2-1 FT.
Our only two wins of the season coming in the EFL Trophy!
Hopefully we can carry on with this win and get 3 points vs AFC Wimbledon on the 17th!
COYB!

Back to back wins in the EFL trophy and really that's about it...
Bolton had some late chances to take it to penalties.
We gave away too many fouls and 5 yellow cards showed a lack of discipline.
Bit of a run out for our new loanees...and I thought Walker, Barnett and Fossey were the pick of the bunch and good to see King Arthur again!

Well we're six games in and the only performance you can look to where you think we gave a really good account of ourselves was the first game up at Boro. Leaving that aside...
I don't think we have seen anything that's an improvement on anything we have seen from a Ricketts side from previous seasons and more concerning, any improvement from the Pompey game. We see bits and bobs every game that suggests things could improve next time around but we're just not seeing that. It doesn't look to me as though we are improving, as yet anyhow. Each game is just more of the same.
And it goes without saying looking to the performances and results, we have to start seeing that improvement or we're going to find ourselves in trouble.

Thought we were terrible....5 booked in a nothing game...and lucky to get anything out of it.
Early days I know...but these new signings have to gel quick...on what I have seen nothing tonight impressed me.
Its gonna be a long hard season.

we played a team that made nine changes and without there two first choice forwards. barnett and cummings had chances but we conceed a soft goal. our defence switched off to many times and were lucky not to conceed a number of goals, we played far to many unproductive long balls and yet again dont seem to be able to finish a game with a clean sheet. whilst this was a win it was a poor second half performance and we did not manage to impose ourselves . we seem to have second half syndrome

It did not sound pretty but a win is a win and it ensures qualification for the next round in the only cup competition we have a realistic chance of winning.Still much work to be done in game management but at least a few of the new lads got some valuable game time.

The only one of the back four to come out of that with any credit was Fossey. Pierre half asleep, Golbourne fast asleep, Walker, like a fish up a tree. Midfield needed a Norburn type in there to drive them on. Front three tried their best. Keeper made a cracking save first half, but I wonder whether he is talking to his defenders. Golbourne should have been told to get it away when he dozed off for the penalty and Pierre needed to be given a similar instruction for their goal. The keeper is the one player who has a decent view of what is going on in front of him. How the ref could give them the free kick from which they scored, when he had just let them off an identical one, I will never know.

It is difficult to judge from these EFL games but I do share your sentiments. I was expecting to see us build on the attacking intent promised from the latter stages of last season but we don't seem to be able to carry it through at the moment. Every game I've seen so far this season has promised much but by the 2nd half we revert back to type, sit back and hoof it up the park. Very frustrating indeed.

A lot of long ball stuff. Why our defenders have to do that when they can bring the ball forward 20 yards before releasing I don't know. far too many unproductive long balls Glad I wasn’t imagining it when I watched us revert to these long balls against Pompey after a promising start. After all the hype about our new style and the 20 odd passing move at Boro I thought I must be watching the wrong team. Sadly these comments confirm that we have gone back to bypassing the midfield. It’s so predictable and meat and drink to any half decent defence.

Pierre yellow. He has been poor. Walker has been better in centre defence tonight. On the way out maybe? Birmingham?

anyone remember the magnificent run to wembley under the messiah named hurst
a smash and grab injury time winner at coventry the usual 3-0 win v wba and dire home defeat v walsall when we only needed a draw and lucky late win at port vale despite them being the better side and amazing 0-0 penalties victory v blackpool smashed oldham 2-1 hung of for our lives to see off yeovil 1-0 and then outplayed in the final to a side the league below us
if only the good days could return
