but it seems to me cotterill is far to quick to give up on a player, if you don't instantly fit into his starting 11 you get left aside to rot away When a new manager comes in it’s a clean slate for all players, time for those who have been poor to try and salvage something with a second chance. I think has had more than enough chances under Cotterill and blew it whilst Udoh did the opposite. How many chances does a player playing poorly get? how many league games did he start up front. ? we went with udoh, bowman, Cosgrove

Quick look on Soccerbase. Morecambe (A) - 60 mins Rochdale (H) - 65 mins Crewe (H) - 29 mins (came off injured?) Sunderland (H) - 90 mins (RWB) Charlton (A) - 32 mins (was he that poor?) Doncaster (A) - 82 mins Numerous sub appearances I’m not going to list, came on at half time against Cheltenham when Tom got sent off most notably.

You could of course argue that he wasn't given how many opportunities in the first team but SC and the coaches aren't just judging him on on those fleeting appearances, they are seeing him day in, day out in training and I suspect that is leading to to his lack of chances. But the reality of football is nowadays its all about instant success, how many chances should we give Pyke? If we drop Udoh or Bowman and play Pyke but struggle then people will question why we are persisting with Pyke.
The lad will be 25 in September, he's had a total of 100 appearances in senior football (half of which have been as sub) and scored a total of 8 goals, I can't imagine there will be many clubs in league football who will be desperate to sign him.
As for talk that Cotterill wants his own players or casts players aside, lets not forget that he has been happy to play many of the previous managers players, has brought in some from the cold (Goss/Love), persisted with some when plenty of us wanted them gone (Udoh) and then played players who he has supposedly fallen out with (Ogbeta).

After Burton he said Tom was amazing in training , good enough to get 1 minute here and there it seems

SC's take on Tom was that he's faced with a lot to learn and he's getting there. Based on how DU has progressed, I am not going to argue with SC's approach to bringing Tom on.

Before we single out udoh , Where is the chap who always jumps in to say there are 10 other players on the pitch ? 😜

What a steal from that "big" club.

It is a simple conclusion that Pyke is not good enough to warrant a place in the squad or team, not down to lack of game time but down to what the coaching team see in training, his time on the pitch, and his loan spell at Sc***horpe. The same can be said for Bloxham he is simply not good enough yet to trouble Bowman or Udoh, and this is reflected in his limited time being used, which sometimes has been uninspiring, but hopefully will come good. We all love the notion of players coming through the ranks but professional football is not a sentimental sport, albeit the coaching staff see something there with his recent contract.

Yes, leahy or Flanagan will do me as captain

Bloxham is nowhere near good enough, what I've seen of him, but he's only 17/18, so given time, and maybe a loan or 2, we'll see what he's like a couple of seasons down the line

Pyke, alongside Cosgrove, was a disgrace when he came on at Wigan away last season. When we lost 2-1 in added time
Not sure we saw him again? I’d have sacked him on the spot
Non league level at best

Sunderland's average wage is £6,000 I wonder how much we offered to temp him away from a side chasing promotion to join one with relegation fears no idea but I very much doubt we stole him

He’d be lucky to get a league two team next season if he goes, if he can’t even get into the squad of league two whipping boys Scunny.

don't we have anything better to discuss than a player who got injured and never recovered from it ?

We should start a collection or crowd funder to get rid of him ASAP
Truly horrendous player, 3 year deal, Ricketts must’ve been high when he signed him. Pray to god he’s not with us next season
