I watched the game, and we where able to give game time to some young/new players which is very useful. My concern at the moment is every game so far seems to be the same worrying format. Start well, lose momentum, go too long too often, the front 3 become 1 as we sit back, yet continue with long ball to the channels an lose all attaching threat. Because of this the last 1/3 of the game we look really poor and offer very little. I know injures don't help, but we do the same regardless of who plays or who we play against. I think if we can change this mindset we have a chance of doing pretty well this season, as I think we have one of the best squads for a long time. Spot on, echo my thoughts as well. Can't remember us being good in a second half this season, Boro aside. Just looks like we always run out of gas and try to sit back and hold what we have, maybe when the fitness gets up to speed, results will improve, who knows?

So Cummings bagged his 100 goal in 250 appearances last night. Not a bad ratio. Where to play him then. Centrally or wide right. I prefer centrally. i agree and although he was looking good out wide towards the end of last season he's been sluggish so far, and we know hes a centre forward ideally, i'd go as far to say he can get complacent far too easily, the fact tracey and barnet seem more than capable out wide along with whalley means cummings will have to fight for a place which is a good thing, its a shame we have no game saturday as i'd like to know if he'd got himself back into the xi

There's two things nailed on with this board. - Pilch backing Ricketts regardless - The usual leftie clan bashing the government regardless. Fair play they stick to their guns, but everybody has a right to question them. The football has improved marginally and I think the player quality has. Let's judge after 15 games. We need to get fitter and close out games in the second half. You forgot to add - Those who say they will not watch a Ricketts team then going on to provide us with a detailed critique after every match

I guess the concern is whether this is as good as its going to get. And that's because, as you say, all we seem to be doing is serving up more of the same each 90 minutes. Still early days of course, it can take time for everything to fall into place. I just wish they'd give us some sign of better things to come. As despite the win last night, I didn't get that (sorry Pilch ). A win up at Donny would certainly do that of course. What better way to get things going than a good win against the side that's made the best start of any club we've been up against so far. At their gaff.

I think/hope it will all click, I guess a couple of decent quick wins will help that. Like I said, I like the look of the squad, when all fit we have a strong and varied team. And in farness that's in most part is down to Sam Ricketts, and he deserves praise for that. It just needs to come together on the pitch for him which I hope it does.

We are 2 points better off than we were after 4 games in 78-79 and have a much better goal difference. We all know what happened then, don’t we. Final positions are not decided after four games. Are you getting confused with your history here? Cant remember the start to 78/9 but we are 2 points better off than the start to 93/4 for sure. Ye sorry, that’s the one. 78/79 started I believe with a dire performance at the Meadow resulting in a League Cup exit time lowly Stockport.

I make it 8 of the players we started on Saturday, started last night. Yes we moved players around but I believe the only player who played out of position was Walker. And I'll ask again, can you see why some fans are not entirely satisfied with the performance? believe what you like It's not a case of 'believing what I like', the facts are we started with 7 (apologies, I forgot about Cummings) of the players that played on Saturday. The 4 players brought in were: Cummings - A regular first team starter High - A player who came on as sub on Saturday Tracey - A player who came on as sub on Saturday Zamburek - His debut but someone who is expected to be challengning for the first team The team that played last night was not a bunch of fringe/academy players, that is a fact. The formation we played was the same as Saturday (well based on your nice graphic anyway). The team was not a mis-mash of players played out of position, I could argue as a fact but lets say that is my opinion. And despite us having the numeric advantage in stats as you provided, all the things I've read have suggested the last 30 minutes were not a pretty performance and we were holding on against a team in the league below who are struggling and who were a fielding a fringe side. Yes that might be negative in your eyes but as with most things in life, it's all about the context/viewpoint, in my opinion if we had a couple of wins under our belt in the league and had the same result/performance last night then people wouldnt have been bothered. But the reality is we havent had a great start to the season and our form in 2020 as a whole hasnt been great, plus the nature of the performance last night sounded similar to Saturday's disapointing second half performance. That is why I (and other people) are questoning the performances & results.

We’re in exactly the same position as the 23 other clubs in the league, better than most as we had money in the bank during lock down and the beginning of the season... Fact is 18 teams have made a better start to the season and only one club a worse start. Your exactly right saying we need to wait 10/12 games for a true picture but there’s no excuse (fitness, injury, Covid, luck.) it’s how you manage recruitment and pre season in readiness for the start. Lots of excuses this year but facts are facts not time to panic but we’ve made a poor start. We are 2 points better off than we were after 4 games in 78-79 and have a much better goal difference. We all know what happened then, don’t we. Final positions are not decided after four games. That’s what I said! (Your exactly right saying we need to wait 10/12 games for a true picture) Are you saying we haven’t had a poor start which was my point

Away games at Pompey and Plymouth both traditionally hard trips plus Northampton and Gills at home ( unbeaten India 10 away). Four points may have been realistic, but 3 is not disastrous with a new team. As Lewis Cox said , 3 draws and 1 defeat, seems better than 1 win and 3 defeats would.

we had 35 minutes of dominance and a poor second half and i agree with him they should have scored four goals but they didnt we had a number of games last season were we should have scored.
ttps://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ian-evatt-bolton-shrewsbury-reaction-19061884
"After the game, Wanderers head coach Ian Evatt spoke to the press and here's a round-up of what he had to say. Reaction to the result? “I think we were the better team, we were the best team. Some young players that have really come out of their shells, Regan Riley’s debut and there were some other good young players. We had three or four Academy graduates in the team. We should have won the game, there’s no two ways about it. We’ve missed a pen, we’ve missed three or four comfortable simple chances and given them two goals.
"The second one, I’m not going to going to be too bothered about because young Regan is still learning the game, that’s his debut tonight and that can happen. The first one was poor, we misplaced a pass under no pressure.
"Football’s a cruel game sometimes and they’ll learn a lot from that, especially the young ones. Definitely the second half we’ve dominated and definitely should have won the game against a very strong Shrewsbury team.”
