL competitions. But here is the info from the CUFC site... An iFollow match pass WILL allow you to watch a live stream of the entire match, which kicks off at 3pm, against the Shrews. Match Passes are available to purchase for just £10 to UK-based fans only – CLICK HERE TO BUY NOW.This is good news right? That we can watch the game?! It would be really good to get this confirmed before we spend any cash, mind. I just didn't think would be available on iFollow.

It was after that dreadful 1st Round F.A. Cup Tie v Salford on 11th November 2018 that Askey was sacked.
"It's always difficult when you have to part ways with a manager," said Town chief executive Brian Caldwell. "This is a guy with a family, who has worked really hard.
"We've been monitoring it very closely over the past few weeks. Some of the things I've seen on social media will have been horrible for John to see.
"It was a hard act to follow. He seemed a really good fit for the club but, unfortunately, it hasn't worked out."
Groundhog day?

Don't see the Cup as a free hit for anyone - I expect any Town manager to pick his strongest available side and do his utmost to win the game. The Cup games have given us most of the best days under Ricketts and a poor display on Saturday will give further ammunition to his critics. Due to their better form Cambridge must be favourites but, if the rifght Town team turn up, we are well capable of getting a result there.

Funny this one as Ifollow are saying they wont provide games on the platform Please note: Carabao Cup Round One - Four (excluding those involving a Premier League club) and Papa John’s Trophy matches are now available on iFollow (excluding those selected for broadcast) but there will be no The FA Cup matches available to watch on the service www.efl.com/broadcast-schedule/

Well, I assumed like in past few seasons BBC have coverage and show goals as they go in during their weekend shows. However, I've seen this from Peterborough saying passes are available to buy on ifollow.

No replays so we have to go there setup to win. I just think he needs to cheer us up, give us something to shout about. And no better opportunity than a Cup game. With the run we're on an 98th minute equalizer at home to Burton doesn't quite cut it.

i have doubts about ricketts but if he could win and if he could get the best from the players this could be a turning point for him, equally if we get thrashed i cant see how his position will be viable.

I dont think Ricketts has won 3 games in a row with us (in 91 games) so I suspect those completely random scenario's you've come up with are unlikely to come true (but would love to be proven wrong)
Anyway, if we were to lose on Saturday then it wouldnt be a shock and in isolation it wouldnt be worthy of demanding changes (like a Staines, Blyth, Histon would), instead it would just be the continuation of a dismal record under our current manager. I was saying that I think he will be here a while yet but changed my tune after the 4 defeats and the nature of the Peterborough game, however all the talk is he has the backing of the board & players so regardless of how many times people post he's got to go, I suspect a defeat on Saturday won't see the back of him.
But if we win, I'll be pleasantly surprised and a good cup run is what the club needs financially.

I think we'll get thumped 3-0
They're in great form, we are dire (lets not let the 99th minute equaliser against equally dire Burton kid us)
Should've gone 5 minutes after Tuesday's match, will be gone after Saturday's match.
Although with big Pierre being trained to be the next Duncan Ferguson, anything is possible!
