That second half didn't sound too good. Played well for 30 minutes. No win in three.

you have to say we were very unfortunate with the injury , dominated the game but just did enough to lose
Oh well at least we had possession and it was entertaining , at this rate fans will be wanting wins next 😜

Can't say I was impressed by that; thought we looked better against Portsmouth. We dominated most of the game but that's to be expected when the away team has the lead. When they came out again after our equaliser, we didn't look like dominating again.
Even after Sarkic's dreadful giveaway they looked more likely to score a third than we did to equalise.
Putting all that to one side, my biggest concern was that we didn't look much like scoring, even when we had 75% possession. As soon as we get near the box, our strikers only ever seem to get the ball when they have their backs to goal. We didn't seem to have any options to change anything either, apart from bringing on Udoh. Another striker needed, surely.
Early days of course but I'm not feeling too optimistic at the moment.

Trying to avoid the ‘likes of’ phrase but honesty if we want to make the step from being a team just above the drop to top half established League One club we really have to beat s**t teams like Northampton at home.

Extremely poor first half performance, slightly better second half but not much. Disappointed with Fossey today but was his first start so hopefully will improve.
Northampton weren’t even that good which makes today more frustrating. Must improve next weekend at Plymouth!

Interesting Radio Shropshire made out we were completely dominant and it was very hard to see how we came away with nothing, whereas on here most are saying it was poor and there were little positives to take away.

Disappointing, all in all. Absolute howler from Sarkic and then he very nearly got caught out again not long after when Northampton hit the post with a cross/shot.
Northampton could easily have made it 3 1 in that spell of pressure. Town's heads seemed to drop after both goals and it a while to steady the ship. Looked a bit lacking on the leadership front.
Positives were that we did manage to create some good chances and scored a great goal. Overall too sloppy for long periods (lots of overhit or stray short passes, poor control etc) and some disastrous errors in defence. If we can cut that out we might be ok.

i thought town played well, errors are going to happen in the first few games as players are rusty and in time they will get sharper and hopfully show more composuer in front of goal, just disapointing to lose in the way we did

I thought we were all over ‘em for 2/3s of that game. Poor up until we went behind and knocked a bit by that terrible goalkeeper error.
No idea how we lost & pretty pleasing on the eye. Thought Cummings was pretty quiet though & it’ll be nice to have some squad depth once Norburn & Pierre are back.
I can’t quite believe people are this negative. Game of opinions I suppose! Good to be back.

Just got back from the match. The difference from the two teams was that one team was trying hard to get goals in the box and succeeded, the other team preferred to keep hold of the ball passing from side to side when the net was empty and there for the taking. It all very well keeping possession and playing well but it’s the goals that win the game, so the team that scored the goals was the better team. Is this going to be another season where ‘they played well and should have won’? Northampton’s second goal was our goalies error who was not in his box. Good to back but poor result.

To be fair with regards to leadership and the defence, we obviously miss Pierre with that suspension and Norburn being out of the side. We also were down our main two centre backs so that's our leadership and established defence out for this game.

In my opinion the Radio Shropshire commentary was a little over the top. Early days, and I'm sure changes will be made for the next game.

Yep. Poor tracking by Fossey.
But clearly the goalkeeper didn't have any faith in him clearing it, hence the mad rush from goal.
No excuses for the 'keeper though. A terrible goal to concede.
I assume Sarkic called for the ball.

Odd sort of game and the masked experience did not help. The early injury was bad luck but I cannot understand why Walker was dropped back when we could have gone like for like and brought on Sears. That surely contributed to the chaos in our midfield where we were second to every ball for twenty minutes. We then played ourselves into the game and looked the more likely winners until that awful error. I think a lot of people on here underestimate Northampton - they have a game plan which works for the players they have and they fight hard and are well organised. They had the better chances throughout the game. Nice to see Whalley played out wide again though we do over- rely on him. Pike showed some intelligent running and good link up play and Fossey was good going forward. Some of the faults from last year such as the slow start and the lack of threat in the air and from set pieces still seemed to show themselves. Pierre and Norburn coming back would definitely strengthen us but we need to tighten up and play for ninety minutes.

Will reserve judgement till at least ten games. Be nice to have Pierre & Norburn back.
High looks quality. Hopefully Whalley & Cummings will cause havoc if we can get someone between them putting the chances away.

Didn’t deserve anything from the game. Poor defending for both their goals. Shame EBL had to go off early, obviously affected us. Vela, High and Whaley played well. Fossey’s defending wasn’t great, looks more like a wing back to me. Had a lot of shots but way off the mark. Credit to Northampton they looked physically strong, defended well and looked dangerous on the counter. We played some decent football for a 20 minute spell before half time but didn’t really create any clear cut chances. Hopefully when Pierre and Norburn back we’ll have a bit more spine to the team.
